Today's lesson is all about how to talk about your family in Persian/Farsi. I won't teach vocabulary for the immediate family in this lesson, so if this is totally new for you, you can watch the video below for family-related vocabulary:

There is a similar expression in Turkish that has the same meaning. It is “elinden her iş gelir” which literally means "every work comes from his/her hands. After some research, I realized that this expression in Turkish has a twin in Persian. Itʼs: از دستش هر کاری برمی‌آید (Az dastash har kârî barmîâyad) The expressions, words, etc. in Turkish and Persian are very similar. This is because the two civilizations have been in contact for a long time. Therefore, it is easy for someone who knows Turkish to learn Persian.

سلام پانته ا سلام - سول زبون یادگیری | hello - language learning question Hello Pontia! I love your blog, especially your pages about the idioms are wonderful for helping me to learn and understand! It really makes the learning very fun to scroll your blog, learning idioms and stories. If I may be so bold as to ask - do you know of any farsi movies with subtitles in farsi, preferably light-hearted or kind of cozy? But anything with a happy ending is good. To be clear, I am willing to consider "lovers die together / for each other / knowing they love each other" to be a happy ending. Of course, that's just a romantic example! I am perfectly fine with no romance. I just want something that's not too graphic / gory (or where I can avoid those parts), and not too dark. I'd like to ask you instead of my Iranian friend, because if I ask my Iranian friend, I think what I want might not be understood very well! But you know America, so you probably have a good idea what I mean, even if my definition of happy is happy to include a lot of things that don't fit the American definition, lol. Basically, I'd like conversation in persian, with persian subtitles. I understand farsi best with both spoken and subtitles together. And it's easiest for me to learn a lot of things if I can listen to conversation, not just learning videos. I understand and remember words and phrases better that way. I hope I have not been too long-winded! I love your blog, most of all for your explanations of persian expressions! That helps me to learn words, too, and it makes it fun! I wish there were more blogs like yours on the internet. I love the stories you illustrate expressions with, and the way you write the persian characters on the pictures, but we can read it in the english so I can at least guess what the vowels would be. I love scrolling your blog for the bits of persian, it really helps me absorb words so I recognize them later when I hear them in videos! Anyway, I hope I haven't been too long! I will express my thanks, and please consider my thanks expressed, before I spend pages going into detail everything I liked, which is what I will do if I don't wrap this up. خیلی ممونو I'd try to be more eloquent, but I cannot spell in persian yet. Thank you, thank you very much, -Sky
