Honestly a good match with the Traynor. Kind of a bass forward amp as is and I find single coils liven it up. I haven’t brought it to a tech though it’s caps and what not are still the originals.
There is definitely a fair amount of experimentation involved. However I do know what kind do intervals and chord qualities I like. For example I almost never use a dominant as that will usually sound too bluesy but I love 9ths and major 7ths. Another trick is voice leading. I like to pay attention the the melody note (often times the top of the chord) and where it’s wanting to move. This can also be done in the bass while keeping the chord static. This composition utilizes both!
I'm not sure I know how to play anything authentically shoegaze. Screamo has been my favorite genre since I was a teen and it's taken me a long time to write and play stuff that resembles it. That said, check out a solo record I released this year, particularly the tracks "Articles of Bombing" and "Marshalls Song." rabidue.bandcamp.com/album/malady-of-a-dying-flame
I'm putting together another release with my band Portia right now. We recorded our set live, one room one take at a friends now defunct coffee shop. It will have this track on there. I guess that's what you can expect next on the channel.
This is gonna cook w a full rock arrangement
i agree! this could be deathspell omega territory
Hey Micki! Yea! We touched on it last practice. The bass makes it very dynamic with contrasting rhythms.
@@garrettdebell can't wait!
Better than I thought it'd be when I randomly clicked on this
Good job, man ^_^
Beautiful playing.
Loving the style. Sort of gives me early 2000s vibes.
Fuggin slow clap
Slow clap and a half

Thanks for continuing to do amazing stuff 🙌🏆💥
haha this one’s like maximum catharsis for me. Thanks so much! I can’t wait until we have it locked down together and recorded.

Screamo???? I’m sensing the influence of saetia, orchid, suis la lune…that sort of stuff!! Great sound
Saetia + Orchid on repeat ♥️ It’s too bad they haven’t made it down this way on any of their tours but I’m still hoping to get the chance!
@@garrettdebell nice!! I´m from brazil and also hoping for a show !!

Thanks! Full track coming soon! I think this was Fuzz War into Plumes.
How do you even pull that strap over your shoulder?
I do the worm
@@garrettdebell Dang dude, that's serious :D
@@ilikepotatoes1345 The running joke is that I somehow get it higher every practice lmao. [:
what is your amp in this video?
It’s a Traynor Yrm-1.
Do you just experiment to find chord shapes?

Any chance we could get some shoegaze vibes in your next videos? Or is that not really your thing?
