Today 05/31/24 I’ve released Malady of a Dying Flame on Spotify and bandcamp. 3124 was the address I spent much of my childhood growing up on Rabidue Rd. Hi all! Today I am sharing a single off of the album I've been working on since last year and talking about a recent change for me as an artist going forward. HI, Thank you very much for your kindness. I do hope there was something I was able to convey with this video. Fortunately I was able to get this one recorded and am working on that projects last release.

      @wave9256 2 месяца назад

      That's quite unfortunate to hear, your band breaking up I mean. I'll definitely be listening to that last bit whenever you drop it though. As far as stuff that I've learned, I don't plan to tune my guitar to anything that's not Drop C anytime soon (for consistency's sake and creativity's sake), but your video has gotten me to start thinking more about intervals and how they work. I was already planning on taking music theory at my community college next semester, but your video showed me a practical application of that concept, so I'm more excited than ever to go. Thanks again for your video, and I hope you're able to continue making music regardless.

    I love your style! It is extremely unique and awesome! I can definitely tell there's a MBV inspiration to your work, but you really do put your own unique spin to it. • @garrettdebell
      @garrettdebell 2 месяца назад

      Yea this album did have MBV influence for sure. Ya know I wish the same here. There seems to be a pigeon whole for what folks doing live music want to play. My screamo/punk project kind of just fell all apart two months ago and I've been disheartened knowing how hard it is to find folks whom like the same stuff. I wish for us both to have the patience and chance to meet with others that share in the joy of music we like to make. Thank you for reaching out to me and your kindness. It is greatly appreciated.

    Is that bridge pickup a p90? How is that in comparison with a humbucker? I'm eyeing one for my sg because my humbucker is too phat! Also nice video, i'd love to see one of your pedalboard, looks sick!

    • @garrettdebell
      @garrettdebell 5 месяцев назад

      Yes it is! It's a humbucker shaped p90, this one in particular is produced by Fralin. It was night and day for me. I just love the sound of single coils. This bridge had more bite and clang than the 490t's this SG came with. My neck pup is just a dummy. I will say checking out the volume and tone pots can be helpful. Higher resistances bleed more treble. My stock Gibsons were way out of spec at 200k so I swapped them out for 500k's. I can see about making a video on my board sometime!

    Nice playing! Keep it up, I just subscribed. Blixa Bargeld uses DADAAD and calls it the monochord. The last Sonic Youth album is mostly in CGDGCD. Robert Fripp uses CGDAEG, which you can't use a standard pack of strings on for the high G, but I like to play it at CGDAEE which I can get away with, with a set of 10s. First VU album used a unison tuning Lou Reed called The Ostriche from his song by the same title.

      You're right, this is rather niche. I do think there is some appeal for folks who like artists like the Microphones/The Books/Neutral Milk etc. I am being more forgiving to myself. It's a lot to do on your own and with all the music that comes out everyday I think it's fine whatever happens. It's been better since releasing the album as I've just been able to solely practice and that's felt positive. I read the description and it sounds like you're understanding that your health is priority number one. It is the foundation that everything else is built on after all. What's the point in having enjoyable songs if you're not enjoying life completely, right? Due to the time consuming nature of making quality art, it's easy to neglect important aspects of life. If taking a break is what's best, do it. If you choose to go that route, the music will be waiting for you when you get back.
