    • @Cotyledon
      @Cotyledon День назад

      The Cymbopogon genus comprises approximately fifty species, of which I have only encountered two: Cymbopogon citratus and Cymbopogon nardus. Taste-wise, lemongrass has a zesty, invigorating flavor profile that is similar to lemon and slightly gingery. Among the cymbopogon species, I believe that Cymbopogon citratus has the most lemony, gigerish flavor. Cymbopogon nardus. mostly use for essential oil production. Other species that are utilized in the perfume industry include Citronella Grass (Cymbopogon winterianus Jowitt), which yields citronella oil, and Cymbopogon martini, which is distilled into palmarosa oil. For mosquito repellant, use agarwood or wax formulated with concentrated citronella oil.

      Because the seeds were almost expired, I used the entire package for this video. Normally, for a container this size, I would plant three to five seeds in each of the seven holes, for growing in the garden space 10-15cm (4-6 inches) The voice over version may be found here, ruclips.net/video/I1d1QZMH_qA/видео.html In case you're interested 🌞

    I have 1 bulb which only flowered once with 3 flowers. Are the flowers seasonal??

    • @Cotyledon
      @Cotyledon 7 дней назад

      The flowers on your Barbados Lily are indeed seasonal, and their blooming period is typically shorter compared to other lilies. Barbados Lilies are typically dormant during the summer months and produce flowers in the fall or early winter, usually from October to December. In your case, since your bulb only flowered once with 3 flowers, it's likely that the bulb is done producing flowers for the season. Barbados Lily typically bloom for about 4-6 weeks, and after the blooming period, the bulb goes dormant.

(Perhaps 2 weeks). My temp in Ohio, USA is currently 80F-93F ( 26 to 34 C) I had 2 seeds in a small window greenhouse. They did not germinate. I believe the temp was far too high during the day.(36 to 38C) Thanks for the great info.

    My morning glory only grew lots of vines. No flowers at all . I made the mistake of adding cow manure to the soil when planting. Should I add high phosphorus fertliser or what to do to make if flower? Other conditions like watering and the sun exposure are perfect

    • @Cotyledon
      @Cotyledon 7 дней назад

      A Morning Glory with no flowers despite vigorous growth? Adding cow manure to the soil can indeed disrupt the nutrient balance, leading to an imbalance of phosphorus, which is essential for flowering. Since you've already provided optimal conditions for your Morning Glory (sunny spot and good watering), let's focus on correcting the phosphorus issue. Here are some steps to help your Morning Glory produce more flowers: 1.Stop adding cow manure: As you've already experienced, it seems that the cow manure had an adverse effect. Avoid adding more manure to the soil to prevent further imbalances. 2.Apply a high-phosphorus fertilizer: A balanced fertilizer with high phosphorus content can help promote flowering. You can use a fertilizer specifically formulated for flowering plants or a bloom booster 3.Follow the fertilizer instructions: Make sure to read and follow the instructions on the fertilizer package. Typically, you'll need to apply the fertilizer at a specific rate and interval (e.g., every 1-2-3 weeks). 4.Check your soil pH: Phosphorus availability can be affected by soil ph. If your soil is too acidic or alkaline, it may limit phosphorus uptake. Test your soil pH and adjust it if necessary. Morning Glory prefers a slightly acidic to neutral soil pH (around 6.0-6.8). 5.Provide support: Morning Glories can grow quite vigorous. Provide a trellis or other support structure to help keep the vines upright and encourage upward growth, which can lead to more flowers 6.Monitor for pests and diseases: Keep an eye out for any signs of pests or diseases, such as aphids, whiteflies, or fungal infections, which can also affect flowering. By following these steps, you should be able to encourage your Morning Glory to produce more flowers in the future. Remember to be patient, as it may take some time for the plant to respond to these changes. Keep in mind that Morning Glories are known for their prolific growth and can be quite sensitive to environmental conditions. If you're still having issues, consider consulting with a local nursery or gardening expert for more specific guidance.

    My bougainvillea is in a large pot on my sunny terrace in Athens. The strange thing is - it blooms every year in Jan/Feb/March/April & not in the Summer !

    • @Cotyledon
      @Cotyledon 7 дней назад

      Bougainvillea is a tropical plant that typically thrives in warm, sunny climates Given your observations, there are a few possible reasons why your bougainvillea blooms in January-February-March-April but not in the summer 1.Moisture levels: Bougainvillea prefers well-draining soil and can be sensitive to excessive moisture. In the spring, the soil may be drier due to reduced rainfall or evaporation, which can trigger blooming. In contrast, the summer months may bring more frequent rainfall, causing the soil to become waterlogged, which could hinder blooming. 2.Daylight hours: Bougainvillea responds well to long daylight hours, typically blooming when day lengths are around 12 hours or more. During the spring in Athens, the days are gradually getting longer, providing more sunlight for your bougainvillea to bloom. In contrast, the summer days are shorter due to the solstice, which might reduce blooming. 3.Pruning and growth habits: Bougainvillea is a fast-growing vine that requires regular pruning to maintain its shape and promote blooming. If you're not pruning your bougainvillea regularly, it might focus its energy on producing leaves instead of flowers. Pruning in late winter or early spring can encourage new growth and blooming To encourage your bougainvillea to bloom more throughout the year: Check your soil moisture levels and adjust accordingly. Prune your bougainvillea regularly to maintain its shape and promote blooming. Consider fertilizing your bougainvillea with a balanced fertilizer during the growing season (spring-fall). Keep in mind that bougainvillea is a tropical plant and may still have natural fluctuations in its growth patterns based on seasonal changes. By understanding these factors, you can provide your bougainvillea with the best conditions for optimal blooming throughout the year!
