Why it is important to learn unvarnished history
We all know her
Very beautiful but so sad. This should never have happened and it should never happen again.
Jeffrey Glenn Miller Allison Beth Krause William Knox Schroeder Sandra Lee Scheuer en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kent_State_shootings
One wonders what he'd say now.... I suspect his tune would change. Who,whom.
I was 16, still in high school, and just outraged. I've now listened to this rendition about six times and I cry every time.
Murica !!! "Land of the Free". Try again. What an outrageous unforgivable disgrace !!!
Wow! So powerful then. Even more powerful now sung by these kids today.
So good to see young people "remembering." I was in college when "Kent State" happened
I was in University in Canada. A friend and I hitched to Toronto to attend a protest outside the US consulate.
wow. Great job. Really emotional. Superb arrangement.
is it too much / too reactive / too dramatic to wonder if this could happen again today?
Tears. I remember.
thank you.
I didn't want to understand this song the way I do today.
Beautiful. Thank you.
nice
No words. So beautiful and poignant.
I was finishing my first year in college (a small women's junior college) when all this happened. It affected me very deeply for a very long time. Campus unrest due to injustice is very unnerving. We had Vietnam, the women's movement, sexual independence, Woodstock, drugs and so much more. What a time.
So moving! Glad the modern students can have and hold a piece of their history now. I was only 18 at college fifty plus years ago in Richmond, Indiana, not too far away. It freaked us all out when we heard the news.
Bless the younger generation❤
Very moving
One of his very best comments. Glad I saw this.
Excellent. Peace.
I sadly remember the terrible day!
BLM laughable huh. 1
Neil Young wrote "Ohio." Gerald Casale and Mark Mothersbaugh of DEVO were attending Kent State at the time. Casale was there that day for the protest and he knew two of the students that died. Seven years later, Neil hired DEVO to appear in his film "Human Highway" and a number of musical collaborations. Motehrsbaugh designed the oversized Fender amps that were the background for Young's Rust Never Sleeps tour.
I turned 16 on that day and turned 70 today. I remembered hearing about it on the news and being shocked. I was terrified of being drafted and sent to Vietnam and was considering how I was going to deal with that. I remember listening to that song on underground hippie radio. Luckily I got a high lottery number when I turned 18. Then Nixon was brought down by Watergate.
As an American I am encouraged that these singers have reached across time and life to touch on what is our history- one of the dark and unjustified days. That they have done it and done it beautifully, as high art, speaks that something is right even as the denial of justice remains unanswered in any other form. God bless all who made this work what it is- TODAY.
Once again, made me cry. Beautifully arranged and performed.
Just LOVE you ALL and your presentation! Thank you all!
I am with the Kids. We can do this.
Thank you people. Brought tears to my eyes! I was in NROTC at that time. Resigned after a year giving up my scholarship. Never never give up for Peace. Carry on University students. Carry on.
Wow. Thank you for this comment brightpathvideo. Beautiful too.
I am old. I was a few miles away on that day. God damn James Rhodes. God damn that war. Thank you for remembering.
I was born and raised in NE Ohio and have vivid terrible memories of the shooting; a close friend was in the parking lot and his friend was shot to death. Your arrangement of Neil Young's song is perfect and your singing inspiring! Your art redeems the pain. Bravissimo!
My Aunt went to Kent State during this time. Lee Treece
My senior year, my best friends draft number was 17, and my cousion was killed with only two weeks to serve.
Burned into our memories
I was brought to tears. ❤
On the same front page of our local newspaper that had the famous photo and headlines across the top, it brought the news of my older brother being wounded in Vietnam on the bottom. He lost two buddies, and half of his left foot. And then, just as now, it was young people on college campuses that are the conscience of our nation.
🙏🙏❤️❤️🌹🌹
What a wonderful take on the classic song! Never Forget!!!
Simply brilliant !!!! Thank you sooo much for doing this !!
I believe the protesters/rioters already burned down the ROTC building prior to the shooting, so Mr Crosby is partially wrong. Not everything they were doing was protected by the constitution. Nobody should be surprised why the national guard showed up.
Boo, keep your politics out of my music. This was 3 years ago. How about a comment on left wing politics and how its even worse now with anti-semitism at left wing universities.
Absolutely inappropriate... This isn't art with the divisive lyrics.
I started to cry about one bar in.
It wasn't a "shooting" or a "killing ", it was murder. Those children were murdered.
Stupid version
Wow. Unbelievably moving considering these are Kent State students. 50 years later. What a great way to honor the memory.
Beautiful and sad
This is great. Well done.
