I have just discovered you and your music. Just amazing playing. There is a touch of reverb on your mandolin that sounds exquisite. May I ask the source of the effect? Is it simply from the room or maybe from a mixer? Cheers from the good old U.S.A.

Love that mandobass! I was offered a 1920s, "The Gibson" mandobass way-back in the early 70s, and as I was just starting out my career at that time, I passed. I think he was asking $600, which was a lot for me back then. Oh well, one of the "ones that got away" I guess. I wonder what they go for now. I'll check Reverb...

And those mandobasses should also have at least piezoelectric pickups to plug into the bass amplifiers, for more bass sound.

There should also be other mandobasses in these tunings: C1, G1, D2 & E2; Bb0, F1, C2 & D2 (Cajun tuning #1); B0, E1, A1 & D2; G0, D1, A1 & E2; and F0, C1, G1 & D2 (Cajun tuning #2).

Lovely atmospherics and beautiful execution. The mandola is the king of voice accompanist instruments (what would Schubert have thought?).

As a double bass player, I tried to play that mandobass - with their permission of course. I expected the strings to be tuned in 5ths, but they were in 4ths like a cello. I hadn’t a chance! It hurt my brain 😖

So airport travel with that Mandobass seems like a non-option lol. Beautiful music!

Hilary seems incredibly gifted all around, as a multi-instrumentalist, an artist, a great singer, story teller and much more I'm sure! I stumbled upon Simon as a mandolin player myself just recently and I sure am glad to have discovered both of them. Simon has great style.
