    I just discovered your channel tonight and I must say that you are an excellent instructor. Two weekends ago, I replaced a sprinkler valve and while I'm a very handy guy, I've never done any type of work with sprinkler systems. So I did a lot of research and of course I watched dozens of RUclips videos during that research. The way I approach any type of instruction is the way I used to instruct my employees when I was in the financial services industry; not just how to do it but why do you do it?
    In your videos that I've seen so far, you have taken that approach and since you give a logical explanation as to why you do what you do, I have confidence in the material you're presenting even though I have no experience with this type of work.
    Specifically with the valve I replaced, I knew that a twist was recommended by a lot of people and Oatey as well, so when it came time to attach the valve to the existing pipes, with no way to twist since there was an intake and output valve, I was worried that over time my repair would fail. My attempt to address that issue involved ensuring that I had more than enough cement on all the contact points (after primer of course), and hold it all together for 2 minutes instead of the 30 seconds Oatey recommends. After you mentioned it in your video, I was finally able to feel relieved that the repair would be just fine. I've also checked for leaks everyday that the sprinkles have turned on and I'm happy to report that there's no leaks and everything is working just fine. Our landscaper quoted us $110 for the repair with a one year warranty. I spent ~$35 for some PVC (since one of the pipes broke because it was so brittle when I cut it), couplers, and the valve. Saved ourselves $75 for about an hour of work only because I take my time prepping before I execute.
    Again, thank you for taking the time to record and share your knowledge. Awesome channel! Subscribed and set for notifications. God bless!!

    Great videos. I also appreciate you calling me back about my question regarding turn on of a system in the spring. You are a stand up guy. Thanks from the rocky Mountains of Idaho!

    Very simply. 2 slips. (Elbowing up doesn’t help me or the tangent newfangled sure to leak stretch Armstrong version) the new pipe is same or slightly smaller for new fits

    Uh thanks but is the measurement the same for the new pipe going in. Or a 1/4” shorter?

    What's the average cost to cap off a sprinkler line that goes to a sprinkler head that is under a concrete patio in the DFW?

      @sprinklerrepair4L  2 года назад

      It just depends on if you have to reroute the pipe or if you can cut it off where it is entering under the patio. You’re talking 100 bucks if you can enters under the patio, but the other way all depends on what has to be done….

    Do you have any videos on what size sprinkler pipe to use?

    • @sprinklerrepair4L
      @sprinklerrepair4L  2 года назад

      No, I don’t. Since I focus on repairs, I never replace pipe to a smaller size. Most all cases I replace either same size pipe.
