Best Budget TKL? - Gopolar GG86 Build (Plateless)
Просмотров 2,5 тыс.2 года назад
I bought this board from Taobao for about $84 USD plus shipping. The board is a great budget board for someone who wants to dive deeper into the rabbit hole and wants a larger layout like a TKL. This board does come with stabilizers but I do recommend switching them out with durocks or any other ones. However, I wouldn't recommend this board for beginners who want to open the case and modify th...

The GMMK Pro Experience
Просмотров 3323 года назад
The board is pretty good as an entry-level board. One main concern is the quality control issues where my screw was too tight and I could not tune my spacebar stabilizer. I would recommend getting a stabilizer from durock, zeal, etc., which would definitely help to bring this board to life.

Great video! Very informative. I'm very new to this and am currently exploring all options and the M1W V3 seems to be a very popular budget friendly option.

I'm torn between getting this one and the Drunk deer a75 pro, if you've tried the drunk deer, what would you say is the better choice between the two, I would assume though that the monsgeek is more worth your buck due to being a fully aluminum case.
@@Brrrstrument I have never tried the drunk deer a75 pro and it seems like those rapid trigger keyboards that tend to sacrifice sound and focuses more on gaming performance. If you want strictly gaming performance and you don’t care about sound go for the a75 pro but if you want a keyboard that sounds really good the monsgeek is the better pick

@@NocturneDX thank you so much for this comment, I’m glad you enjoyed the video! I have a new video coming really soon!
저도 알리에서 주문 한 m1v3가 도착했습니다!! build : no foam switch : HMX Xinhai = clacky ???
I am happy for you! Custom making an aluminum plate might be a good idea!
Awesome video!! Is it possible to mount shine-through keycaps and are they well illuminated by the board?
Is it VIA compatible out of the box? Or do I have to flash/update it first?
It's via compatible out of the box
I've been going down the rabbit hole and I'm becoming more and more convinced that I might need to replace the G413 TKL SE I've only had for a few months. Help. Okay but in all seriousness, this was suggested to me as a starting point. The price being more around €120 in the EU kinda sucks but shipping and taxes do be like that. Great vid! Loved your editing and camera work. I especially loved when you dialed the knob to install the keys, that was very clever. I also appreciated the extensive sound tests. I'm not sure what switch type I'd like, the keyboard I have has kailh browns so I'm limited for points of reference. I just know this rattly spacebar drives me mad even if I like the rest of it, haha!
@@Pamjamelia thanks for leaving a comment and I’m happy you enjoyed the video! I’m excited for you going down this rabbit hole and there are many options to choose from. I’m sure you’re doing a lot of research but if you need some help I suggest looking at prebuilt keyboards as a start. I covered the AL75 on my previous video and I think it’s a really great prebuilt keyboard. I still use it for work and it’s really comfortable to type on. I’m also reviewing the Epomaker 75 in my next video if you want to wait on that but there are already videos about that keyboard. Overall you can’t go wrong with any brand and it’s definitely gonna be a huge upgrade from your current board. I’m super excited for you dabbling into the hobby and don’t be afraid to reach out to me if you have anymore questions. Cheers!
@@asomenick Thanks for the reply. I'm not in any rush for a new keyboard, but I definitely wanna try build one at some point. Sure, it looks repetitive and tedious, but in a good way! Looking forward to the next one you cover!
@@asomenick Update; though I said I wasn't in a rush, I ended up getting the M1V3 with Rosewood switches. It's... different alright! My family definitely appreciates it being quieter, but I might need to go shopping around for switches because the Rosewoods honestly feel a bit too smooth, if that makes sense? Though I'm also used to presumably unlubed Long Hua-- I mean Logitech tactiles. So I'm definitely missing that bump and I think they had slightly longer travel as well? The G413 sounded rattly as hell but I liked the actual feel of its switches, and I'm starting to think the feel is more important than the sound. I still gotta try other configs with less foam, though. So that might have an effect. But I might look into other tactile switches.
@@Pamjamelia That's great to hear! What colour did you get? Also for tactiles, I think Milktooth has some great videos to help you decide on what switch to get. It's good to experiment with different configs so you can fully customize it to your liking.
@@asomenick I got the pure black one. I have a Fractal North PC case so I kinda ended up limiting myself on what looks nice with it, but hey! I also got the Epomaker Marrs keycaps because I wasn't sure what else to go for and those colours seemed to be the nicest for me, mainly the black and green with the yellow legends. As of now, I'm typing with two layers of foam removed which feels so much nicer (I haven't tried removing the foam between the plate and PCB because it seems stuck there fast and I don't know if removing it will ruin anything.) It makes the board feel a lot more... responsive? Like there wasn't really much of a bottom out feel with all the foams installed, if that makes sense. Only problem is the gaskets are causing my desk to shake as they bounce. I wasn't told this would be a factor to consider in my purchase, hah! But yeah, once I've use this board for a while I'll look into some tactiles. I see Akko's after doing a new one but I'm not too sure if I like the sound of the super short travel. I'll keep looking. Also I got my sister a Redragon K668 for her birthday, which is her first mechanical keyboard, and it sounds like I've taken her down the rabbit hole with me.......
those akko switches just sound like typing on vintage mx browns with really terrible leaf ping
@@pokepokepoke64 yeah it’s not something I would use personally but im sure there are a handful of people that like how they sound
