I also think the reason why Humanity kept blood fueled machines is because so much effort, resources and time was put into it that it was more efficient to have it. But when the New Peace came about and with the war engine dying down. It's easier to use what you have on hand than to search for alternatives. It worked too, they cleaned up to a point where humanity felt comfortable in searching and developing other energy sources.

I wanted to make my own comment on the story of BOTW. I don’t exactly care for the *main* story, but I love THE story of breath of the wild. To me, the story is the namesake, the wild. The story is the beautiful but broken land of Hyrule. It’s a story of the people’s attempts to survive in an uncaring and often hostile world. BOTW isn’t just about Link’s journey to recover his memories, but about his time amongst the remaining people of the world. It’s about rebuilding Terry town, about the little quests in the stables, about the few brave souls wandering the land. There’s this stark contrast in the memories. You get taken back to a time of sprawling kingdoms and technological studies, just to snap back to the present, where Link takes a minute to internalize what happened and……continue on with his current life, trying to survive.

I wonder if the reason machines made during the New Peace were fueled by blood is because humanity had forgotten how to make machines. If they had spent at least a century having machines whose sole purpose was to make machines, they wouldn't have needed to make them. So, when the New Peace came about, humanity didn't know how to make the cleaning and working machines they would need, so had to rely on the machine making machines. Those were designed for war so only knew how to create machines fueled by blood, so that's what was created during the New Peace
