    I underwent PRK and my vision is excellent now. The three days following the operation were really painful. However, my corneal stroma layer remained intact, which is beneficial for sports. The procedure cost 1000 euros in Slovakia. 500 euros/eye.

    Just got SMILE done yesterday. Surgery isn't painful whatsoever. After the surgery, your vision is cloudy and it will feel like you have an eyelash or something else in your eye, so it's an annoying feeling but nothing painful. The second day, my vision is already so much better. Not completely 20/20 yet, but pretty damn close. No pain or burning in the eyes whatsoever. They'll feel ever so slightly dry, but a few artificial tears and you're good.

    is this procedure to see without glasses or contacts? like it improved your vision? i’m 11, turning 12 in early april, and my vision is so bad that when i don’t do contacts or glasses, then i can’t even see large letters one or two feet away.i do night contacts where i put contacts in at night and take them in the morning so i can see, and i do that everyday. my vision is super bad so i was thinking about doing some sort of surgery when i’m older, but seeing this it’s kind of scary- for anyone who’s done it or knows a lot about it, can someone explain what it does, what it feels like during the surgery, or how the world looks like after it? or do u need glasses or contacts or anything? how long are you able to see before your eyes get bad again? what if your genetics are bad eyesight

    • @JasonStoneOD
      @JasonStoneOD 5 месяцев назад

      I'm not going to speak on behalf of Dr. Hamilton and his surgical process but during the adjustments for the LAL we use a small lens to focus the light from the light delivery device (LDD) and the lens also helps to hold the lid open.

    Can LAL correct for some astigmatism?

    • @JasonStoneOD
      @JasonStoneOD 5 месяцев назад

      Yes, the LAL does a great job correcting for astigmatism. At our practice I am comfortable adjusting 2.00D of astigmatism,. I've done more than that but you end up using a lot of the adjustment process on just clearing the astigmatism and might not have many macromers left for adjusting the visual range (computer/reading).

    What happens if the doctor takes too long to find the lenticure, or is it possible that it's not completely removed? I experienced a situation where the doctor took an extended period to remove the lenticure for my left eye. She made several attempts to locate it, and eventually, she informed me that it had already been removed and was perhaps due to my eye dryness and that lenticure is more sticky and stick on the tool. However, she didn't realize it and continued searching and removing. In such a case, how can she ensure the completeness of the removal of the lenticure? what is the complication for the prolong surgery in such a case? i experienced that my left eye more stings than my right eye. today is my 6 days after the SMILE procedures. right eye recovery better but left eye still having the discomfort ? will this affect my left eye result in overall?

    Hi Doc, have you heard about the newer procedure called CLEAR? I believe it’s a more refined form of its predecessor SMILE. It’s also known as Corneal Lenticule Extraction for Advanced Refractive (CLEAR) Correction. I heard it’s the 4th generation vision correction technology. I’m not sure if it’s being used in the US as of this time.

    I had my surgery Oct 9th 2023. I was told to expect 3 adjustments and 2 lock in visits . I also find the small bifocal part irritating and the glasses are a little big . I was fitted dayof surgery and was a little out of it but assuming glasses one size fits all. But I'm hoping it's worth the expense. I has RK scarring and was told this is my best bet for great vision. After one adjustment I'm seeing great so I can't wait to get rid of these glasses.

  • @shariward7733
    @shariward7733 8 месяцев назад

    Your not mentioning wearing the uv shielding glasses until vision locked in. You need to wear sunglasses outside clear inside until the lock in visit after the tweaking is finished. And the lens is expensive approx $4,500.00 not covered by insurance.

  • @susanday8874
    @susanday8874 8 месяцев назад

    I just had these lenses implanted (not a patient of this doc) and am waiting for my eyes to heal completely. I think it is important to discuss the UV light protective glasses that must be worn at all times until the final lock-in procedure. My first surgery was October 3, so I started wearing them at that time. It will be a minimum of 3 more weeks for me, so about 6 weeks total. It has been challenging to date because my “near and mid-range” eye does not yet allow me to see/read at those distances. The little, bitty bifocal lens in the UV glasses is headache inducing. This is a short term inconvenience and overall, I am very happy that I chose light adjustable lenses. Looking forward to excellent vision in another couple of weeks.

    How duriable is the eye after SMILE? With LASIK and traumatic hit or pressure can induce the flap coming loose hence why many service members opted for PRK.

    • @MDanielClark
      @MDanielClark 7 месяцев назад

      I remember PRK was suggested to me in the Air Force for this reason - they didn’t approve of the innate structural weakness of lasik (which I doubt is a risk for most people unless you expect contact to the eye). SMILE apparently preserves more of the cornea than either other procedure, and if available it’s what I would be getting through the service. There’s no flap to come loose.

      Do your research please! - consult as many specialists as you can as all surgeons are not equally talented/skilled/informed. In my experience I consulted 3 corneal specialists before an ophthalmologist correctly diagnosed a pterygium and referred me to a 4th specialist who surgically treated the issue and advised me to wait (3 years) before considering LASIK - I took away a medical hard copy volume that explained LASIK in full (although a dated copy from his library the information was relevant). In that time the contours of the eyes change and readings/scans or measurements can be affected - and finally when you do undergo any scan procedures make sure that their equipment is calibrated to confirm accurate findings. Be warned and informed.

I understand how nerve-wrecking it is and I was nervous on the day of the procedure, but they do give you medicine to help you relax and numb the shit out of your eyes so I barely felt a thing. My doctor was so kind and gave me a stress ball and played relaxing music in the background which definitely helped, it's definitely worth it and you can immediately tell the difference the next day.
