I removed my old alternator by cutting plastic from intake manifold but still kept the nipple without fully sawing it off. The plastic nipple is where the engine cover bottom right corner snaps in to. I also cut 1/2in from connector that’s on the alternator that sticks out. Then I removed the alternator. I had to sand down bottom right and top left corners from new alternator at least 1/16th. So that I had enough clearance for the OFHG (top alt.) and also allowing bottom side of alt. to slide in to place easier. I did not have to remove a/c compressor Or metal bracket behind a/c compressor. I made sure not to sand off too much so that the new alternator fit nice and snug. I used a rubber matter to line up the alternator bolt holes. I did not have to cut connector from new alternator. Took me 1 hr to do this job without removing intake manifold. 2014 bmw f30 n55

How the heck did you get the new one BACK IN ??? Ive gotten the old one out via the hack and shaving some plastic off of that plastic post. But i CANNOT get the new alternator to slip back into the "bottom bracket".

I have a simple but important question that maybe you can help me with. I have driven/owned an e30 325is and an e90 sedan, but am considering a 2014 335xi M-Sport with a 6-Speed. So it's literally the best 3-Series F30 you can buy without going to the M3. My question is, does this car in "Sport Plus" mode feel as nimble and buttoned-down as the much loved e90 generation? This is really important to me as I am thinking of buying that car online without ever driving one. And I have heard a lot of complaints online and on RUclips that BMW has lost it's way with the chassis dynamics, and too much body roll. Thanks to all that respond! -Dave

As others have mentioned, you put it on wrong. You need to remove the original knob top black part and silver ring thereafter before putting the new parts on

Shitty introduction but a good review

The only thing i think its really bad in f30 r the seats. Too damn shalow......i mean in a bit harder curvs the seat cant hold a driver in place. B4 the bmw i had an Alfa GT and the seats r awsome. Stock seats not sport aftermarket seats. And a sound sistem too. Bose original with amp and woof in the trunk.......bmw sound sistem sux. Dont know how is harman cardon but standard sound is really bad.

How is the cargo/cabin space compared to your e39? Read those new G20s are about the same size as an e39. An F30 would presumably be a little less roomier.

i have a F33, without a rear cam, does the wiring loom contain the cable that i can connect to?

Under 6 second 0-100, very good fuel consumption, amazing 8speed gearbox. It does have some negatives but idk, i feel like it has way more positives.

F30 335i are so good

The pre-LCI engines all have weird idle sounds, but the LCI engines fixed it. The B48 and B58 both sound fantastic at idle, and the B48 is so much smoother than the N20 that there really isn't a meaningful way to compare them.

I own a 2012 f30 335i and I'm the second owner. It's has 87k on it and I'm just trying to get all the maintenance done so it can last me. It's not my daily so I'm planning on doing some nice mods to it.

Hey would you know if 19x8.5 et30 square would fit on an F30?

I'm not really enjoying my F30. It doesn't do sport or luxury well, at all. The G20 generation seems like what the F30 should have been -- much more sorted out.

i own a 328i ix drive F30 as well and i love it .. i dont need the extra speed for an extra 10 grand because i am not racing anyone .. i could easily upgrade for $1500 with a few aftermarket tweeks and make it just as fast or faster than the 335 if i was interested in speeding.

you installed it wrong. you have to remove parts of the original knob. there's videos on RUclips that show how to remove the parts. if you search bmw idrive controller knob it'll come up.

Great comparison video, i own an f30 328 and they are definitely still a great budget option compared to the 335i. The 328i is pretty quick and peppy stock and are very impressive once you add a tune.
