Should we just embrace AI art?
Просмотров 1,7 тыс.11 месяцев назад
With generative AI not only getting better, but also being increasingly adopted, it leaves me with a dilemma as an artist: do we embrace AI and accept the future handed to us, or reject it to preserve our humanity? In this episode, let's dive into the strained relationships between artists and machines and whether we should maybe learn to love our new future. SOURCES: 1: www.reddit.com/r/ChatGP...
I didn't know I wanted a Steam Deck
Просмотров 115 тыс.Год назад
When the Steam Deck came out last year, I didn't even know it came out. I'm a PC games at home guy at least I thought I was. However, after six months, I'm not sure I can go back. Here's a long-term review... sort of. Think of it more as a personal reflection. FURTHER RESOURCES steamdeck.com ruclips.net/video/Th3o9UGPzLk/видео.html TRACK LIST (in order of appearance) 1. Why You Feel So Overwhelmed By The Internet
Просмотров 2,6 тыс.Год назад
In today's digital age, information moves so fast that its rapid nature is basically one with contemporary culture. There is so much content, that even in one entire lifetime you wouldn't be able to consume even half of it. Things move so fast, and are so self-referential that you can barely keep up. Yet, somehow we do. In this episode of sunfish, I try to document the current state of the inte...

I understood the game but not exactly the conflict aspect. (Though I still love the cinema photography aspect 10/10. Christopher Nolan could never reach the epitome of excellence)

AI doesn't really allow for people to express their ideas. And people with strong ideas have discovered this. I've seen a few people who tried ai, thot it was cool at first but then... They stopped using ai and learned to draw, and for many their reason was AI couldn't express their ideas. And this is fundamentally the issue with ai, why it's not art, and why it should not be and never will be accepted. AI isn't expressing anyone's ideas. The entire point to art is to express ideas and experiences. Generative AI cannot do this, and it detracts from and devalues anything it touches. This isn't really comparable to the printing press. Even if u think the writing of the letters is an important part of writing, those letters for the printing press were made by someone, someone designed those letters for it. And the text itself - where the real purpose of writing comes through, was still entirely human made. AI is different, the outputs themselves are not human made except that they're some statistical amalgamation of billions of images that actually were human made. But this amalgamation by a machine completely devoid of human input is an insult to the real work and meaning that went into them. I think in the long run people will see it this way. Think about hand made mugs or clothes - people pay a premium for these. Or counterfeit jewelry, most can't tell the difference, but once they learn it's fake it loses all value to them. Things like clothes are a necessity, so we settle for factory made clothes. Art isn't tho, art is much like jewelry - we don't need it to survive. Most likely ai will be seen the same as counterfeit jewelry, many can't tell, but once they learn it's fake it will lose all value to them. And those using it in their "process" will be rightfully considered hacks.

I'm a production welder. My work recently added 3 new robots that do the job of 6 human welders..... kinda. They don't do everything, but they do more than our older robots and make less mistakes. With these new robots several of the products can be welded entirely with a robot where on our older robots would require a human welder to complete. Don't hear any discussion about whether or not we should be allowing technology to replace human welders. No one talks about it because machines doing things more efficiently and taking over activities that humans had to do is kind of the point of machines and technology in general. For some reason many artists think art is special and should be shielded from this. I don't think so and I wouldn't put money on being able to stop it.

"I don't know, and that bothers me." This was the most powerful statement for me. Yet we don't need answers today. We do need the questions always, like this video. What we CAN do isn't always what we SHOULD do, and in the moment, every moment, we need to be aware of the difference. Well done. Properly conceived, competently executed. Make more. Subscribed.

I got the switch thinking I can take any games I like anywhere. And despite buying several games, the only one I ever play on the Switch is Disco Elysium. I only now realize, I really want to play my Steam games rather than my switch games.

You so perfectly described my exact reasons to want (and to have now bought) a Steam Deck I have a gaming laptop which is in my room and I do a lot of writing and editing work on that and whenever I do actually sit down and play a game I feel this sense of guilt as if I should instead be writing or recording or editing and in the end I just end up doing nothing and going to sleep. I'm so excited for my deck to arrive because I know it'll change the way I game and work. It won't stop me from playing games on my actual laptop but it'll make that distinction much easier, and I need that.

Steam Deck is an absolute nightmare to setup for retro gaming. The most convoluted system and the internet is chock full of absolute vague disinformation. Way too difficult for beginners or non Linux people. You will pull your hair out of your head trying to set it up for retro gaming with emudeck or retroarch.

I finally pulled the trigger and bought a steamdeck that should arrive in a few days because I love pc gaming but being alone in the back room sometimes isn't what I want, now I can play on couch and spend time with my wife and son while one of them watches something on the big TV.

4:58 it’s not actually stupid tho, my cousin could relate to ur case as she also happened to have divorced parents since she was a little girl and she always bring her playstation 2 slim with the carrying bag and also her PSP Go, yes it was a bit hectic sometimes setting it up but i always help 😂 even when she came to my house and she knew i had playstation 2 too she still brought it bcs idk it was kinda fun setting up together but she also can setting it up on her own when others aren’t around and she moves to her dad house or her mom. i also bring my ps 2 anywhere when i know there will be TV when i was a kid 😂 so imho it’s not stupid at all but it’s a bit hectic yes
