I've always said this As a human Liam was a idiot and a bit of a dick. As Angelus he was vicious with no trace of humanity As a human William was a kind hopeless romantic As a vampire he was bad but parts of William survived. In the end despite being a vampire buffy treated spike as a man. And spike loved Buffy even without a soul. Spike even tried to do good without a soul. Angelus Carried on being vicious. Spike was the better fit. Would always be by her side treating her as a equal. To be friend and lover. Though many people do support Buffy and angel I think they were first loves. And that's very important. But spike and angel were a more mature love. There relationship grew more real

Looks like very recently, EVEN JOSS said Spike was the right couple for Buffy!! He created the character and it took years and years for him to realize that! I mean, he wasn't obviously a right couple for anybody at the beginning, but the fully developed ensouled Spike became the most amazing person in the world!! (well, after Cordelia)

And season 6 is my favorite.

At the end of Season 7, I'm sorry but Buffy would end up with Spike. He isn't the wrong guy anymore but a really dependable one on which she can count on but still has more personality than Angel. Too often Season 7 is overlooked because of the potentials and the lack of focus on the scoobies (big problemes I agree) but the Spike and Buffy relationship was the best thing we got out of it. Also Buffy and Angel were so cheesy and superficial together they made me laugh especially compared to the other amazingly portrayed relationships in this show.

hmm. I'm not sure I've always been more of a spuffy fan but I'm pretty sure even through I haven't read the whole season8 that buffy does end up with spike at end of season8. Plus with the whole angle being twilight thingy during season8 yeah I don't see things really working well between those two inless angle does bring giles back

James Marsters sings too. As a Spike/Dru fan, now I'm secretly wishing James and Juliet will someday do a duet.

Honestly... the only reason I like Spuffy is because I love Spike and Spike loves Buffy and I want him to be happy. If him and Faith got together, it'd be much better because I actually LIKE her character. No offence to SMG, but Buffy pisses me off.

If Buffy chose Angel, Spike should be with Faith. I like Faith much more :-)

It was always Buffy and Angel right from the beginning!! James is exactly right!! If u watch both Buffy and Angel even though they may have had other relationships or feelings for other people they never really loved any of them and never said it either!! Angel and Buffy would have ended up 2gether because they loved each other so much!!

Oh really! OMG. That is so sad. He was so much younger than I thought he was too! I thought he was older than I was then. Weirdly I wondered if it had been a heart thing of all things. In real world i couldnt care less if buffy was to choose Angel or spike. But for the sake of the show and entertainment itself, Bangel is boring. Smoochies, fights, smoochies, oh and more smoochies. At least there's sparkles and fire and substance with Spuffy.

@Buffy4SpikeFan There are a lot of both but i think BA fans are also David Boreanaz fans and he's had a new show and new love Bones for 7 years now.Whereas SB fans are James fan and well......Some one needs to give this Truly Amazing man his own show :) But in the end she did not end up with either. Angel and Spike were left standing side by side in that ally and she was doing the immortal another vampire the girl is a slow learner, Buffy The Vampire LAYER lol

nope - he wouldn't have been in the audience watching someone else. Because someone else would have only been cast for the original two or three eps the character was originally scripted in before being killed by Buffy as written. James' protrayal of Spike was what won over the audiences in such a way that they kept clamoring for more and they elected to make him a bigger part of the series due to demand for MORE SPIKE! I, for one, STILL can't enough Blondie Bear! <3

I think he's right that the writers meant Buffy and Angel to belong together in the series at that point, but after reading season 8 we can see that she always ends up falling apart from Angel whereas Spike is still there. So Buffy should definitely be with Spike. Anyway, that's my opinion. Sorry for all the Bangel fans out there.
