A Scottish Bothy from above - On the mighty Cape Wrath Trail
#capewrathtrail #wildcampingscotland #hiking #scotland
Hello All
A different video here so let me know what you think and if you want to see more like this.
So i hiked in with a few people on from Loch Arkaig all the way to Sourlies Bothy through Glen Dessarry passing through magnificent mountains, feeling very small indeed to the surrounding rock formations.
Sourlies is a fantastic bothy, well worth a hike in for a couple of days, we had beautiful weather and some great footage of this area.
Its part of the Cape Wrath Trail so well worth a look if you are planning this adventure to get a little knowledge.

I’ve watched so many videos of people on the Cape Wrath I feel like I know this Bothy as much as I do my own home! 🤣 Wonderful drone footage, what a wild and rugged area it is. On day, not before long I WILL get there. And I’d the Bothy is full there is plenty of good camping spots outside by the looks of it. All the best mate Dave 😀🥾⛰🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏕️

I am going through what seems like a long season in my life of stress & frustration, wanting to see specific situations change for the better, and I've been going out for long walks with the dog to clear my head. You will find the dog great company on the camping trips. Steve 👍

Thank you for the video - beautiful location - I have subscribed. I'm from the Paisley area, looking for a spot to do another wild camp. I've done 1 solo wild camp back in 2019 in Clyde Muirshiel Country Park away up in the hills behind Lochwinnoch, hoping to do another 1 before the end of Autumn but somewhere different. I take it that you are not allowed to drive your car up the forest roads? I notice you didn't put any butter on your rolls, my goodness that would be too dry for me.

    • @Campingonthewildsidescotland
      @Campingonthewildsidescotland Месяц назад

Thanks for the comment, glad you like the video and hope you find it useful. The Galloway forest park is pretty good for forest roads and have many forest car parks and you can just walk from the car in the the hills, woodlands and forests which are really good down that way. even up to Glencoe or down Glen Etive you can park your car at the side of the road and cap, in saying that not sure what the locals are doing as they have so many people leaving rubbish and partying in that area so probably worth finding somewhere better. I don't carry any butter etc when away wild camping i try just take the necessary things, i am used to cutting back in the luxury items and foods. Hope you manage to get out into the great outdoors and find a spot. Cheers for subscribing. Steve 👍

Enjoying the videos Steve. That thunder storm on your second day was quite epic. I was up on Bealach Bhernais on my TGOC as it started and managed to get out of the worst of it. It's heavy afternoon rain that's the reason I opt for a fly first pitch tent for TGO's, I can just throw it up and dive underneath until the worst has past. Most things stay dry then.

Hi mate, another couple of lovely days. The red bothy looked amazing, they have done a grand on decking that out. I did chuckle when you said everyone has said they are ‘stinking’ 🤣 When I was on the Cumbria Way I was the same and you get so conscious when you’re up close to people because you know you hum as you can smell it yourself! 🤣🤣 All the best Dave

couldn't of been worse than the local drunk i saw, who stank of piss because he was so drunk that he couldn't get up. So he kept wetting himself!

Cheers Dave, it was a nice place indeed and a fantastic job with the history preserved. Just for the record i didn't go round smelling folk haha but i could definitely smell myself due to all the sweat and long hot days so i was pretty glad of a shower lol. Its probably something we dismiss is being out in the sun with no shade etc so could have been a different story for someone else with less knowledge of medical issues. The Cumbria way looks great to do. Steve 👍

another great video! you are a better man than me steve, that looked so hard and you didn't look right. Was it the earth company lemon and ginger tea you had? I tried them recently and they are so nice!

Thanks for the comment, i actually think it was just a standard Lemon and ginger tea bag for a supermarket, i think its better thank coffee and tea they make you sluggish and the lemon and ginger one seems to enhance more things and better for you i guess. Most days were tough going due to the terrain and the weather so a little perk up was always needed. Steve 👍

Hi Steve. Another couple of beautiful days on the trail. The weather has been so kind to you again, a little warm maybe but it’s certainly better than rain. Plenty of wildlife on this one from Eagles to Ptarmigan to snakes, and not to mention the dragon fly. All the best mate, keep it going. Dave 😀⛰🥾🏕️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Our Camping On The Wild Side mugs safely arrived in Canada. Our daughters each gave one to their dad for Father's Day so now he has a set 😊 We have a few trips planned this year and although we will not be in tents we will be outdoors most of the time. The mugs will be coming with us and I'll post some photos of them for you.

Aww bless you Tiana thats really nice to hear, hope they will make there Dad a cup of tea on his holidays haha. Did your process of getting the mugs go smooth i hope as this is just a new thing you pointed out a while back. Loving the Blue star badge you have, awesome you get some privileges. Still getting to grips and see how things go with all this so again thank you. Steve 👍

The mugs came quickly and arrived safe and sound! It went really well. Thanks so much! The blue star badge is fun for sure. We have wanted to come to Scotland for a long time, and with raising kids there just hasn't been a chance for overseas travel. So we really enjoy your content. ❤ Your mugs are coming to the coast of Maine, USA in a few weeks 😊

@@TianaBaker-ej3fl thanks fantastic glad you got them sorted ok. Its always a pain when shipping things due to the time. I am sure when the time is right you will get across to Scotland and when you do make a good list of what you want to see. If you ever see anything online let me know and i can go and do a wild camp for you and give you a bit more visual on things with a video. Steve 👍

Cheers Dave, been very lucky with the weather, maybe to lucky its pretty hard going in the blazing sun lol. The rain was well needed and yeah perfect timing. Its a nice feeling being in the bothy while its pouring something quite satisfying about that. The scenery and views are taking me by surprise to. Places i have not been to and just amazing. More videos out soon. Steve 👍
