    I’m trying to figure out what I want to do before going to college and travel nurse was one of my options and out of all of the videos I have watched this is the best one so far because it gets to the point and it’s transparent. I think I’ll be going into this field.

    Hi, I was wondering when you prepare the medications for the patient do you check the mars like when you are an rn ? Is there someone else that checks the medication to like reduce making an error?

    • @SRNAPaul
      @SRNAPaul 7 дней назад

      Hi, we have to do the checks ourselves. Verify correct patient, drug, dose etc. I usually triple check my med before drawing them up and giving them to the patient. But no, there isn’t another person that checks so anesthesia providers have to be extra vigilant with medication administration.

    This is incredible for everyone who goes and trust their lives with nurses. They are literally train trained in that specific job sector to handle medication and administer them. If they are able to perform those duties 100% of the time then they will criminal charges. lucky she didn’t get prison time

    • @SRNAPaul
      @SRNAPaul 7 дней назад

      It depends per anesthesia group & state. CRNAs can practice independently in 27 states meaning they do not need a physician to practice. Where I have my clinicals, MDs only come in for when the patient is going to sleep. The rest of the time, it’s just the CRNA in the room taking care of the patient.

    I used to hear about AMN being a nightmare for travel nurses just due to the compensation where I heard some nurses wouldn't get paid for a month(s), but that was a few years ago pre Covid. I'm not sure if it changed. The compact licenses work for 30 plus states but I've heard some states like Massachusetts and California nursing licenses were a pain in the ass to get. As a travel nurse make sure you turn in a paper copy of your hours to see if they match up to the Kronos hours from the hospital. Best thing about travel nursing is getting a weekly paycheck versus waiting two weeks to get a paycheck. Thank you about AYA Healthcare.

    How do you negotiate a contract when venturing into contract nursing? My recruiter is friendly but pushy to accept a particular contract. After I’ve read the binding contract it essentially states that the agency and the company, that I would be working for, are covering their butts. And a nurse can be thrown under the bus and deal with any consequences on their own without any support from the agency or the family they would be working for. Sounds sketchy.

    Does your program mostly test on random things from your textbooks that were never discussed in lecture? I’m in my second semester, I just had my first exam, and the PowerPoints/ lectures were not that helpful. They basically expect us to memorize the textbooks for exams. I’ve been a 4.0 student since undergrad, but now I’m struggling to figure out how to study/learn everything from the textbooks to do well on my exams, especially with the limited time I have to study. I don’t learn well from just reading textbooks, and at this point I’m practically teaching myself everything from the textbook :(. What do you recommend?

    • @SRNAPaul
      @SRNAPaul Месяц назад

      Hi friend! We've had different professors for our classes who all made exam questions their own way. I had to tweak my study techniques depending on that professor. It really is frustrating and I've had to read the textbooks thoroughly for some classes in order to do well in them. I've heard people use a test summarizer such as PopAi for text, although I've never used it so I can't say how well it works. What worked for me the best was the combo of making my own summarized study guide on a word/google doc & making questions. I blended the lectures and textbook info combined with apex to really learn the concepts. It's time-consuming but it's gotten me the best outcomes. I wish you best of luck and I know you will get through didactics♥

      @@SRNAPaul thank you. I’ll try your suggestions🙏. This class has two professors and my second professor tests more on our understanding concepts and clinical application, so I was able to get A+ in my 2nd and 3rd exams. Just prepping for finals now, which is cumulative🤞.

    • @sadesade111
      @sadesade111 18 дней назад

      @@walterclements2877some professors take random one liners from the textbook. Often it’s stuff that students might not focus on as much because it doesn’t seem as important, but that’s the sort of thing that will be on the exam. The most random, unimportant fact from a tiny image/chart/paragraph on one of the hundreds of pages of assigned readings. Thankfully not every professor tests in this manner.

    You are living my dream! I’m so jealous & happy for you. I’m an LPN and will be an RN by next Dec. I have been very fascinated in anesthesia and aspire to become a CRNA. The only problem is my fiancé & I have had the baby fever for a while and want to start a family within the next couple of years. We are 25. I always said I want to be 100% done with school before having kids. If I pursue this career, I’ll be done with school when I’m 30-31 and would have to wait to start a family until that age. I know that’s not old to have kids but we wanted them in the nearer future. Ugh do you have any advice about pursuing a career or a family? 🫤 I have also seen CAAs, which is a 2 year program and heard they make about the same amount of money as CRNAs do but for a year less of school (& debt). That may be better for me if I want to have kids a little sooner. Do you have any opinions on CAAs? Thank you for any advice 💜💜

    • @SRNAPaul
      @SRNAPaul Месяц назад

      Hi Brooke, thank you so much! Your concerns are very valid and CAA is an option. I have seen all types of students (single moms, parents, divorced during the program, having kids IN the program, single, married, waiting to have kids) so it's hard to give advice bc everyone's situation is very unique! I would say that you need all the support that you can get throughout any anesthesia program. Less stressors you have, the better. As far as CAAs, it is a very controversial topic in the anesthesia world. There are pros and cons to being a CAA. The length of the program is the biggest pro but you will be limited to the states that you can practice in. CAAs also work under anesthesiologists, meanwhile CRNAs can practice in more states and independently in certain states. There are many factors to consider! I hope that helps and all I can say is that the job is amazing and the schooling is worth it ♥

    Is travel nursing still marketable in 2024? I'm deciding whether to choose between mechanical engineering and travel nursing as I'm interested in both science - physics, chem, bio- and maths. Money gonna be my decision factor then XD. According to your experiences who gets more paid, engineering or nursing??

    • @SRNAPaul
      @SRNAPaul 3 месяца назад

      I can’t speak for how the mechanical engineering job market & salary is but travel nursing can be volatile. You have to do your own research for the best agencies & travel contracts to get the best pay/offer. The job itself is vastly different from mechanical engineering. So you really have to weigh what type of work life you want and if you are willing to travel every few months and have that uncertainty with your next contract. Some seasons the contracts have lower pay and kicks back up again. I hope that helps🫶🏼

    Cheers to all the CRNAs doing a job that I can never do, I’m a nurse in the OR, and we joke that it’s always anesthesia’s fault but you guys are really vital to a good surgical outcome.

      That is always the joke in the OR 😂 an OR team that works well together & puts patients’ safety & well-being first is a must! We can’t do our jobs without each other 🫶🏼

    Literally my dream job… this lifestyle is very ideal imo. Staying busy, keeping your mind sharp, helping people daily. Systematic and always the same but also different if that makes sense. I hope to be in this position some day. God bless you for all your hard work dear!!!!

    Can you please share how you make questions from notes to quiz yourself ? Does notion app draw questions from your notes? Or you actually have to write down questions on the paper?

      I will make a video on how I use notion! No, it doesn’t draw up questions. I make my own based on the lecture. I’ve heard that chatgpt is able to generate questions if you plug in your lecture but the answers may not always be accurate
