I made the mistake of falling in love and marrying a woman with dissociative identity disorder. We were married eight years and I loved her daughter like my own. It turns out she was cheating on me with lots of different guys for at least five of those eight years and she finally got caught - but not by me. The rumors around our small community started to surface. She uprooted her daughter's life (after 9 years with me and friends and family) and fled across the country. She claims to have no idea about what she has done and says she never cheated but it's impossible for me to believe it when people have come out of the woodwork recently to tell me and I found old (and very explicit) text messages in her old phone; she claims she didn't write them. Her "alter" admitted to me about "crossing the line" and threatened to block my texts/calls to my ex (and likely would block my step daughter as leverage too) so I keep it civil and my mouth shut. Yes, there were clues all along but she was very good at hiding her tracks and would get upset when I doubted my trust in her so I figured all was well. I know we can't see the future and we can't go back in time, but except for getting to raise an awesome stepchild, I would NEVER have even introduced myself to this woman in the first place all those years ago. There were lies and inconsistencies in her stories of past relationships from the time we started dating - I should have walked after strike two. Live and learn.

I remember this one time. Times were tough. I had just started a new job. My kids mom (wife) had bailed on us. I had to stop at the store and get some milk and some diapers. I hadn’t eaten in like 2 weeks. My card got declined cus broke. I just froze and was staring at my kid. This lady behind tapped me on the shoulder and said she would pay for it. I couldn’t talk. Then she asked me if I had eaten lately. I still couldn’t talk. She paid for the milk and diapers, and asked me again if I had eaten. I finally found my voice and thanked her and left the store and then tears started down my face. Like ugly cry tears. Ma’am I haven’t seen you since that day. But thank you. You have no idea how close things were for me then.

I got out of a verbally, mentally and physically abusive husband. And now I'm with someone and he has some same traits. He gets mad bc of me talking about good times in my past. I was with my husband from the time I was 17 years old till I was 42 years old. This new guy makes me feel so bad at times and tells me I don't think it's going to work out between us, bc I don't t do some small things he wants me to do. Like to not talk about my dog I left behind and sad stuff. But my therapist told me I need to. I just feel like I want to jump off a bridge, or into the water and let go of my life. I feel like all I do is hurt the people I love. And I have no were else to go. I fell like I'm wast of space on top of that I have epilepsy seizures that don't help.
