INSTALLING VLAND HEADLIGHTS ON MY FRS/ BRZ/ 86
Hi guys welcome back to the channel!
In today's video my dad and I installed the after-market VLAND headlights on my 2015 Scion FRS. The install took pretty long to complete because we had trouble figuring out how to properly wire the day-time running light. Wiring the DRL is different for the left and right headlights which was very odd.
VLAND HEADLIGHTS FUNCTIONS:
Auto (Daylight) = DRL ON, Projector Beam OFF.
Auto (Night) = DRL OFF, Projector Beam ON.
Auto (High Beams) = DRL ON, Projector Beam ON.

@@jonathonclaro yo bro the video helped a lot! Thanks bro. Putting the pins in at an angle was a great tip, if not that process would have been awful. One thing I would suggest idk if you mentioned it but that hook inside of the case, I removed it by just twisting it off. Thought the jersey looked weird with the hook that’s intended for a hanger not being used since we have it held up by pins

@@jonathonclaroI just did it to mine yesterday! Got a free K&N intake and the turbo is loud ! Turned a lot of car guys heads last night :P Thanks for the fast response ^.^

@@jonathonclaro about three weeks ago, I constantly complained to my mechanic how no one believed my car was turbo charged. He said that I needed a new intake to emphasize the sound; while I was with him that day, he gave me a free water pump because he has another customer who has the same exact Chevy that I have. Two weeks ago, he messaged me : “ I have an air intake for you “ - it was his other client - his other client had recently bought a Chevy Cruz two and he took it somewhere else and they told him to get a new air intake. He does a lot of deliveries and he’s not into cars at all like we are, so he said the part was not necessary for him. He wanted the original stock part. Thankfully, that’s what I had and my mechanic put us in touch and he swapped the intakes for us.!!

Hey everyone, an important FYI! Approximately a month ago, I installed these headlights but I've encountered some issues since then, primarily involving blown fuses. My FRS just recently emitted a slight smoke inside, accompanied by a burning smell, indicating a possible wire issue. Upon inspecting the interior fuse box, I found no signs of burning or melting. While my taillights are operational, my headlights, daytime running lights, blinkers, and hazards are not functioning. Additionally, the blue high beam symbol remains illuminated constantly, even with the key is removed. Despite attempting to toggle the headlights off and back to "auto," and vice versa, the issue persists, suggesting a potential problem with the blinker switch/arm or the wiring leading up to it. I’m thinking it might have to do with the current output of the LEDs. It seems they draw a lot of power from my battery so I’m wondering if the D2H HIDs with the ballasts are the better option. I really love the look of these headlights, and it pains me to witness my car malfunction unexpectedly due to this modification. I've disconnected the battery to prevent further damage or burning. Currently trying to figure out how to fix the issue.

@@bullpupart The car is fixed for now I guess. Hoping it doesn’t happen again but it turns out the wire harness running from my passenger side turn signal (the one I had to tap into for installing the VLANDS) was completely fried/melted. Wires were touching which messed up everything and I had to cut out all the burned wires (all the way back to the fuse box) and replace with new wire. One weird issue still remains though. My amber coloured passenger side bulb only works when I turn on my blinker and doesn’t stay on as a DRL. Ended up leaving it alone so it will only come on when I use my turn signal now. Driver side worked for both the DRL and turn signal but ended up disconnecting the DRL wire to match the passenger side. Now my only DRLs are from the VLAND headlights which I don’t mind (no more orange lol).

What did you do with the small intake hose that ran into the stock intake hose ? Cant find what it is so I just put a tiny crankcase air filter on it ? Any advice
I’m bias I liked the original color burgundy/maroon is my favorite but that nardo gray is dope

Yes a little. I just pushed on them to lay them flat.
Just bought the same shadow box today at Michael's original price $109.00 and had a 50% off coupon. I would recommend using fabric tape not double sided tape.

I want to where did yuu get the weather strip or guard?
For anyone thinking about doing this, I just put this one on my 2012 Cruze LTZ RS. The check engine light will come on for a day or so and give a system too lean code. Once you drive it a few times, the computer will learn to compensate the fuel for more air flow. The check engine light should go off on its own once the computer sorts out the new air/fuel ratio.
Interesting because mine never came on when installing. Glad the computer figured it out on its own though! Enjoy :)

Thanks for the video! Super helpful! I ended up having crappy thin double sided tape too, and ended up using some gorilla stuff I had laying around. The foam board in between I didn’t know was a thing so that is super helpful! Cheers!

I’m not sure. It depends on the size of the jersey as well. When I bought mine I was told to go to with the biggest.

What size are your wheels
Tire size is 225/45/R18. As for the rims I am not sure but I did see some measurements on the inside of one of the spokes and it says 5 X 14.3. Offset is +35. Hope that helps!

Ok I just bought one of these frames and I don’t trust those mounting screws and brackets seems like a lot of weight for those two screws to hold this …. What did you use to hang it ? Thanks I’m advance great video !

9 months later - did you manage to hang this ? Just picked it up from Michaels today and boy is this thing hefty. Will definitely need a good hook and anchor setup.

With that new set of rims ur drive looks so sick! I'm also about to have my regular 16-inch silver ones changed to 18's Rial Kibo Black and nvm that my mechanic tried to convince me that wouldn't be a good idea :) I just know they'll perfectly match my silver blue Cruze, too.
