    I think this video does the community of Wetaskiwin a great disservice. No community is without its challenges. We chose to move to Wetaskiwin a few years ago. The people are friendly, the city is welcoming, has a lot of services and is well managed. Moving here was a good choice and we do not regret it one bit.

      If you enjoy drugs. This is the town for you. If you enjoy your kids playing in parks with needles, homeless crazy people rubbing shit all over the entry way to the grocery store or knife stabbings and daily shootings - this is the town for you. Everyone else without their head in the sand....move along.

      i look for houses here. i saw crack heads everywhere. the police said we could not drive down one street because of stabbing. i saw tent city where bumms and drugs are. my friend got hit with a bottle when he said no to a woman on drugs selling her body. this is not good town. stay away. real estate person said do not buy houses here. it is all going down hill. i saw.

      I am sorry about that. You can slow them down by doing this: Go To Settings and choose your desired playback speed. You can make it so it goes by at 1/4 the speed or 1/2. I hope that helps, Thank you!

    UH no mention of how the cree tribe of Hobbema - a once thriving economic nation who got all their riches from oil reserve, that have since dried up, and how fast the town grew bc Hobbema Nation Members were spendinging the vast majority of their wealth in this town, It's so obvious that there is a very HIGH CORRELATION between the dried up oil rigs and the sad state of the economy and all the crime, drugs and alcohol that come with a depressed economy, Do your research right!!!

    Used to live here, I liked it a lot, the prices used to be brutal for any sort of shopping but I heard they swapped owners not long after I moved out. Commute was a problem going to school in Airdrie but overall it was a nice place to live at the time.

    I lived in Gleichen back in 1977-79. My Dad was head of the RCMP Detachment there. Went to Gleichen Elementary school (looks gone now!) across the street from that Water tower - and right beside the Cemetery! Yes, We had recess right beside the cemetery. This video is bringing back some memories!!

      The school was closed in 2016 and needed at least $300,000 for a new roof and structural support plus an estimated $200K for other repairs. In 2019 it was torn down. I didnt even know Gleichen had a cemetery! LOL. I may have to return to see it. Thanks for visiting and thanks for the comment!

    Drove through there lots of times in the late 70's and early 80's when my parents had a cabin in Hidden Valley Resort. If you would have continued South the road dips into a valley, you go over a blue trestle bridge that crosses the Bow River, a few hundred yards further was the entrance. All of it got wiped out by the 2013 flood. It was never rebuilt because of issues between the Resort ownership and Siksika Nation. I must say the town and area look better now than back then.

No offence to the southern Rockies but I've no need to photograph your mountains. I am excited to try capture the grasslands, farming history, and a terrain that I don't have access to where I live.       @@livinginalbertanow selfishly ; if any towns/villages have noteworthy hotels …that would be a point of interest for travellers such as myself. The Alaska Hwy had a whole ecosystem of lodges and roadhouses that have been strangled by modern travel. I’d guess 75% of the businesses operating in the late 1990’s are shuttered. Sad.
