    What does it mean if when you check the common wire and dedicated wire and the reading is way below 20?

    • @sprinklerrepair4L
      @sprinklerrepair4L День назад

      Most of the time it means solenoid is bad or going bad. If 2 zone are wired together u get half of the reading and it’s okay.

    I am getting a error on my controller that says Check Valve 2. Valve 2 is zone 2. If i turn the valve to the on position then the sprinklers comes on and they work. But they won't turn off unless I manually close the valve. I am think it's the solenoid and I will try to replace just that this weekend and see how it goes.

      Yes, agreed a bad solenoid is the most common reason for an error on your controller.

    Could you help me with a question? I just installed a 6 zone Orbit controller but I only have 5 zones to my system. I have wires to the 5 zones but the 6th is not connected. My system is hooked up to a GCFI receptacle and whenever the system gets to the 6th zone it trips the GCFI. Can I just put a jump wire from 5 to 6 to prevent the tripping? Thanks for your time.

    • @sprinklerrepair4L
      @sprinklerrepair4L 12 дней назад

      If you don’t have time on the 6th zone then I can’t see how it would even go to the 6th zone to trip it. Orbit should have a help line. I would call them and see what they say.

    So I have 11 zones in my system. My system runs off of a shallow well with a 2 Hp pump. System comes on fine with timer and works great until it reaches zone # 8. At that point pressure drops dramatically in zone #8 and only a small stream comes from one or two of that zones heads. I then go to my well pump and crack the threaded bleeder on top of the impeller housing. air bubbles will then come out and within a minute or two zone #8 will pressurize and come to life. The system will then finish off the remaining watering cycle without a hitch. Next day this same problem will repeat. What might I check in my system? Thanks

    Yard plumbing so called online resources seem to be incapable of explaining what you think would be their bread and butter. 20+ sites either explain how water gets to and flows thru the house or focus only on irrigation. They seem to be completely baffled in combining the two. Many state that the water from the water mains goes straight to the hot water heater or some other device. Why do they, in these instances, absolutely ignore the irrigation system. I can only assume they are being purposefully unhelpful, are simply lying or are incapable of adding together 1 + 2. since they work with this everyday system as a career, it seems impossible to ignore one or the other without some ulterior purpose. You are the only one to point out that the main T's off to irrigation and to house. Thank you , I thought I would drown in incompetence. Imagine a cooking site that can explain how to make the sauce and simply tells you to cook the pasta separate; absolutely incapable of explaining that the pasta must be boiled.....in water. It's frustrating that they post their incompetent drivel causing info pollution that one must wade through their useless or misleading advice victim of comprehensive communication skills so awful one can only conclude that they are deceitful or nefarious in some way. I just wish you could have defined the pipe names and sizes. Specifically the supply line to the T or supply to irrigation. And possibly how to repair a leak in the threads connecting the main to the irrigation input. I don't see a T branch off to the house but thanks to you, i know it's there. If i push on the threads of the input to the irrigation system, the leak stops, right where the mushroom/ hex sided 'head' threads over the input/source pipe. Wish my lexicon was better. But I am seeking knowledge, not polluting searches with useless hubris. Thanks

    I really appreciate the time you took to explain all of this. I'm currently having an issue that I'm fairly certain is a broken wire (which is odd since there's been no digging or manipulating of any kind). Luckily this is only a short run from the pro-c and the valve box, so I'm going to run a temporary above ground as a test. At the valve box I'm getting around 20 ohms (I'm assuming that's just coming from the solenoid). But at the controller I get nothing. At the controller I'm getting about 26VAC, but nothing at the valve box. Seems like a bogus wire to me. Thanks again!!!

      @@sprinklerrepair4L Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's a wire problem. I don't have a tool to check for where it might be broke, but definitely not getting voltage (or any resistance) out to the box (on any conductor). It's a pretty straight shot, so I'm assuming maybe my garage or the ground settled? I don't know other than it's weird LOL.

    I have a wire that was chewed into by gophers. I can see that where it’s chewed, the wire is completely corroded. I cut a section of wire, about 1 foot of wire, but I see the wire is still green one both ends of the cut further along the wire path. Can that wire still be repaired? Or if a wire is corroded, is that wire just not good at all anymore?

    • @sprinklerrepair4L

    I’ve got a 4 zone system the previous home owner put in, with 2 extra colored wires not connected at the control box or to any valve. The solenoids are like 250’ from the controller box. Will this work to test the continuity of the unused wires as I’d like to use them to add zones, and not damage anything while testing ? If I unplug the power to the control box from the wall, take the two colored unused wires and touch a 9v battery lead to each wire. Then at the solenoid 250’ away test the voltage of the 2 unused colored wires with my multimeter connected to each wire. Will this work as a continuity test? If any voltage shows up, it shows the wires have no breaks. And if anything is connected to those wires it shouldn’t damage it right bc it’s only 9v, right? Thanks for any help on this.

I have a 6-Zone Rain Bird system that's connected to a relay, there's power going to the relay from the breaker, and the Rain Bird system is also powered, all the wiring running to and from both units look good, but I cant' get the water-pump to turn on. Where or what else should I be looking for?
