That's my machine. Dan was super to work with and did a fantastic job. Thank you!
My winning mechanism doesn’t work anymore and I think there’s balls jammed in one of the opening slot thingys
If you are talking about the tulips and pay pockets, those can be removed from the front of the machine. They are either held on with screws or small nails. By taking them off you can use a magnet to get at the jam. Please check to make sure you have authentic pachinko balls rather than ball bearings. Those will cause jams also.
Thx for quick response I did remove one earlier and got it in original position, the screws are so tiny I lost one. I’ve reached out to you by email as well. My balls are authentic originals
Thank you. My first machine in which I want to attempt to restore was just delivered today
Good luck!
Hi Dan. I just got a pachinko machine at a garage sale with the intent of cleaning it up and making it functional once again. My question to you is, "Is there anywhere that I might buy plastic parts for parts that are broken. I have a Sankyo machine from about 1972and the upper tray was taped onto the machine because the plastic holes on the backside of the part had deteriorated to the point that they would not hold the screws. Any hints of help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time. Ken
Nishijin parts are the easiest ones to find as they made more machines than the other companies. Most of the time you just have to get creative and make something that is functional. Try going to www.pachitalk.com. They have vintage machine forums where you could post a request to see if anybody has a spare.
Can you share what power supply that is?
I use a 12 VDC power supply on all of my restorations. I also swap out the old bulbs and fuse. I buy them in bulk from Amazon.
Good stuff. I just bought my first rough machine to restore. Appreciate the videos.
oooff water and cigarett residue....
Dan, I have to tell you, it’s hard to stop watching this. I appreciate you sharing and explaining this. I’m around 50 and appreciate your work. I’m sure when people stumble upon your work in different locations….even if they never saw one of these before, it grabs them in.
Thank you for the kind words. I enjoy making the videos and am very glad to know the are others out there such as yourself that are also enjoying them!
I was just given a Three Star. I was in my aunts attic for many years and seems to be in good shape. I remember playing it when I was a kid, so I know its at least 30 years old. The electrical has been cut and was wondering what voltage these run off? Thanks for any information
Your machine is probably 50+ years old as most of that type were built in the ‘70s. A 9 V battery will power the lights.
Liked your instructions on how to make crome look better.
Nice review. Don't have the money for you to make mine nice. Yes tried a 9v battery, it got realy hot. Should it be 6v? Subscribed. Mine is not good
If it’s getting hot, you have a short somewhere. I use a 12 VDC power supply on the restorations.
Thanks for the video!
1973 TOYOMARU HARP PACHINKO MACHINE ?? I
nice job! What makes the water marks on the board? It seems they all have it. The best I figure is humdity absorption from being in a basemant. My Sanyo has it but I can live with it, and the chrome frame was rusted. I took off the front chrome frame and used a (wet) brillo pad to remove the rust and then used car wax to protect it. It came out very well.
Many of the machines had the playfields washed with hot soapy water and then rinsed. Although it cleaned the dirt off, it water stained the playfields.
I thought it was a lobster.
Good evening Professor..
And he knows magic! Dan the Magic Pachinko Man you are incredible
Thanks for the kind words!😄
i just got two pachinko machines from my grandma she just passed. i’m trying to get them all working again and this vid helped a ton. do you have any advice on opening the front window ? i can’t seem to get it
On the backside of the machine along the right edge is along metal bracket. There will be a small ring or tab that you can lift up on. This will release the front chrome door.
Hey Dan I just picked up a machine at a yard sale. I need ti get balls for it do you know what size i should get? Thanks!
Shoot me a text @ 585-760-9104. I sell them. $40 per 500. Shipped.
Very cool.
Dan Heiwa is a BIG pachinko company..... They just didnt ship Heiwa machines to the U.S. probaby because Heiwa means = Peace and No More WAR. The Atomic Bomb era..... was a bad deal for japan. It makes sence, for the company that was founded in 1949.
Thanks for the info!
nice machine Dan!
Thank you for this walkthrough. We picked up a 'Chinaman" version and couldn't figure out what we were doing wrong...this was exactly what we needed.
I just came into possession of this same model (1969 conversion) and am learning so much from your videos. Thank you! Mine is in very rough shape so I plan on slowly attempting to restore it to the best of my ability.
Let me know if you need any help.

Hi How many balls do You have. Should have 500+ If you do, call me. Or if not call me anyway and I’ll Sell you some balls! 585-760-9104
I just got one of these but I cannot find the model I have anywhere. The front features a cave rock theme with animals my bottom says wait now

Hey Dan, I have 2 orange wires coming off the switch by the jackpot. They are cut or chewed into. Where do they hook up to?
You will have to give me a call sometime and I’ll explain it to you. Too hard to do via text. I have made a number of videos about working. Check my RUclips channel also.
My grandma had a similar one in storage. I’m trying to restore it back to at least working condition and get it as clean as possible. I started by removing the stuck balls in the machine and taking parts off to clean. Tons of rusty screws snapping on me and a lot of surface rust and dirt. Any tips for cleaning and replacement parts. I’m not aiming for perfection. Just want to get it clean and working.
How can you even tell what year and model it is? I see mine says Nishijin Sophia on the back. I got it open and taking some parts off to clean
@eonr2499 Visit my website and go to the FAQ area. Look for the article on telling the age of your machine.
I always wondered if the pachinko casinos were built on a slant 😂
What 70's manufacturers are still producing machines today?
SANKYO, SANYO, HEIWA, Daiichi, Kyoraku...any other manufacturers still producing.
I honestly don’t know!
My parts arrived the other day I just wanted to stop in and say thank you so much.
Enjoy! Thanks for your business.
Beautiful! I noticed some similarities between this Nishijin and New Gin machines, are they the same company?
I’ve often wondered that myself. Not sure.
Could you use a sand blaster to clean up the rusted parts better?
Maybe, I only have a soda blaster which isn’t as strong. I used a grinder on those parts.
I had to 3D print a feed tray for this version machine, where is a good place to post the files?
And like you said at ~4:19, this machine was a dream to work on, loved that all the mechanics are easily removable ❤
The mechanism lever at 5:36 is for the ball out light!
9:23, my machine I was repairing also had a plastic part fail, although it was the clear plastic part that holds that “jackpot lever” in place Same location tho so it must have a lot of pressure
Send it to: magicdan@aol.com. I’ll eventually post them on my website. Please make sure you identify the email as a 3D printer file,so I know it won’t be spam. Thanks!
@@MagicPachinko awesome, just sent over the file :)
I bought a set of 500 7/16in balls online, 11.11mm… they clogged the machine :/
Hi Dan. I'm a guitar collector and have experience with wood holes and issues. To prevent further damage, have you considered using wood putty to fill and sand over small holes? Using dowels to plug the larger holes?. Super glue works great for filling cracks. Maintaing the integrity of the foundation seems important on a pachinko
These tiny holes are considered desirable by furniture people. I'm not filling them up!
I love seeing what's underneath crusty coating on these frames. Had one that a tiger stripe pattern appeared on.
Yep. Red mahogany is beautiful wood!
Just watched a black and white BBC news reel archive of Japanese in Nagoya back in 1962 going crazy for pachinko. The reporter played a bit and exchanged his 28 balls for a package of biscuits. There was one guy who exchange his 200 balls for a full size bottle of whiskey. I guess the YT algorithm decided I like 1962 news because I saw another BBC news reel archive from 1962 about an island where anthrax was used. Anyhoo, from anthrax to 1962 pachinko players to 1972 pachinko machine! By the way, I guess you must like your workshop to be frigid.🥶🥶🥶
Thanks for the info. I also have a newsreel linked on my website. I work on the machines pretty much every day. I don’t prefer the frigid weather, just put up with it!😆
@@MagicPachinko I thought pachinko was boring (sort of a short upright pinball machine without the fun sounds) and noisy. But your demonstration of it made me think otherwise. (I think seeing the machine in color helps, plus knowing what happens when the ball lands in the tulip and in the center.) The 1962 version had the players hand feed the balls. The reporter mentioned that hand feeding the balls was a skill and that the game wasn't for lazy people. I'll check out your website. 🙂 Keep cool 😁
Thanks Dan. We need your wisdom to keep these machines running. You’re a great presenter.
Thank you. I really enjoy making them!
Is there a reason you make two feet instead of just one larger base? Could a base be made that is maybe 3 inches larger than the base of the machine? Thanks!
Of course. Anything that keeps the machine from tipping is acceptable.
Thank you! Personally, I don't mind the identical opening phrase at the beginning of the video. Many RUclipsrs have catch phrases that they use in the intro, and it gives a sense of familiarity. A few questions: You mentioned that the machine is designed for the house to win, not the player. In other videos, you've mentioned that there are tweaks you make to give your customers the maximum likelihood for a payout/win. Although I do not intend to disassemble my current pachinko or do any more major restoration, I am curious if I can tweak any of the pins/nails to encourage wins. The two lowest slots hardly ever get wins on my machine. Also, I really like your "lazy susan" spinning stand. Can you discuss how you made that, or what product I could buy that is comparable? Thanks for another fun video!
Please call me anytime and I’ll be glad to tell you how to adjust the nails. Sounds like a new video is in order! 585-760-9104
I was gifted a pachinko machine very similar to this one by my mom. It seems it is missing the power cord and is a bit dusty, but otherwise ok. So fun!
I sell power kits for the lights. However, power is not necessary for your machine to function properly.
How do I go about fixing a sticky tulip? When the tulip is in its open position the ball seems to get stuck in the tulip. I’ve had some luck bending out the metal wings in the tulip but still happens sometimes. Very similar daiichi model
You are on the right track. It’s all in bending those tabs. Easier to work on if you remove the tulip from the machine.
another great video
Thanks again!
Nice!
Thanks!
Dan the man... creeping up on 2k.. outstanding
Great! Interesting about the top section on the front.
Glad you liked it!
Just picked this style machine up locally for cheap. It appears to be in working order. Playfield is almost entirely faded out, the crown stickers are missing from the tulips, all color filling paint is missing from the attractions, but everything is there. Most of mine is clear ABS on the back and is cracked in several places. The chrome frame is pretty pitted and not sure it's to going to polish out so considering sandblasting and cerakoting the metal trim pieces a metallic matte silver or possibly a tiffany blue to match the ball tray. It seems like the light bar on mine is different, and there is no wiring for a light behind the jackpot. It appears that mine possibly never had a jackpot light at all, only the side light bar.
Rust on the chrome frame is the worst!
@MagicPachinko I started in with some steel wool and a wire wheel last night and it definitely will not polish out in some spots. Do you know off the top of your head what size the frame screws are? One was stripped and I might go on to replace with stainless.
Pretty sure they are a #6 size with a Phillips head and round head.
Oh my gosh! I played on the double tulip or double whatever they are called as a child in Japan. And yes, it sometimes "disappeared," so there wasn't a payout. I did not realize this was rare. Fun. Great videos! Thank you. I finally got a pachinko machine and my husband and son will restore it.
