How To Read Fault Code - Triumph Motorcycle
Coming soon. Im going solo camp
Let me know how it goes! Any gear you’re taking that’s in addition to what I have?
I want to do this, but the trident is not the best to pack down. Been thinking about the detachable side bags for it.
@@jings1926 you’d be surprised how much you can pack into side bags and a duffle bag. I used to camp with everything in the duffle.
@ definitely takes some experimenting. First didn’t leave me much room in the saddle. Lol.
For sure. Little shake down rides around town are great.
Weighs 370lbs dry. Wet is closer to 400lbs. But weight is all at the bottom.
This was awhile ago, so I don’t remember where I got the numbers from; most likely the manufacturer website.
Amazing and learning video. Makes me also feel riding and record a new video.
Thanks for watching!
Was it triumph dealer that did the service? If it was general service place did they really update ecu? That update should make engine fan run earlier preventing overheating.. there should be 3 bars in temp gauge after first service instead of 4
And also that update should fix heated grips problem them not getting hot enough..
@86Rommi Yes, it was a dealer that did the service on both bikes. I don’t have heated grips, so I can’t comment on that.
It is an Indian brand now not British.
Yes, you are correct
What is your set up for the quad lock?
I have the stem mount pro with the vibration dampener and wireless charging head. Wired it into the USB port under the seat. Love it!
@@motomaverickusa no issue with fit, I read I few reviews where they mention that stem mount does not work with the trident ?
It does work; I had to loosen the handlebar mount to move the handlebars a bit in order to get it to clear when I inserted it, but no issues otherwise.
sorry bro I can't accept this kind of clutch control.😬
Eh, new bikes take a little adjustment period, but I’m workin on it! I’ve got some adjustable aftermarket levers on my Trident.
Quick shifter and auto blipper? I don't see the issue.
@@msromike123 are you referring to my lack of clutch control? 😂
@@motomaverickusa No man, LOL. I just think for the most part you won't be using the clutch all that much on this bike because of the QS system. If you maintain the cable lubing it a few times a year I bet it will be just fine. They have to make the bike meet the price point and from a weight and cost standpoint a clutch cable makes sense. About to pull the trigger on a Trident just as soon as the '25s drop in a week or two. My dealer has three '24s left and the salesman hinted I might be able to get a better deal once the new year models arrive.
@@msromike123 yea, this Daytona was just a demo, so I don’t even know if it had the QS on it. I know my Trident doesn’t, but it’s on the long list of things I want to do to it. We’ll see how long that takes. Lol
Please post install video
I have the same jacket. Wore it today on 6/30/2024. I bought Marrakesh gear first. But still a bit warm above 90deg. So bought the Induction gear. Used it couple weeks back on a 1800 mi trip from AZ to WY and back.
I have worn several mesh jackets and find this the most comfortable.
Can you turn off the wrench that says service due?
You have to have special software in order to do that; look into TuneECU, I think that is the most widely used one. Otherwise, you have to take it to the dealer and pay to have them reset it, which is annoying.
@@motomaverickusa thank you
I heard triumph service in USA is horrible, people waiting for parts for 3 months and shit. You can't basically do service on your own because even if you change oil you not gonna be able to reset that service blinking icon on the bike. You have to take it to the dealer and they charge you like $100 for that reset and also no first free service and stuff idk if it's true?
This is my 2nd Triumph and I have had zero issues with dealers getting parts. I’ve actually ordered several things myself online; dealer in Cleveland has an extensive online catalog. There is software you can get to reset the light on your own. TuneECU is the most popular one.
Love the round mirrors, do You remember who makes them?
I bought them off of Amazon, made by Fenrir. I did an install video on them, so you can go check that out if you’d like! Here’s the Amazon link: a.co/d/6qTP9BW
Great! Thank You👍
Happy to help!
nice ride thank you
Happy to help. Thanks for watching!
What plugs did you use for the old mirror mount?
a.co/d/2u67GI4
Hey! What camera and microphone do you use to film this??
Thanks for watching! On this video I’m using a GoPro Hero 11 Black Mini on a Chin Mount attached to my helmet. Mic is the trusty ole Purple Panda.
I have Hi-Viz Induction jacket and pants. Above 95deg get yourself an Alpinestars Cooling Vest.
Yes, I agree. I’ve been looking into some “wetting” options, as I hear they make a big difference. Last big trip I did up to Colorado from Texas, I sure could’ve used it! It was nice and cool at 6am in July, but I was baking by mid-day.
Generally the break in oil is thicker than regular oil to let things bed in. After the oil change in the first service to the regular weight oil you'll have less drag on components allowing it to rev a bit quicker and gain a few horsepower.
Makes sense, but I wouldn’t think that oil viscosity would play a huge role in horsepower gains; I’ve done several break-ins, rebuilt some motors, etc. and haven’t noticed it like that before. I guess I was hoping there was some big reflash that tuned the delay out of the motor. Sadly, that didn’t happen.
Nice video, good quality. Like the setup. Thanks for putting this out.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching.
All tests before this one raves about how smooth the engine is...
I think it’s all relative; smooth compared to other parallel twins? Probably. I spend most of my time on triples, which are notoriously smooth.
Funny, the brake squeeks on mine too. Just the rear. Hoping its just temporary during break in
Hopefully; I’d be interested to know a little later down the road if it stops squeaking for you.
Have you noticed any loss of oil on your bikes? I was ready to purchase a Trident until I visited the forms, there were a lot of comments about use of oil. I love the bike, I'll most likely roll the dice.
I read that stuff, too, but I have not noticed any loss of oil; no puddles under the bike and no consumption issues, either. I really love the bike.
Hey, nice video. Think I’ll get these for my trident. Had a question though: the OEM screw from my original bar end cap is stripped. I managed to get it out, but can’t reuse it. Am I able to use the screws that come with the fenrir bar end caps or are they too long?
I think they will be fine; you could always get a bigger bar end cap, if it’s an issue.
Good value for money bike, for the street, not the track!
Agreed!
Ten plastik nie jest wart tej ceny bez urazy wygląda to słabo
Its a 190 or 180 road?
Sorry, don’t understand your question. What are you referring to?
kmph
Ah…. that, I was not paying attention to. Just following traffic. 😬
Thanks for the video, it's really useful! I am going to buy my first bike very soon and I'm torn between Trident and this one. I am going to use it primarily in the city with weekly trips for 40-100 km on highways. What would you pick under these conditions? Will I be able to have a passenger for these trips? I'm 5'10 and 190 lbs
Both bikes will be very fun around town and can do highways well; I’ve enjoyed my Trident for that very purpose. As for carrying a passenger, I can’t speak to that for either motorcycle. My wife has ridden my Tiger 800 with me, though, we were both comfortable and the bike did great. The 660 motors have a little less power, but are also much lighter. I would assume the bike could handle it, as long as your passenger is comfortable on the pillion; there’s not much seat there. I would definitely suggest getting the both of you to sit on it and see how it feels.
@@motomaverickusa thank you very much for the response! The one more thing I'd love to get to know - have you used any windshield on your Trident? I also heard that some people complained about heat waves coming from the motor while riding Trident making it much less comfortable - have you ever experienced that?
I have not noticed much with the heat coming off of it, at least not more than any other bike I’ve ridden. As for the windshield, I bought Trident specifically because it doesn’t have a windshield; I wanted a true naked bike. I still have my Tiger 800, which does have a big windshield on it, and I use that bike for any longer distance trips I’ll be riding. The windshield does make a difference in the comfortability of the ride, especially when the wind and other atmospheric conditions can impact the rider.
Too bad the 660 platform got this awful screen..
Haha, yea I understand they are trying to meet a price point, but they could’ve done a little more. I don’t hate it on the Trident, actually like the minimalistic part of it; however, for something like this Daytona, I think it could be better.
I have a 2008 Tiger 1050, brilliant bike but getting a bit old - its used as a daily and for touring and I have a R7 for a bit of fun - more for full leather suit mountain carving and intermediate level track use. I am considering replacing the Tiger 1050 with the much lighter Tiger 660... But this Daytona could be consideration as well if I can get some decent side bags on it (I am used to sport bike ergos). I wonder if the power tweeks on this Daytona will trickle down to the Tiger and Trident. Thanks for sharing this, enjoyed it.
Thanks for watching; I also have a 2015 Tiger 800 XRx that I have done some longer rides on. I haven’t compared it to the new 660, but I imagine the heavier “adventure” setup, especially when you add panniers/bags, would be noticeable on the smaller motor. I just had a tail bag on my Trident for this trip to Austin but I still had a blast, though. I would like to see the power changes trickle down, but I don’t see them doing that; they are definitely trying to hit a price point with the 660 lineup.
@@motomaverickusa Considering that I did a 2000 mile tour of Scotland on a 2018 Ninja 400, staying at B&B's (so not full camping gear thankfully because early spring storms were the real deal)... So I believe for me power should be more than fine carrying gear/luggage on the 660. I am an pretty average 5ft 9inch height and broad shoulder/stocky/Barrel chested 185 lbs.
@@101BadBreathsounds like an awesome trip! Yea, if you aren’t carrying a ton of gear, I’m sure it would do just fine for you.
I'm suprised to hear you say the vibration is bad. I've heard a bunch of reviews saying it has little vibration for a twin. Sounds like triple is the way to go.
I think the key phrase there is “for a twin”. They added harmonic balancers to smooth it out, so I’m sure it’s way better than other offerings. Comparatively speaking, the triple is smoother, but that motor is known for that. You compare this twin to a single, and I’m sure the twin would be much smoother. I think it all depends on what you’re looking for out of your motor; the twin is going to be torque-focused over top end speed.
I sure which I knew they were doing this test ride event. I'm in Austin and didn't even hear about this.
It was during the MotoGP race at COTA. Lots of brands there offering test rides, I’d say most if not all of them were represented in some capacity.
As a fellow Texan, I like the old brand. Cheers bud.
Me too; just didn’t want to take the chance on any kind of infringements…
Enjoyed the review - I was really looking at the Trident and caught the curiosity for the Daytona. You have now made that curiosity much worse. Thanks. Plan to watch your video on the 2023 Trident and will see where life takes me. Cheers and sub'd.
Don’t sleep on the Trident… it’s a really fun bike to ride, and I’m sure it will open up after some new exhaust and a tune. Stay on the lookout for those vids… thanks for watching and the sub!
I too rode this at COTA and found it to be a lot of fun and very capable.
When I sell the Shadow, I’ll just have some space in the shop… 🧐
You should be in a size Large or Xlarge based on your measurements? You said you settled for a Medium. You said you were 5'7" with a chest size mid 40 and 200 pounds.. I am thinking of buying this jacket and I am 5'8" and also have a 45" chest. and 200 pounds but I dont think I would fit in a medium.. Can you please verify the size you have? Thanks.
Yes, I do have the medium. I have another mesh jacket made by Revit that is also a medium, but it fits much tighter than this one. Klim is a much looser fit; on the Revzilla chart, it does show it to run a bit on the larger side. I find it to be very comfortable for my size.
I have the K Fifty 2 jeans. They are the kevlar lined ones and are really comfortable. I take a size smaller in the waist than I do in a Levis 501. I have blue and black. The black ones do get a bit too warm in heat of summer but the blue ones are ok. I also have a Klim Zephyr wind shirt that I wear under my First Gear mesh jacket when it's a bit chill and a Scott rain jacket for over when its downright cold. I'm looking to replace my current one so nice to hear some feedback on the Klim Latitude. Did you look at the Latitude Pro at all?
Great feedback on the jeans, thank you. I’ve been looking at the K Forty 2 jeans; I think those are the single-layer option. Seems like they would be a little more comfortable and not as hot. Still looking through different options. This jacket is the Induction, which I would highly recommend. I think the Latitude is more their touring/adventure jacket, which includes Goretex. I looked briefly at the Induction Pro, but the added features didn’t justify the additional cost, in my mind. I also like how the regular Induction jacket looks just a little bit more.
@@motomaverickusa I meant to say the Induction Pro not the Latitude Pro. Thanks for catching that and still giving feedback on the Induction difference that you liked.
@@motomaverickusa Ah, mistake on my part. I meant the Induction vs Induction Pro not the Latitude, but it looks like you got what I meant and not what I said ;-)
@@SeaTacDelta no worries! Happy to help.
Issue with any motorcycle jacket is finding one that actually fits. I need a long torso jacket, without having long arms...
Interesting. Have you found the measurement charts on the product pages to be incorrect?
I just logged on to Revzilla and ordered this jacket, based on your review. I hope they send you a big commission check.
Haha, wouldn’t that be nice! Too bad I’m not an affiliate with them. I’m glad I could help, and I hope you enjoy the jacket as much as I do!
been using this in Singapore for over a year now. no regrets. weather these days is about 35deg C. works great with the Klim dri fit long sleeves!
Great to hear! Thank you!
I watched other reviews of this bike and they all said it's butter smooth, and you keep repeating that it's got a lot of vibrations, I'm confused now.
I think it’s all relative; I don’t have a lot of experience with twin motors, but in this video I just hopped off a triple. Triple motors are notorious for being super smooth; if I was on an older twin and hopped on this one, I’m sure the experience would’ve been different. It’s all relative…
It's so smooth it has twin balancer shafts I came off a 22 gsxs 1000 and I find it really smooth
I was thinking the same thing This guy confused me too
I got this as my first bike, and so far i love it. i really don’t have a sense for other bikes, when it comes to power, vibrations, etc. But definitely have to use the quickshifter up and then usually i downshift with the clutch, bc going down its definitely clanky imo. i think the power is really good for what it is. but i would say you should hop on an r7 because its a similar concept to the 8R.
Good info, thank you. Yes, an R7 is definitely on my list to try out, as well as the MT-07. There’s a new Yamaha dealer really close to me, so hopefully I will be able to do both of those soon.
Got a chance to ride this bike at the Daytona 200. Third bike I rode after mf course. Second was ZX14r. First owner bike being 1000cc rr. On this 8r The quick shift definitely takes out using the clutch. Makes it feel weird and glitchy. Also electronics destroy enjoyable ride. Great review per opinion. Motor is def weak
I didn’t get a chance to play around with the different rider modes; if there’s a track mode, I wonder how much that opens things up. I’ll have to look into that a little more. Thanks for watching.
Nice vid & review. It's definitely an exciting bike for a good price. Although, I think I'd be looking in to upgrading the suspension to add some adjustability & firm it up a bit if I was getting one.
I believe the rear mono shock is pre-load only, but I’ve heard even getting that adjusted to your weight can really help out the feel of the bike. If I were going to get one of these to track, I’d definitely hit up the suspension guy at the track day to help me tune what’s there or suggest something to fit me specifically. Anytime people start talking about tracking something, there’s always the “you have to go see the suspension guy that’s there; he’s amazing” or something like that. 😂
@@motomaverickusa Yep, there is always a "life changing" suspension guru hidden away somewhere at any given track lol. I think with the 660, even for road riding, I'd look at a new rear shock & a cartridge kit for the forks too as it has so much unrealised potential imo. It also needs some nice resets but that's all getting pretty expensive.
@@ragerider6283 Exactly; and for someone like me has only so far aspired to go to a track day, that’s a lot to commit to. I feel confident that my Trident will be fine for awhile before I feel like I need something more track-focused.
@@motomaverickusa Yes for sure. I hope they put the new Daytona 660 engine in the next updated versions of the Trident & Tiger as they would be class leaders imo as they're already very good.
@@ragerider6283100%. I am planning on an exhaust and a tune for my Trident; my hope is it gets it at least close to the Daytona, but I know that will be tricky because of the internal changes they made. People I have talked to about tuning the Trident is that it completely wakes up the motor. Fingers crossed…
Buddy infront of you gave me anxiety the whole video with how he was riding. Good vid, likeing this bike the more i see of it
Haha, he’s a newer rider but doing a great job so far. I was joking with him later on how he kept “rev-blocking” me. I really like the bike, too. I would not be surprised if there’s one in my garage at some point down the road. Thanks for watching!
First review I've seen that didn't like the engine (?). I wouldn't expect it to be as smooth as a triple but should pull much stronger from low revs and flatten out above 8000 rpm. It just could be your preference but I'd suggest you try a different bike as your impressions certainly don't match what I've experienced with my 8S. Curious how you had the traction control and ride modes set up?
I didn’t change any settings on the bike, so I imagine everything was “on” and it was in road mode; it was a quick dealer ride at the track and they told us not to mess with any of that stuff. It might have been because I had just immediately gotten off the Daytona, so I couldn’t help but make a comparison, but I was expecting a little more torque in the lower revs. I didn’t really feel the power kick on until around 4k rpm. I’m definitely interested in trying out some additional parallel twin motors to see how they compare. Any specific ones you would suggest?
If you didn't ride it in A mode I suggest you ride it again
@@stephenclarke6114 is that the sport/track mode?
If brands want to start selling these they need to do what Kawasaki does and have a separate sport and supersport lineup. I'm trying to buy my second bike and I'm having a lot of difficulty finding a true 600cc supersport to buy new, it seems like the only real options are the CBR600R and ZX6R. :(
@thadcox5298 Check out the new Triumph Daytona 660; I rode one of those and was super impressed with it. May not fit the “super sport” category completely, but it’s a solid option. Also, I haven’t ridden one, but I’ve heard great things about the Aprilia RS660; I’m hoping to be able to swing a leg over one of those in the near future. Best of luck in your search!
They all still have them. Cbr gsxr what's the problem?
@@alphacapo there's only two options for a modern 600 supersport, the CBR and ZX6R. The GSXR hasn't been updated in 13 years. The R6 was discontinued. The Daytona 675 was discontinued. True supersports are dying and they're being replaced with bikes that sell more to a casual audience but disappoint the people that really love sportbikes. No point in making a sportbike good for commuting, that's not what they're for.
@thadcox5298 what needs updated? U need a tft and a imu? Lol. There hasn't been any big improvements in motors and gearboxes in the last 15 years. Just crap to make a bike work within emissions standards. An upgrade in tires and setting suspension for you is a bigger upgrade than buying a 2008 gsxr vs a 2025
@@alphacapo All sorts of tech/rider aid improvements since 2011. And yes I do like TFTs. I feel like any new $12k bike should have one. I have a 2008 Suzuki and the ABS is terrible- you're better off without it even on the street. Compare that to something like the CBR600RR- electronic steering damper, ride by wire, ride modes, etc.
I own the 660 trident and find that bike to be very enjoyable! I used to only ride sport bikes, but now i love the more laid back seating !
I’ve owned a few bikes and I agree; it’s very enjoyable. I have 3 bikes in my garage right now and I ride the Trident 90% of the time. Love it!
The reason why it’s weird, from second to third is because you can use the quick shifter. Its best to use clutch in first. Second ext use left foot and shift. And you dont have to roll of the throttle. Just click the shifter. Ive had mine since February,2024.
I seem to remember seeing the issue when going from first to second; I would clutch in and roll off, shift, then clutch out and roll on, just like I would on anything else. Even though the throttle was on, there was no power, then it just all the sudden surged forward; it was like the clutch got stuck and then popped. Is that what you’re talking about? I didn’t realize there was a quick shifter as standard on it, so that might be part of the issue. I hadn’t experienced anything like that before. Maybe I’m just misremembering the whole thing. 😂
@antoniovelez9431 I just looked at this again; the first time was 2nd to 3rd, the other two times were 1st to 2nd. So, I honestly have no idea.
Interesting review. With respect I think maybe you're just not used to twins & more specifically parallel twins with 270 degree cranks? It can feel like you're abusing the engine & it's somewhat reluctant but that's because of the big pistons & the inertia etc. You have to embrace the vibes & use the low down & midrange grunt. Twins have a lot of engine breaking & this engine feels more like a V-twin than any other parallel twin I've come across before. It's also a very smooth one for what it is but above 8k it's not worth bothering as no hit in the power band, just more noise & vibes. QS is clunky & not the best but it does loosen up & you need to be firm & positive with it. The Daytona 660 engine is more powerful, more interesting & definitely smoother. However, I wouldn't say it pulls harder at low to mid revs but at higher rpm the 660 really takes off & is miles better. I personally love twins but totally get why you wouldn't if you have a triple as they're very different & can feel agricultural. I personally love the character of twins for road riding & you can just surf the torque with minimal gear box use. Although as you say, no right or wrong, just a matter of taste, preference & opinion.
You’re probably right; since I don’t have much experience with the parallel twins, I did some pulls at various rev ranges to try to figure out where it wanted to be; I found the best acceleration was starting at about 4k RPM up to about 7k. Some of the lower end pulls had a bogged down feeling and just didn’t want to “go”. I feel like the triple motors can pretty much pull anywhere in the rev range, so maybe that’s just what I’m used to. I’m looking forward to riding more parallel twins, as there are a LOT offered by various brands. Hopefully I can learn more about the motor with a larger sample size, but also talk to someone who rides one daily to figure out where it’s happy. I’m enjoying riding different bikes and learning something every ride, so I appreciate your thoughts! Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment.
@@motomaverickusa No worries. You're right about the revs on the 8R, it's sweet spot is between 3-4 & 7-8. There's also a mis-conception with the twins that because they're torquey that they pull well in high gears from low revs, they don't. They labour, clatter, chug & protest due to the big pistons so you want to be in a mid gear for a good pull ideally. I'd say from 30mph - 40mph, 3rd or 4th gear is good so you're not changing up too soon & shifting by 8k. As for triples, I do like them & need to spend more time getting to know them as never owned one. I didn't used to be too interested in them tbh but I've more recently seen the light! The Triumph 765cc & Yamaha 889cc engines are amongst the best out there currently imo.
@@ragerider6283 every motor has its quirks, it’s all about getting to know your machine and how to maximize what you get out of it. The Triumph 765 is an iconic engine; check out some of the track times from Moto2 after Triumph became the sole engine provider for that class, it’s pretty impressive. Of course it’s nothing live the V4’s but that’s something else entirely. 😂
@@motomaverickusa Agreed. The 765 is an absolute peach of an engine. They sound & go so well. It's on my list for a possible next bike when the time comes for sure. I don't need 200bhp rocket ship so it'd be more than enough. I'm also keen to see what else they put that engine in too. Although, performance wise, the 660 is enough for me but ideally I'd like a higher spec chassis with more suspension adjustability & better brakes. Don't really care either way about the dash or electronics tbh.
@@ragerider6283check out the Aprilia 660’s. There’s the Tuono for more of a faired naked feel, and the RS660 for the full on sport bike. I’ve heard great things about both, but you’ll pay a premium. I’m wanting to swing a leg over these bikes soon, but I have to drive a ways to get to an Aprilia dealership.
Price isn’t just under $10k USD. It’s $9,195.
Yes, about 35 seconds in, I put that price up on the screen.
@@motomaverickusa sorry, I missed it.
No worries! Thanks for watching.
