Recently got a Portofino myself My insurance was in August £2600 for A McLaren A tuned svr jag A Mercedes A van And the Portofino which replaced the mclaren was a refund of £140 then as I’ve still got the McLaren until sold that’s just £80 a Month . I was surprised how good the portofino is and it looks so much better in the flesh than in pictures and feels almost as fast as the McLaren but way more comfortable

Hey KSL Just wanted to say how much I enjoy your channel. A proper owners view and really valuable for that. Was in the market for a super GT convertible this summer and agonised over the Portofino M but in the end went for a Vanquish S Volante. More basic tech, no electronic park brake for a starter. Am with Locktons too and might look at a collectors policy. What mileage do your insure your cars for? I have the Aston at 8k miles a year as I had no idea how much I'd drive it this first year. £2k for that and will need to adjust that down at renewal but like you say, a brilliant package they offer. I guess the Aston is somewhat more fragile than a Portofino but hey ho. Loving your F12 commentaries and really (really) keen on that though... Mrs is too with that luggage space. Put electric ignition on my mac , tranformed my attitude towards riding Velocette. Almost 5000miles on 3years. Love it .

There`s a certain technique in starting a velo.as follows: 1 find TDC then 2 use valve lifter and depress kick start one stoke to bottom of stroke then 3 big kick. It shoud fire up after 1 or 2 of tries.. If no success look for other reason eg mag or carb Hope I`m not teaching my grandma how to suck eggs.

You need to follow the correct starting procedure as detailed in the owners manual, it’s unlike any other bike. Plus a good mag is essential.

If you think your bike is uncomfortable my advice is try riding a bike with a more extreme riding position. Not that I find my BMW R nineT Racer as uncomfortable as it’s made out to be but I went out for a ride on my brother’s Royal Enfield 250 Continental GT fitted with clip ons which is a real wrist breaker ! When I got back on my bike it was like riding an R1200RT ! 😂🇬🇧

I went from a Kawasaki 650 sport bike to a BMW R1250GSA to be more comfortable, I kept it for 2 years and it wasn't my kind of bike, so I've just traded it in on a brand new S1000R, it is fantastic and I don't find it uncomfortable like RUclips reviewers claim it is, I'm 68 and ride as long as the tank lasts, only stopping to fuel up, on the Kawasaki I used to get pain in the butt, lower back, cramped knee's and numb hands after an hours ride, I don't suffer any of this on the S1000R, I intend to keep riding it until I'm forced not to.

Hi iam over 70 got the new 750 hornet, put handle bar risers on like yourself. Never looked back.

I am am a more mature rider and before riding Harleys I had an r6 , i used to get pins and needles in my hands and cured it by installing risers.

i bought an R E continental 650 cafe racer but it morphed into an interceptor for the same reason .

I got new foot rests that had an inch drop on them and that helped with the knees . That was on a Fireblade . Ha ha I then tried a Harley and it was sooooo comfortable!!!!

Awesome machine! Clever modification! Have to say, I don't like ABS or traction control but I have got use them and realize their safety advantages!

I think the rear sets are even more important than the bars when it comes to sport bike riding positions. I finally sold my R1 when I got to 70 because I was only riding it for 20 minutes here and there and the bike deserved better. It's the same reason that I like ADVs. The dirt bike riding position means I can ride for hours (prostate willing) so I have had 3 of them in the last 20 years: V-Strom, Multistrada and now a KTM 1290 SAS.

If the bike doesn’t fit ,it’s uncomfortable for anyone,it’s worse when you’re older. Don’t knock riding when you’re older.

Delightful video! I am probably about your age, and I seem to have something in common: a modern sports bike with handlebar risers to make it more comfortable, and then a couple of old bikes with a "regular" riding position. I also have a Honda GB500, which of course is styled after your Velocette, and so has beautiful looks but is easy to start. I remember (with a smile) a humorous motorcycle magazine article from about 1966 about a guy trying to starting his Velocette, describing his rhyming expletives and his wife checking in from the house asking him if he "almost" has it started. It is satisfying to see that yours started easily.

Its amazing the difference a small modification makes. This news is going to benefit many owners.

Cost of fuel must be something like ¼ of the actual cost per mile, if you calculate the depreciation, maintenance, warranties, paint, cost to rent/tie up a few hundred £K etc

lovely cars but I'm waiting a bit yet. I think in another 1-2 years time they will be under £100k much like the californias went down rapidly and at that point it will be a steal. I've just clocked over 50k miles on my 458 as well no chance I'm selling that.

And he’s me the other way around swapping my 600lt spider for a portifino (the other half’s choice ) as to be in gialla Moderna .like you say a little more usable. Doult it would get the attention the McLaren gets tho . I’ve just heard horror stories about the portifino dct gear box going up tho that puts me off maybe the M with the new 8 speed would be better !!

my only complaint about the f12 is that they made it with a short not well proportioned tail. otherwise it looks amazing
