Bluebird Overland
США
Добавлен 30 май 2022
Were Julian, Lisa with our two dog Rasta & Mary, were adventurous married couple from Nebraska. We love traveling around the backroads of North America in our Jeep exploring new trails and enjoying natures beauty or hiking incredible trails with our pups. You can also find us occasionally venturing into new towns to enjoy a unique cup of coffee or bite to eat of a local favorite.
We created Bluebird Overland as a way of sharing our travels and inspiring others to get out and see the world and chase their dreams. We are not experts but are very enthusiastic about traveling and living a peaceful lifestyle away from the city. Though our goal is to explore all 50 states, our journeys are more about the experiences we get to share and the friendships we build along the way.
We hope to have you along for the adventure, please like, subscribe and comment. We greatly appreciate all of the support.

We got lost on California’s Lost Coast Trail - Epic Beach Camp
On this week's adventure, we found ourselves along one of California's most rugged coastlines. The Lost Coast Trail and randomly stumbled across an incredible camp beachside with absolutely nobody around us. Pelicans flying around, seals in the harbor, and a rough sea made for an amazing evening at this epic camp.

On this week's adventure, we end up just outside Yakima Washington along the scenic byway of Highway 12. We intended to travel the backroads deep into the mountain range but due to some newly closed roads and private property, we had to revert. However, we found the last standing fire tower that we could explore along the trail overlooking the whole Highway 12 canyon.

We head off to explore Lake Tahoe in Northern California and find ourselves venturing onto the Rubicon Trail via the hiking trail. This random find might be the most peaceful trail on the edge Lake Tahoe you can get away from the crowds of people.

On this week journey we continued making our way north through the Plumas National Forest, however due fire damage I was pushed out or as I call it burnt out as there were no safe options to camp. Are We There Yet

Today we begin our adventure across the country to the far western United States. Overlanding is often show as strictly off-road, but the road to get to the destination is often question by "ARE WE THERE YET" and the answer is often no we're almost there. Campsites didnt go as planned and the trip quickly turned away from the original plan due to snow that happened in the mountains the day prio...

Beautifull amazing
You get a new rig?
Yup, we parked the red Jeep as we’re going to rebuild the suspension on it this winter.
As many places as you go, I am surprised you don't bring me rocks or crystals lol. I know some places you can't take anything from but, hey your brother owns a rock and crystal shop.. lol. Glad it is working for you, keep doing your thing!. Hi Lisa, bout time you got off work to go. Take care. I will share you on the the shop page again!
Hi Jesse! Yeah I hope to go on more, more often!
Lisa’s the rock girl. I wouldn’t even know what to look for.
Beautiful
Thank you
That's how it is in the Olympic NF and surrounding logging territory. The maps are inaccurate. The maps are wrong. Some things are gated and not shown on maps. Some things are shown as gated and they are not. Not surprising that your road ran into a river with a cliff. Some of these roads haven't been maintained since prior to The Nixon administration. One thing we ask carry here is a chain saw. With 100 trillion trillion trees, it's not uncommon for one to fall across the road. Especially in the winter, fall or spring when the winds kick up. You never go on these Forest service roads without a chainsaw. You can run up the road and then a tree falls across it and you can't get out. But of course there 's very little in the way of solution in case a big boulder falls across the road. Just hope your tow strap and your truck can pull it out of the way.
Yeah I bought an electric chainsaw to begin on my next adventures. The whole peninsula is absolutely stunning beautiful there were so many areas that I wanted to explore. Some of the roads were tight and we’re beginning to look overgrown which goes in line with what you’ve said.
I've sat in that same spot in Neah Bay and watched the eagles eat dead fish .. The Cape is one of the most beautiful places in WA
I was just driving along and seen a lot of cars stopped and I about lost it because prior i had never seen a bald eagle so close. There is a little coffee shop just up from that spot. It was so good also.
Another great video. Since i live on the south side of the Olympics, it's great to see some places in the north side to go off roading on. Great work
Great video brother! I tool around in the south part of the Olympics and randomly find camping spots like you do. Luckily I live only 20 minutes from the forest. Can't wait to see the rest of this series!
Love the video. Sadly this area is right on the fire line as of this week and Hwy 12 is closed. Also only way back down to Hwy 12 is along the divide ridge trail then down 4W608A to long lake and rimrock
I seen that this morning also that hwy 12 is closed. So sad that area is absolutely incredible. Hopefully the fire tower gets spared
@@BluebirdOverland I’d recommend using Gaia or OnX for trails to avoid gates
@@DelanoJlove both those platforms. I use both on the trail currently, both have really great features.
When-at-Chee and nat-cheese. Bad ass jeep but there is other ways without hitting gates. LMK if you’re in the area again
Thank you for the correct pronunciation on that. I absolutely plan on coming back to that area to explore some more this winter or come spring time 2025. Would love to know other ways around the gates.
This makes me want to get out of Florida for a few weeks.
Ahhh yeah, vacation time. Is your part of Florida to hot currently?
@@BluebirdOverland oh yeah already in the 90s
Awesome! I camped in that exact spot during the last winter solstice. That's one of my favorite areas.
Which spot? First or second one? They were both very unique fun camp spots.
The second spot Dusk Peak.
What’s the weight on it?
Mine weight in at 428lbs with a lot of extra gear and features added onto it.
Awesome video....just found your channel...absolutely subscribed....
Thank you so much. Blessed to have you and hope you continue to enjoy the videos to come.
Great video! Its still very beautiful up there. It's mostly burned over such a vast area but at least the Djxie fire left a lot of green patches in most of it's path, unlike the smaller but much more destructive fire in the west central part of the Plumas in 21.
Yeah I was very surprised by how much green was starting to come back already also. Very beautiful area. I plan to return sometime in 2025 to explore a little deeper into the area. Lots of very cool little towns headed up into this area also.
@@BluebirdOverland :)👍
Oh man I definitely went the wrong route lol I attempted to do this a couple of weeks ago
The fire-tower is easy to miss because it’s just a turn off from the main trail that’s wider and more ran.
The intense blue water is so beautiful!
Very blue and very cold.
This channel is going to blow up with videos and views like this. Outstanding
Wow. Thank you so much. I have no words to express my gratitude for this comment it means a lot to me. I hope you continue to enjoy the content.
Great views!
Thank you so much. Makes me so happy you enjoyed the video.
Beautiful
Thanks so much, the trail is packed with beauty, and the wildflowers were going crazy.
Fresh snow is great till it starts bringing down trees all around you or covers up old winter snow. Beautiful country, lived north of Bremerton for a few years.
Yup! I totally agree. That was my only worry about getting back out of the area. It was very wet heavy snow!
cool video - I love your enthusiasm. nice quiet paying filler music, slow movements, great eye for cool shots.
Thank you so much! I greatly appreciate the feedback! I’m having so much fun creating and learning.
Meet up with any .?
Logging Trucks?
Nope I didn’t find any logging trucks through out Washington, but did have one night hearing active work being done in Oregon.
I love the search for snow ❄️!
I do as well! This was my first time camping in snow, let alone that much snow! ⛄️ Winter come soon!
I love the beautiful footage and seeing how you play with your beautiful dog in your videos.
Thanks so much. Ole Rasta dog thinks all balls are his. Even snow balls
Loving the scenic views and casual moves 👍 The music could be less-generic tho ;)
Thank you very much and greatly appreciate your feedback. I’ll go deeper on my sound next time.
That's a fun drive. I did it last year in the other direction. Camped right near the top.
That’s awesome. It was a great trail. I’d like to do it again sometime in the other direction. Were the rock slides present when you did it last year?
@@BluebirdOverland They were. I camped at the big site you passed at bout 18:50. One of those wide pullouts right at the top would have been perfect, but they aren't hammock friendly.
@@davepalmer1739 that's funny I thought about staying at that spot after I had passed it. Yeah, not much up there is hammock-friendly until you get down in lower elevations. Even this it was pretty sparse.
Excellent video. Felt connected throughout the whole episode. Nice mix of everything.
Thank you so much for the feedback. Greatly appreciated.
Dude, super jealous. That looks amazing!
It was amazing. Only thing I would have changed, HEAT. Because it was cold. - left the diesel heater home because I didn’t think I’d need it.
@@BluebirdOverland always a fun surprise, 😂
So gorgeous!!
Thank you. It was a winter wonderland
Loved it! Great nature scenes as well
Thank you. Appreciate the feedback. I like to add a good mix to the videos.
Wow!! what a fantastic video. Enjoyed watching the whole video. Thank you for sharing. 👍7
Thanks so much. It was such an amazing time exploring the various coastal areas Washington has to offer.
Is that the Jeep I worked on in Wichita Kansas😁
Sure is. Was so good meeting you and so grateful for your help.
Love this!
Thanks so much, very thrilled you enjoyed it.
Ya, just floor it you can make that jump, that is a small creek lol. another great video bor!
lol, better yet, I could of used some back to the future DeLorean powers at that time. Thanks so much.
Makes me miss Washington state. I lived there for few years in 1997
Maybe Washington is calling you for a family vacation in the near future.
I love the sound of the water
Go explore the Olympic Coast it’s an amazing place
Beautiful video. The views are awesome. I enjoyed watching it. Thanks for sharing. subd & 👍4
Thanks so much. Greatly appreciate the feedback and so happy you enjoyed it.
Passed by your rig at overland expo and saw the RUclips channel sticker!
Thanks so much, PNW Expo has been so much fun meeting new people and seeing so many amazing new products.
I’m loving the mischievous music ❤
It’s fun to incorporate
Crazy dude tug a war!
He’s loves his tugs
Quil-seen…
Is that how it really pronounced? If so I REALLY screwed it up. 😬
Troutlake good to see you.
Thanks so much, trout lake is such a beautiful little area and so peaceful here.
Hi guys, just found you. Will follow you from New Zealand! Happy travels :-)
Thanks so much and welcome. A dream to make it to New Zealand one day just to go hiking (tramping) to see Emerald Lake and maybe find some amazing food also.
Amazing episode man, this looks great!
Thanks so much. It was so nice to find a quiet trail in a busy area then just stumbled into that awesome camp site
Wonderful video Julian!
Thanks, this one was fun.
Keep going I believe in you
Thank you so much that means a lot to me. It’s been fun learning and sharing with everyone.
I SAW YOU IN SEATAC!
Awesome, yup took a couple days for clean up and repairs on the Jeep before heading up in forest along I90 to explore.
