Always highly recommend Tyco Mantua steam locomotives

I started with DC trains back in 2012 about five years later I got initiated into DCC I own two DCC steam locomotives and 7 DCC diesel locomotives i’ve been very unimpressedwith DCC sound it’s just noise to me. My favourite locomotives in my collection are the old Tyco Mantua steam locomotives. DCC just hasn’t impressed me.

My general limit on O scale loco purchases is the $300-$400 range. Before I would exceed that, I would probably just get a nice Williams or K-Line model (and maybe have sound upgraded).

I collected a large portion of the Hot wheels railroad back in 2017, and I still have it all 7 years later. Never selling it, they’re too rare now. I have: 2 Freight yard sets, one smaller freight yard set, super rails station, 3 Santa Fe F40s, 3 Chessie system GP 38s, 2 Burlington Northern Class 111 electrics, Rio Grande GP 38, Amtrak F40, 3 Santa Fe cabooses, 2 Conrail flatcars, Burlington Northern tip car, 3 Railbox boxcars, 2 shell tank cars, Amtrak RPO/baggage car, and a Soo line flat car.

I'm thinking "O" gauge too. It has the fun stuff to add to the fun of the train. I'm now looking at Lionel, but open to other manufacturers as well.

Hey, I have a question as I want to get into O gauge and do a dual gauge Ho scale train layout, at 3:06 is that HO scale car riding between the middle rail and outer rail of the O gauge track? If so, the reason I want to know is because in riverside there’s a small amusement park railroad with 2 trains that have different gauges, one is 14in gauge and another is 2ft gauge, for my model I’d like to have dual gauge comparability with the 14in being HO gauge and the 2ft being O gauge

O Gauge is the truly American Hobby Train. S scale or Standard Gauge (1/24 or 1/23) was invented in Germany as was G Scale (1/32). HO came to the USA from England. I believe N scale also came from Europe as did Z scale. T scale is from Asia. O gauge was invented in the USA! I say O gauge because that includes everyone who uses track 1 1/4 inches wide. O scale refers to exact 1/48 on all parts.

S is a funny one isn't it? Theres the obvious American flyer, but Stadtilm, Bub, stromheim etc all made S, even Hornby made a few preproduction prototypes in the fifties, but it never really did catch the publics eye, it bankrupted poor bub who was one of the earliest manufacturers of trains, going further back than märklin.

I would like to get that red Burlington unit. I love Williams electric trains.

For the passenger cars, in addition to the 33" metal wheels, the cars track nicely if you take it apart and add either glue flat metal plates on to the floor and/or fill the pockets in the floor with BB pellets or bird shot and cover them with a layer of waterbased glue. You'll notice an immediate improvement on tracking. Regarding the brake shoes, some modelers simply bend them or break them off to avoid them rubbing on the wheel surface.

Well since we're talking pet peeves, if you can't paint a backdrop at least half as good as Bob Ross, then don't. Nothing ruins more great layouts than a crappy backdrop. A basic blue backdrop is better than looking at a 3rd grade level painting of mountains, trees and clouds.

We need the Hudsons in N scale as well!
