I think Knuckles should be just Knuckles and thats it but i do also believe that he has more of a connection to black cultural stuff but i just believe that sonic characters are sonic characters and people shouldn’t enforce their own beliefs on them. I never understood why people started saying that these non-human characters are "black," because it never makes sense. Sure, they may be certain things about their character that can vaguely relate to black culture, but it usually doesn't stem from black culture, nor is it supposed to be strictly black. Plus, as you basically said, "black coding" is rather racist. Why can't they just be their own thing? It also seems weird to me that they would get so offended seeing someone who's "not black" have something that is allegedly "black," yet they want these obviously non-black characters to be black? It seems almost hypocritical to me.
