Baccus; Teeny Tiny Terrain - The movie!

An introduction to a new range of scenic models with a difference, designed for table top battles with small scale figures. Made with the Baccus hallmarks of dodgy camera work and appalling audio. We can't all be good at everything!

Baccus Showcase #3 Great Northern War Swedes, 1700-1721
Просмотров 2,1 тыс.2 года назад
The third Showcase video features Swedish troops from our Great Northern War range. It's a bit longer than the previous videos as I added an extra section on some set-piece shots of a game in progress. As ever, feedback is welcome. The next video that I will do will be a different format as I am preparing a piece on exactly what to the, 'Joys of Six(mm)', really are. Finally, thanks to all of y...

Pony Wars

A short history of the Pony Wars rules, a tour of the original game and a look at the 6mm version from Baccus. To call the editing, photography and soundtrack 'amateurish' would be an insult to amateurs everywhere. I have taken to making videos in the same way that a squid would take to skydiving. Please be gentle.

A Prussian infantry battalion of regiment from the Seven Years War. I produced this to illustrate an article on painting 6mm figures. It's what I would grade as an intermediate level of painting and took me about 45 minutes to complete. If you are new to 6mm remember that although they will look much bigger on screen, each of these soldiers measures just 6mm tall from foot to eye.
looks good for 2-3mm as well
They do seem very popular amongst the teeny tiny soldier crowd as well!
I think you have to go with what you think is right, listen a bit to what other people have to say, but after giving them a fair hearing go with your own preferences. The buildings look great, the figures look great, but they don't look the same scale to me. I'm a board game and use card board counters...
Fair enough. I've always said that this approach isn't for everyone, and I'm not surprised with your reaction. This whole hobby is such a subjective thing in terms of style across a range of issues that you can never please everyone all of the time.
Excellent addition to an already excellent range of 6mm fellas.....definitely subscribe to the theory of using smaller small buildings etc with any given figure scale. When not pushing my ACW 6mm around, my 28mm Bolt Action fight amongst 15mm Battlefront buildings.
Most impressive 6mm command stands!
Could you do a how to play of your rules set for the ecw
I would love to. It's a matter of getting the time!
Very excited to see the swordsmen!
They look absolutely wonderful! I cannot wait to see a base of pikemen.
Me too!
Hadn't thought about it, to be honest. I have just used my standard, 'daub paint on over a black undercoat', technique. The sculpts themselves do most of the heavy lifting.
@@baccus6mm100 They're fantastic looking miniatures Pete, and you've done a cracking job on bringing them to life 👌
Absolutely stunning Peter, are we going to get a painting tutorial ?
I am investigating the possibility of doing some livestream painting sessions.
That would be nice to see Peter
No love for 40mm wide bases?
Sadly, no. They are the work of the Devil inflicted on the 6mm world by the Dark Lords. All that is True and Virtuous is represented by the 60m x 30m base....
Very impressive. I play 15mm but have always loved the look of 6mm armies. I am half tempted to paint one and if I was starting out again I might consider this scale.
I've been wanting something like this forever! I will most likely be buying some soon, my only question being, are they pre-painted?
They all come unpainted. No need to worry, as they are really easy to paint and finish. I may do a video on this if there is a demand.
@@baccus6mm100 Awesome, I figured, it just wasn't clearly marked and I wanted to double-check, thanks!
As someone who has had a lot of trouble trying to figure out how I can wargame in an area that is very small indeed, I have tried 28mm when I first got into miniatures but found them useless for my needs so I'm now turning to 6mm and seeing this concept really solves my issue , thank you for your channel
Thanks for the positive comments.
I think this a fine, innovative approach. Miniatures are almost never to scale with the real world. For example, bases in ancients are almost always deeper than they were historically. What matters is a visual appeal staying somewhat in bounds with real world dimensions. Needless to say, they are beautifully sculpted and detailed. I would love to see some East Front villages and cities for WWI and WWII. Excellent work!
We are working on more models as I type this.
Wonderful that you have done this. A smaller scale definitely gives the right feel for large scale games!
Hi Peter, you are much taller than your miniatures! I never thought that this is the case...
woods would be nice please :)
very nice :)
Bravo Peter, a super idea!
I understand the concept, but visually it dose not appeal to me, with 2mm perhaps, but each to their own.
I completely understand that TTT models won't appeal to everyone. Wargamers are a fiercely independent minded bunch and we all have our viees on the best way of depicting armies, playing games etc.
That's so effective on the table I really hop these take off. I'll dive in if there is terrain I can use for the the Franco Prussian war already eyeing the Vauban fort and the villages.
I would love to see building for the Samurai range, both villages and fortified castles.
In our plans...
Great concept and designs, but wouldn't they be better with 2mm figures, so that the troops don't look like giants when placed near the buildings?
Brilliant. I really like the proxy option instead of individual 6mm buildings.
Well done and nice models. This is an idea we had already adopted in our home-built terrain and utilising some of Brigade Models' range of "Small Scale Scenery". We also base all our 6mm figures (Ancients and Napoleonic) on 60x60mm bases, rather than 60x30mm. Feel that it gives us more modelling scope. So now all I need is a Celtic hillfort to hold a 60x60mm figure base! And a Near East village as well.....
We will be adding extra 'frames' for larger areas, but no plans yet for an enlarged hill fort.
Bought a fair few terrain pieces in the past from Baccus and it’s always been quality. Maybe with my next order as nearly at my 1 v 1 sized Roman legion
These look great!
These are great - I've already downscaled to 3mm building for my 6mm, but this new stuff would give me even more options
Brilliant stuff. You solve the problem of buindings on the tabletop. The Vauban fort reminds me of a wonderful visit to the Dutch city of Naarden a few years back. I'd heartily recommend it to anybody in the area.
What a great idea, these are fantastic.
The Celt hill forts & Roman forts will be my next buy. A great Video Peter, Thank You
The Celtic and Roman pieces are my favorites!
Great video and a really inspiring and innovative idea. Well done. I assume we will be able to see some of these at the Joy of six
You will indeed. I would hope to have added to the range by then.
Thats fantastic! ❤
Very interesting ! One idea comes to mind .. That is having town walls etc that come in two halves to accommodate larger bases ?
We are looking at options on those lines.
lovely stuff
Cunning, smart and well produced. You may well drag a stubborn scratchbuilder of all things terrainy away from his Stanley knife and XPS... (there's really no way I can see to scratchbuild consistently at that size!) Given the strategic importance of built up areas in many eras I can see this adding to the both visual and grand tactical aspects of a battle. You showed Gettysburg, but the one that sprang to my mind was Fredericksburg. Indeed I can see this approach changing, (over time), the look of my battlefields. I look forward to the expansion of the TTT range especially into C19 American and European villages, towns and even cities.... Great Work! Enjoy your holiday.
That's absolutely outstanding Pete 👍 loving the fortification option as well
I love this idea - I've thought, for a number of years, about the problems due to the difference (in most periods / rule sets) between figure scale and ground scale. With my main (only) period being WWII the difference between the figure scale (circa 1/285th) and the ground scale (1/2000th - old UK rules such as Firefly, Combined Arms WRG etc.) is rather noticeable and having a built up area look right without taking up most of the table can be a stuggle. This concept looks like it will go a good way to solving some of this disparity. Of course, I'll have to wait until the range grows enough to also include more modern urban centres. Hopefully the range will prove popular enough that will eventually happen.
Very nice indeed!
Excellent stuff and would also be great for 2mm as well
Bloody great work! I've used 3mm buildings with my 6mm moderns before to get this effect but would gladly pick up some ready-made settlements like these
The first thing that struck me was hooray, buildings that are perfect for Strength and Honour 2mm games. I know that isn't what they are intended for, but very welcome nonetheless. I can't find them on your website except for the Middle Eastern Village. Is that a mistake on my part or will they become available soon?
I was called away from the office just as I was adding the range to the site. The rest of the first batch will be available shortly.
Brilliant idea... A couple of ideas/suggestions Any chance of NW Europe WW2? Also, could you make them at 30mm x 60mm, to enable more variety to outline of villages? Cheers Ian
Absolutely spectacular. I was recently trying to figure out how to handle 6mm grand battles with smaller terrain. I live close to Maiden Castle so this new release of yours has come along at an excellent time. Thanks for continuing to do stuff!
Absolutely brilliant idea Pete 👍🏻
Thanks 👍
Ordered some austrian line infantry. Took my money out of my account still havent come abd its been a month. Im in belfast
Please email me directly with the details and I can sort this out for you.
Just about to put my order in for an army to fight my Baccus Carthage army
Thanks for a very enjoyable and informative video. Just looking at starting 6mm and so this is just what I needed. Have also subbed. Thanks again, Keith.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Narrative requires attention
Some beautiful minis in a beautiful period!
I really love these videos and appriciate that you make them, Peter.
