  • In this video i try to Sacha Inchi (Plukenetia Volubilis) from seed.
Sacha Inchi (Plukenetia Volubilis)is easy plant to grow in containers.
Sacha inchi oil is currently gaining international recognition for its health properties and is thus heavily in demand.
DO NOT CONSUME SACHA INCHI SEEDS AND LEAVES RAW
Roasting can most effectively reduce these phytotoxins, and hence, thermal processing should be applied
before the consumption of Inca peanut seeds and leaves.
Further studies including acute and chronic toxicity in animals may provide additional clarity for
determining a safe intake level of Inca peanut seeds and leaves.
Sacha Inchi seeds and leaves contain appreciable amounts of alkaloids, saponins, and lectins which is TOXIC

Just germinated 3 seeds. All had 3 cotyledons. They were 1 year old at planting. I planted them in a pot with a Theoboma cacao tree, I do not recall how long they took to germinate. (Perhaps 2 weeks). My temp in Ohio, USA is currently 80F-93F ( 26 to 34 C)
I had 2 seeds in a small window greenhouse. They did not germinate. I believe the temp was far too high during the day.(36 to 38C)
    Thanks for the great info.
