Black Mesa Necro Patch - Auto Aim Showcase
As part of the Necro Patch: ( store.steampowered.com/news/app/362890/view/4174347361777844150 ), Black Mesa added Controller support via Steam Input API while adding [or rather: overhauling] Auto-Aim feature sets, but the default value [as of this writing] is set too high-- thankfully: you can tweak the value with any way you want via "Skill.ctg" file (recommended) or Console Commands.

    Thanks for the video, I'm about half way through on steamdeck and the auto aim Is so annoying. I get stuck on an enemy when I'm trying to take cover. Or can't switch to the nearest enemy. Will try adjusting the figures!

      Auto-Aim toggle is completely separate from Gamepad Input. thus: you can have Auto-Aim even on Keyboard/Mouse....and I do not recommend enabling it, if you're gonna be using stock Auto-Aim values or my custom values.

      The main problem is the current default Auto Aim's magnetism being setup too aggressively, taking control away from the player in the process. This took me a while to learn how this works, *the only one you'll need to be mindful around is magnetism* . Thankfully: I did shared my configs over on Black Mesa discord server and at least one of the devs may give it another pass. My hope with my feedback and this video is to inspire Crowbar to expand the Auto-Aim toggle with different modes to account for various input metjod and play styles.

      I was thinking more of the PlayStation 2 version of _Half-Life 1_ where you could snap to toggle (say like, use L1 or L2 to lock-on or switch targets). Ditto _Metroid Prime_ or the third-person EA James Bond games _(Everything or Nothing, From Russia with Love)_ where you could lock on to the target and do some fine-tuned free-aiming.

    Did you try to use the Steam Controller as a standard Xbox controller, but swapping to keyboard & mouse input through an Action Set only while you're holding the Left Trigger to aim? Played this game on PS4 and would like to replay it on the Steam Deck with a Steam Controller while trying to find a solution for the lack of mixed input.

    Player, World, and Local space. What would be the direct translation in the case of gravity vector? Modern Warfare II uses the same method of Switch games like Breath of The Wild, which is very intuitive. The controller is constantly looking for what direction is down (in real world), and that's a really nice and dynamic combination of yaw and roll, as it "uses" an imaginary vector perpendicular to gravity in order to be much more intuitive.

    Author's Note: Between 3:56 - 4:10 ; I'll suggested putting the Mouse DPI slider, but in reality: we're bypassing the requirement that was set by the calculator maintainers. As of November 26th, 2023: *the mouse-sensitivity website has been updated to remove the Mouse DPI Requirement when using the Unit as Count* . Thus: that segment in the video can be skipped entirely. :)

    How do you enable Native Gyro Aim on PC? I'm using my Steam Controller and there's no option in the menu for Gyro. Does the option only appear when the game detects a PlayStation or Nintendo Switch Pro Controller? Edit: Before anyone says: "Just use mouse as gyro." I'm trying to figure this out because I want to enable Gyro Aiming in Split Screen Multiplayer.

      I think the feature only works with dualshock 4 and dualsense controllers. There's probably some software that can disguise the sc as one of the two if you really want the native gyro implementation.

    How did you capture both ps5 gameplay and your controller moving with the unscreen controller overlay? I have the same overlay on steam. But it requeres the controller to be conected to the pc instead of the ps5. Can this be done through remote play? because i want to make a comparison video on the native gyro aiming on the part 1 remake and the gyro as a mouse on pc. On pc the only thing that the port house did corrctly was the fact that it can use mixed inputs. Even the pc version of uncharted has mixed inputs. Soemthing that alot of company's seem to get wrong on pc. Also some pc games have forced on mouse acceleration. Wich is horrible in my opinion. i cant seem to grasp why developers choose to foce mouse acceleration instead of making correct raw mouse inputs. I dont know much about coding. But if the basics logic of coding are the same in any language (like javascript) then raw mouse input is easily coded with just telling the engine that inputs == output. I know alot of unreal engine games seem to have forced mouse acceleration. So maybe developers just use the aiming mechanics that are availbable in that engine. instead of coding the whole thing themselfs. Even on games like days gone theire are some problems. The latest patch seems to introduce camera jitter with mixed inputs (i thought you also mentioned that on your days gone video). So i had to figure out on what patch it was introduced. then i just donwloaded the older version. Some games like Shadow warior 3 and evil west lets you remove the acceleration by adding one single line of code to the input.ini file. But back to the last of us part 1 remake and two. I think both of these games have a way to low sensitivity setting. And they dont use the natural sensitvity scale. wich is just basic. The only Sony title that sort of got it right was God of war RAgnarok. my usual sensitivity is 1:4. Both the last of us games offer a 1:2 settings as the higest. God of war ragnarok has a 1:3 setting. Wich is just one setting to low for me. But it is workable. Atleast the last of us seemed to have mouse like gyor instead of the horrible analog gyro. Analog gyro seems a better name then rights stick simulated gyro. And my last point is that games like uncharted and the last of us play way better with flick stick. I even use it on the Resident evil 4 remake. Wich finally offerrs mixed inputs. And with the lastest steam beta update the gyro will filter out smaller movements, so the inputs wont flicker as much on that game. I hope you can answer my questions about the recoding stuff i asked. And i hope you make new video''s in the future aswell.

    Days gone gyro sucks unfortunately... Sensitivity is just way too low, and it feels unresponsive. It's so annoying when you see an enemy at the edge of your screen, but you can't turn towards it (using gyro) because the sensitivity is too low. It seems to preserve distances, so I don't think it actually has acceleration, but it feels like there is some smoothing or something, so it still doesn't track one-to-one.

      I suggest reading up JibbSmart's Player Space Gyro article for more details, but I'll summaries it: Local Space cares about being fixed to the object (IMU Sensor). World Space cares about the world surrounding the object (IMU Sensor). Player Space cares about the player's body.

    Amazing setup, installed and playing in minutes. I wonder though if analog movement could be a feature in the future? No idea how complicated it would be; as if I'm understanding right the game is being translated FROM analog to KB+M and then BACK onto the controller to get the absolute fine aim controls. It's really the only thing I'm missing considering how fast the movement is, being able to just pull back on the left stick and go slower would be phenomenal.

    I'm going to be the filthy contrarian and say that the original fight seems a lot more memorable than this one and also more in keeping with the game's "post modern" deconstruction approach to JRPGs. This version just seems like a straight parody of cliche JRPG final bosses (stupid angel wings, etc.) which is less interesting to me. Maybe the original fight could have been tweaked to make the scene more impactful, but I would have kept the original alpaca saying "Lemonade!" with the silly but dissonant music.

    The writing in this show is fantastic, if the acting was better it could be one of the best
