Hello everyone! Thank you for stopping by.
I've been playing tennis since I was 6 years old. Tennis has been a big part of my life and although I never thought of going pro or anything, I still enjoy heated exchanges and rallies as much as the next guy. Recently, I have come to realize that tennis gear has a big influence on a player's game and I am here to help you navigate the jungle which is the world of tennis equipment. I am also a USPTA certified pro and coached for 8 years. I specialize in doubles so my videos and perspectives are largely shaped from a doubles player's perspective.
I have also recently started playing pickleball and I'm having a blast so I will post videos of my matches from time to time.

Babolat Pure Strike 97 Gen 4 Review
You are spot on Caviar mains with slick round poly [like Enso Pro] in crosses is a deadly combination! Been using this blend for a while, performs great in all aspects (control, feel spin, power, durability, comfort, tension maintenance). I string my Vcore 95 16x20 at same 48lbs for mains and crosses.
Do you think this would be a good option for an all court game in the blade pro 16x19 v9?
What about textreme 100 290g Vs ATS 100 290g?
Those rackets are too light for me so unfortunately, I won't be testing them
Check out Toroline if you want to try Caviar and other strings! toroline.com/OPENCOURT Use the code OPENCOURT for a 20% discount on your entire order!!
You will HATE Grapplesnake M8 as its SO muted. You just cannot feel the ball with that string. Soft string as well which is not what you tend to like based on your reviews.
Thank you for the heads up. I will still be testing it though because I've never tried anything from the brand
I had hurricane 1.30 on PA98 and Restring Zero on pd Tour+ strung together both @60/60. both rackets felt very dead and boardy, no spin. after I left them for a month or so then I played them again. they both became totally different. both are very spinny, powerful yet with great control. perhaps 50-55lbs are thr best tension for both strings. imo Zero is better feel more spinny a little better than Hurricane. Both are very durable too.
While trying to get the white version since November, I finally got a message from them that yonex discontinued them which is why it was $11.00 . Can you try the other 2 , to see.how they compare to feel for serve volley singles and doubles ?
Kent, I feel pretty much the same about Wasabi and Caviar. You should try them in a hybrid. I was skeptical but very surprised. Start with Kpop and go from there. I send you a set if you want to try?
I would love to try it. Please send me an email and we can correspond.
Hybrid caviar with silver 7 tour in the mains. I think it will solve all your cons. I love it
Good idea!
I use the n-code SixOne 95 strung at 52 with ProBlend. Never looked back..power, control, feel, touch..had it all.
I tried Wasabi and really didn't like it. I have 3 Pure Strike Wimbledon特売 just like that. I string Tour Bite Soft and love it so maybe I'd like this.
So you don’t think the lack of spin potential was a dealbreaker once the string broke in?
Never thought Toroline had something for me, but we have pretty similar interests in strings so maybe Caviar deserves my attention. I think Toroline wants its customers to hybrid their strings, which I think is how a lot of Caviar customers get some spin potential back.
I wanted your suggestion on the best Solinco poly string set up for someone who puts a premium on pocketing and feel and still wants good spin and control. I am currently playing exclusively doubles with a Babolat Pure Aero - so a set-up that compliments that racquet string pattern and stiffness would be ideal. I am not opposed to using thinner gauge polys or poly hybrids to get the desired playability. I tend to like to play at lower tensions to open up the sweetspot and increase ball feel. I am currently bouncing back and forth between a full bed of Tour Bite Soft 18; Hyper-G 19; and Hyper-G soft 17 - all strung at 40 lbs. Is there another string or hybrid you think I should try? What would you personally recommend?
I think Toroline stuff was SOOOO overrated. Just tons and tons of internet marketing hype. It's not any different to loads of other poly strings.
Fair comment only if you have given Toroline a fair trial. I would encourage you to try the string if you have not.
Thank You for the Video. May ask you regarding the thickness. I m using the 1.1mm. What is the main difference in your opinion to compare the 1.1 mm with the 1.2 mm and 1.3 mm regarding of power and spin. And which thickness did you use in the video? regards from germany
I used 120mm. The thicker you go, the less power and spin you will get. Also, the launch angle will become lower and feel will be stiffer
@ appreciate and all the best for you
Which string would you prefer which has a lot of spin and also power ? ( also other brands than the V Torque Tour. Or is this the one ?
Cant wait for that first string review!
Hi Kent, I sent you an email regarding the Tourna Big Hitter Deuce 😜
Clash?
Not really a fan of the Clash line so it's not on my most anticipated list but I will see if I can get a demo
Kent - Don't bother with M8 you won't like it. It's so soft and so muted.
I didn't like the DR98. Very average. Ezone 2022 was much better.
Im not surprised. Older racquets are overrated. It doesn’t mean that because pros play with these frames that they’re the best. It’s just what they’re used to.
No love for Clash Pro V3 ? :)
Not really a fan of the Clash line so it's not on my most anticipated list but I will see if I can get a demo
Please try Percept 100. I tried P100D first, it had a really low launch angle, but when I tried P100, it’s different, it had enough power, control, spin and medium stiffness, unlike Speed Pro sometimes I felt it was unstable due to the low stiffness. Also the TF40 18x20 with 22mm beam and 100 inch head size is really good and it can compensate for the weakness and sluggish of 100 inch and 23mm beam.
Ive been on a racket journey myself this year and settled on the percept 100. Been using it since August. The percept in my opinion is a racket that gives a good connected feel at contact with the ball. The servo filter does a good job balancing between too much and too little shock absorbtion so off center hits are not overly jarring. The rackets power is player dependent on how much you put into the strokes but on good contact gives that slight edge up in power but not over the top like the vcore or ezone. control and touch is sublime. you are able to predict where the ball will land based on how you hit it and it does encourage the player to play with more finese and improve their skils. Overall the P100 is a phenomenal racket to take a player from an intermediate to entry level advance player. Matter of fact Karue sell also plays with the P100 in the D spec so that in itself should give you a good idea of what this racket can do.
Racquet tastes are so personal 😂 love the DR, Gravity Pro 1st gen, & PD!
its sad, only 80 likes on such a detailed review. thanks a lot for this work
I have bee using Hyper G soft for already 2 months (17 - 1.20 mm), tension 23 V and 22 O on ezone 100. I'm 1 88 and 86 kg, my best shot is forehand but I feel the ball stays too long on my racquet and my forehand is not that much effective. Shell I put tension down to 21V and 20 O or this is too low for those racquet/strings. Thanks in advance for your opinion.
If you drop the tension, it will lead to the ball staying longer on the strings because of increased ball pocketing. If you want the ball to come off your racket faster, you should try something more lively. Original Hyper G will be more lively but it will also be stiffer. If your arm can handle it, you can try that.
interesting. i'm still using the old wimbledon 2018 pure strike which i know you like too. maybe i'd like the head speed pro
Thanks Kent for all the video content in 2024 as your reviews are in weekly rotation with a select number of other tennis RUclipsrs. Too bad you may have less access to racquets in 2025 but honestly, I believe string reviews are maybe more interesting since the market is so flooded with strings making it impossible to really zero in on a specific brand and/or string so I can see your string comparisons between two similar string types which could add some value for players that like to string their own racquet and test polys like myself. Cheers!!
Sorry this video took so long to release. I was having issues with my computer recently. I hope you enjoy the video!
Focus on what you can have access too . See if AM Stringing can loan you . The 2025 prince ripstick and ats textremes should update in 2025 . Pro kennex I believe is Taiwan based and you should contact them or their regional rep , to more highlight them and try the carbon updated black ace pro 97 and others . Lastly building up a relationship with yonex may make sence . T- fight may be difficult for you to get , unless it's from a local store in demo
No more boom pro?
hi, are you going to review gravity tour 98? I'm really curious about your comments because on the paper it looks within your range
I am currently playtesting it. Look forward to the review
Where is the babolats ?
When you say “won’t perform well in a flexy control frame” - does the Yonex Percept 97D count as a flexy control frame?
In my opinion, a little. The Percept isn't too flexy but it is very muted.
Thanks for a really interesting string review. I used to use a full bed of Lynx Tour. Liked it for the same reasons as Kent. Then I discovered Hawk Power, which I loved as it gave more control on big swings. Definitely going to try this combo in my 2024 Speed Pro. I've recently become a bit of a low tension guy, so I'd probably get it strung at 48lbs mains & crosses.
Can you Review the Artengo Ta930 Spin in 1.25mm ? Literally no one is Talking about it and it is (IMO) the best Allrounder spin poly there is. Soft, extremely durable, cheap and still well controlled. 0 reviews of it on yt, only about few on the ta990 which is far worse imo
My go to strings are the confidential 18 gauge but lately I’ve been doing a hybrid of confidential 18 in the main and hyper G round in the cross at 53 pounds. Amazing feel and control and you can really hit through the ball and it stays in the court. Doesn’t feel mushy like a full bed of hyper G.
what did u like more pdt or pdt soft???
I'm amazed you haven't reviewed Signum Firestorm if you like connected / crisp strings. Best, most connected feeling string I've played with.
Firestorm = unpredictable, average spin, tension maintenance,...
I love Signum Pro Firestorm. Fantastic connected 'snappy' feel when striking the ball, with excellent power and control. Best feeling poly I've ever played with.
Nice, I haven't heard the comparison between Confidential and Pure Rush before! That makes me want to try Pure Rush now!
This was the WORST poly/poly hybrid I have ever tried. The stringsjust do not slide well against each other. Hawk Power as a full bed is severely lacking in spin, and pairing it with a shaped string that digs into it makes things even worse.
What’s the winning formula then ?
Have you tried Head Intellitour string? It’s also a hybrid package
Have you ever tried Tecnifibre Razor Soft? I use the 1.25 and specifically the lime color at 52lbs in my Blade 98 16x19. I find it to be the most predictable string for my game! It has great power and average spin. I just play my best tennis with it because I can just trust it to land in!
Yes I have a review on my channel. It's ok. To be honest, I don't like soft and muted strings
Wilson Champions Choice is my favorite string set-up, by far!! I'll be shocked, if you don't love it.
Try the toroline caviar 1.24 !
I am playtesting it right now and I'm loving it
Very informative review. Curious to know how would you rank these best selling strings - Hyper-G, Hyper-G Soft, Tour Bite Soft, and Volkl Cyclone (especially in the areas of SPIN and POCKETING)?
For spin: Cylone, Hyper G, Tour Bite Soft, Hyper G Soft For pocketing: Hyper G Soft, Tour Bite Soft, Cyclone, Hyper G
Thanks for the info. One more question. How would the strings rank in your Top 10 Polys this time? What are your Too 10 polys?
Any thoughts on how it compares to the 1.23 restring zero?
They feel pretty similar but the Pure Rush is softer with more pocketing. I'm planning a comparison review soon.
@@opencourt808 awesome, thanks for the reply! Looking forward to the comparison review, definitely find your reviews helpful!
Excellent review! What gauge was this white polytour rev? I'm getting the 1.20 mm
I also played the 120mm
