Shooting 1600 ISO Colour Slide Film
Просмотров 1,9 тыс.3 года назад
This is probably the most unique roll of film I've stumbled across so far over the past few years, I've never heard or seen someone shoot with it. 1600 is probably my favourite iso film to shoot film with, so having the opportunity to shoot slide film at the iso is something I couldn't resist. Even if it's 25 years expired. My Website: www.nakedexposurephoto.com/ Follow my Instagram: @vincentja...
The Film Point and Shoot Camera on Steroids | Nikon F80
Просмотров 15 тыс.4 года назад
Some people might find it a sin, but using a modern film SLR as a point and shoot is kind of a perfect tool for capturing super silky negatives. The quality, ease of use and cheap price make it the easiest way to see the full potential of 35mm film. Here I'm going to be talking about the Nikon F80, the most budget friendly autofocus film SLR Nikon ever created. If you've got the $$ the Nikon F1...

Olympus XA vs Contax T - Which is Better?
Просмотров 33 тыс.4 года назад
If you're wanting a pocket rangefinder the only two options you have are the Olympus XA (1979) and the Contax T (1984), they both hold the title for smallest rangefinder on the planet. There's a couple key differences though, one being the price and the other being design. The XA goes with the clamshell design which was designed by Yoshihisa Maitani and remained throughout the XA's designs from...
Capturing a Climate Revolution on 35mm Film

Following on from the craziest year in decades it seemed awful quiet on the climate fighting front, this made me wanna leave the Highlands of Scotland and join my Dad in London for this years only Climate Action noise. Minolta SRT 101 | Before Cameras went Cheap

The Minolta SRT 101 is that camera you'd imagine a member of The Beatles holding while laughing and taking shots of each other in the studio recording and experimenting with new sounds. It has such a stylish 60's feel and look, yet it remains so fresh and timeless. Built from pure engineering and heavy duty metals, this old horse will keep shooting for decades to come and was considered Minolta...
Shooting Government Slide Film through the Olympus XA
Просмотров 2,5 тыс.4 года назад
Slide film is always rated between 50-100 iso nowadays but in the not so distant past 200 and 400 iso positive films were purchasable off the shelf. I've never got to try such a high iso slide film before and couldn't resist giving Retrochrome a go, the history with Film Photography Project made it extra nerdy. Here's the highly unusual and different FPP Retrochrome 400 Positive Slide film Foll...

The early bird catches the worm. I was the last one up with Kodak ColorPlus 200 But seriously this film is better than Kodak likes to market it as, they fooled me for a long time and I don't think I'll be buying Portra again for quite a while. Olympus is Dead

After 84 years of business selling cameras, the beloved Olympus that we know and love is gone. Known for having some of the most passionate inventors that created some of the biggest cult film cameras. In the beginning of my film journey I used the Olympus Trip 35, a true technological feat for being made in 1967, housing a solar cell that both powered and metered the cameras exposures. Things ...
Why I Believe anyone can do Photography (and should)
Просмотров 1674 года назад
I think it's important for everyone to have a form of expressing themselves no matter how small or simple it may seem. Film photography is something that anyone is able to experience, the skill level needed is low and the financial input is very little. But I think in a time that seems so foggy having a view of the world through a camera gives a freshness to your mind and the things you surroun...
Plustek 8100 35mm Film Scanner I Review + Samples

Coming from owning a flatbed already I wondered whether upgrading to a Plustek dedicated 35mm scanner would be worth my time money. Was it worth the switch? I'll be covering my thoughts after spending a good amount of time backing up my negative backlog digitally and seeing what difference it really makes compared to my Epson flatbed. Olympus XA | Review (w/ images)
Просмотров 3,6 тыс.4 года назад
Two years ago I began my transition to shooting mostly film, the only camera I owned was the Canon AE-1 and for the most part it served me well, really well. But I couldn't stop myself from admiring tons of cameras on RUclips, and the one which caught my eye was the XA. I was instantly drawn to its design, size and optics, but being a student and in my early 20's I'd never had the financial cha...
Canon FD 28mm 2.8 | Lens Review
Просмотров 11 тыс.4 года назад
Compared to vintage Nikon F-mount series lenses, the Canon FD are a much more affordable option even though they come from the same era. This is due to a lower build quality and no being natively supported anymore. But optically for the price they offer a great value for money, and owning a few different focal lengths for your film camera is a great idea. Here the 28mm 2.8 FD lens shows it's mu...
Konica Big Mini (A4) | Review

The underdog of the premium point and shoot world. Often overlooked by it's older siblings because of it's more blocky design, but misjudged as being inferior. This is the Konica A4, and it's on par with the likes of the Olympus Mju ii, but eBay and RUclips wouldn't make you think so. This is my long term review after owning the camera for a year. Shooting Dundee on Portra 400 Film | Canon AE-1 | Scotland
I have Plustek, 7400 and 8100. Now I use 8100 to scan hundreds of slides. I like it but each scan takes some time to get a scanned 10 Mb slide under 300 dpi. The output quality of this 8100 is ok provided the slide quality. I use Win11 as an OP system.
I just got the F80 this week and I was looking to buy a 50mm 1.8 G. I came across a few 35mm DX but as these are APS I assumed it would make a lot à vigneting. Can you confirm if it does and how much ? Cheers. Great video btw
Very similar resulta. The fact is that even low key pocket cameras give amazing results, sometimes. I have Chinon Belamy and I am very happy with the results. Totally automatic though. Maybe one of your cameras would be better to control all aspects of taking a shot. Good video!
6:39 THANKS FOR THAT
on xa you waist 2 frames and in t1 3 frames when loaded the film. you could start to shoot on 00 frame in both cameras. and get 39 frames. cant look this video after seen. and cant understand you cosplaying justin bieber or emo poser.
nice video man! what did you use for the video?
Partly why your image isn't appearing sharp is you're scanning above the scanner's effective resolution. You're making a bigger file but capturing no extra detail. When you zoom in 1:1 you're actually zooming further which will give the illusion of a softer image.
Yes
The nails are such an attractive touch
If we speak about the difference, the F100 works with old manual Nikkor glass.
Honestly this scanner looks far better than what I get from the Fujifilm lab in our area. My scans from the lab looks like the photo was printed on canvas cloth.
Have had an SRT 101 new in 1973 and still use it today. It is a tank but also a work of art.
There are many variations of this camera. The Skopar lens is very good, it’s a tessar type, and every bit as good. There are even some with a 5 element Heliar Lens, which was better than the rolleiflex had in the 1930s.
Isn’t the Big mini F the top dog?
the T loads like a Rollei SE. and its kinda annoying lol
Beat camera is the one you have... so there must be a 1000 way tie because i have a lot of cameras
Your voice is amazing. Thank you for interesting video!
I've owned Nikon F80S with Nikkor 28-80 F/3.3-5.6 G AF Lens & Nikon SB 80DX Flash , bought them all in Nov. 2002 all brand new from Henry's Camera Store @ Quiapo Manila.
It was nice lens when I bought it 42 years ago and it still is. I haven't dropped it yet, so I'll save comments about build quality until it happens.
I like them enough I bought 3, but one was a gift to someone. It's great with the battery trip, but a shame they for some reason they left out the vertical shutter release which they had on the grip for the F65
Impossibile to install Plustek drivers. On Windows 10. Sent it back.
Just bought one of these and shot my first roll of Lomography 800 today 🤓 I bought it at my local camera shop and it came in the original box, unopened with air from 89' still in it!
I have to admit that I was somewhat surprised when I saw that they had chosen Portra 400 to compare the XA and T. Is that film suitable for distinguishing small details and fine nuances between the cameras? What would have happened if they had used Ektar 100? (not to mention Adox CMS 20 II...)
I bought a secondhand one in 1996, and I still use it.
I picked up the N75(F75) for just $10 USD in prime condition with the kit lens. Waiting for my first scans but as a rookie to owning a camera, I'm pretty stoked!
Trop de blablabla...
Hey! I was wondering if it's possible to use the flash and the self-timer at the same time. I'm very interested, but I just want to make sure. Thank you.
Hi! I recently got my Konica A4 and encountered the mid roll auto rewind issue. I saw that it's a common bug for this model and was wondering if you ever experienced it. If yes, any recos on how to resolve it? Thank you very much!
What film stock did u use for that gas mask photo?
fujifilm superia 400 😊
My Rollei 35S. Hook the film leader first, advance, fire, advance, place the cassette and then close the back. You will not have any failure to loads.
Of course the CONTAX T is better, with it's Sonnar 38/2.8 lens. It have to be, from the asking price, it's also newer a few years, than the Olympus XA. I have both. Neither the less, both are fine rangefinders.
The one with the sign and with the fence are very nice imo!
Thank you for this. Must say, I could see little difference in the shots. If anything I preferred those from the XA. In terms of printing, when you reckoned those of the Contax , particularly on A3, would reveal themselves as better than the XA..., I would ask..., who would actually want to be printing on A3 from either of these cameras, on a regular enough basis to make buying the Contax T over the XA... a worthwhile purchase ? I've just bought an XA2, waiting for it to arrive. As an aside, had a bit of a moment at 5.00 when your cameras focused on the street sign for South Park Ave and Gibson St. As a student at university in Glasgow 50 years ago, I flat-shared in South Park Ave. No 13, Top Right Flat. The 5 of us had great times playing football in the enormous hallway . Thanks again for video. PS, Like your girlfriend.
nice
For my taste, on the side-by-side demonstration the Silverfast gave a much better colour representation and sharpness compared to NLP. Obviously, you could start tweeking NLP to match that, but, as you stated, it was a test of the 'default/basic' output of both. Why would I want to do the extra processing in NLP just to equal the same 'basic' output of SF? I'd much rather just be getting on with the next scan.
Great video mate. Just new to film and this camera is on my “to buy list”
Contax T is like the illegit love child from Olympus taking the rangefinder, and The Minox draw-door
Under the color tab in NLP you can choose between manufacturers (Kodak, Fuji, Cinestill, etc). It’s a massively powerful tool that many miss
I would be interested to see a comparison between an analogue developed film from back in the day, and a re-scan of the same negative now in digital. Because if modern scanning is inferior, whats the point? And doesnt tuning the scans in the digital realm negate the point of shooting on film in the first place?
Nice review, thank you. This was my last 'modern' film camera and I still have it but haven't used it for a long time. I now use a Olympus OM4 and OM1. The 1 being more mechanical/manual but the 4 always giving me way better exposure since it does OTF metering rather than me having to get it right I guess. I don't claim to be a great photographer! The OTF makes it fun to play with long exposure pinholes too as the 4 can deal with the very long shutter times. The F80 always gave me great shots though. I just dug it out again, after using the old OMs it does feel VERY plasticky. I found the MB-16 grip/battery pack helped there making the camera feel more weighted as well as letting me use AA batteries. Unfortunately it seems to be giving me a lot of 'ERR' messages and is behaving a little erratically like the mirror locking up after shots sometimes. The other thing with it from memory is there is no way to leave the film leader out when rewinding. These days I shoot B&W and develop my own so that could be tricky. Would need to get a retriever. Edit: The old trick of licking the back of an old piece of negative and pushing it into the canister and using it to stick to and pull out the leader worked! Camera still give ERR messages though.
Hey! I have the same camera and grip and get the same messages. 1) try the camera without the grip. 2) clean the contacts inside the grip. I ended up gluing steel wool at the tip of a pencil to get inside the battery grips of my camera that use them 3) try good batteries. I don’t just mean new ones. I mean good like energized lithium etc. For some reasons, several of my Nikons of this era are prone to the ERR messages when they use grips. Never had a problem with Canon grips. Speaking of, I heard that these cameras didn’t come with leader out rewind options is because Canon patented it so it couldn’t come factory with the option.
Just ordered this camera, can’t wait to try it. I owned an mjuii once and I think it’s so overrated, image quality was not that great and focusing was bad, kept back focusing, never buying it again. Also owned 3 XA and they all did on me pretty quickly.
Great camera still, own some very fancy cameras now like a Leica M4 with a Summicron lens and some others but the Konica A4 still impresses me. Recently sold a couple Yashica T5’s and Mju ii, the A4 destroys them in image quality and always nailing focus. Hope you enjoy it, i’m sure you will!
Thanks! Love the SRT family. Had a 100. Now have a 102 and a 201. Amazing rigs.
Great video comparison. I've been using NLP with a Plustek 7400 scanner for the past couple of years and am mostly happy with the results. It's definitely not top-end lab quality but it's good enough for posting online. However, I've often wondered if NLP results would better with a higher-end scanner.
I can tell you, for 35mm, my epson v600 struggles, but is amazing for medium format-enough so that I’ve had some 11x15 inch prints accepted for art exhibits. I’m looking at the Plustek 8300i for possibly my 35mm solution
Using a 2009 DX(APS-C) 35mm F1.8 onto a 36x24mm Size 35mm (36x24mm) FX SLR isn't a great idea, nevermind. It does have vignetting & such. You should've better used a matching 35mm/1.8 or any other 35mm Nikkor lens hereby.
I do the same, and it is a great idea for me, as I had the 35mm 1.8G DX already :D The vignette is mild enough. Probably same story here.
The plustek is outstanding for mono but poses significant challenges with colour.
F80 will not meter with old ais lens, there is no apature pin. Thus you need a external meter.
Great video, inspiring casualness too
really great video on the Nikon f80
could you explain every button assigment on the camera?
Wow, how did you create the picture at the 0:17 time mark? Very ghostly and intriguing! The one at 10:11 is very nice too 👍
