AI Makes Goombas (And other Mario Characters)
Blender is certainly a good tool to have on your belt. But have you tried Picocad or Blockbench? I'd say they're a bit easier for keeping things fairly simple. There's a tool on Itchio called Union Bytes Painter that has some neat functionality for texture painting too, granted you're not using textures at a higher resolution than 512x512. I think the program is heavily underrated, sadly.
Dude! Rabble Rouser is going to be awesome! Cant wait to watch the development process. Miss ya and love ya buddy. Stay safe out there
my man
<3
Fun video, kept things light/fast/entertaining. Didn't get too bogged down in the technical. Liked it 🙏
Your new game idea isn't just something that happens in the movies, but also a lot of the star wars games. Might be a good reference. I'd suggest looking up "X-wing Alliance 2 death star tunnel speedrun" to find some videos showing it off.
Super excited!
The famous "check all the obscure boxes haha you missed one and everything is broken" part of the journey. 😂 Talk about trial by fire for a solo learner. If you survive that you will be able to conquer anything.
Haha I appreciate that, thanks!
Great work, keep it up!
Thank you!!!
I'm an animator. I worked at Pixar as an intern and I worked at Deck Nine Games as a junior animator.
That’s so cool! So you can tell me if I have too many polygons 😅
Bad at 3D math abd decides to make a flying gane which is a bunch of 3d math.. well thats one way to learn haha
Lol it took me a few days to get the basic movement working
I had to hit subscribe at "this is not a happy creature"
The poor pigeon 😢
Your new game really reminds me of Rayman 3's Missile Command mini-game Love that !
Oh I don’t know that one! I gotta go check it out!
>3d game dev is hard >chooses the most unusable and dogshit "3d" engine out there did you tried using a real game engine? unity or even rpg maker with mv3d?
rpgmaker......
Yo, can you please send me the files for that pigeon model, I really like it and I wanna use it for a small game I’m working on.
Lol yeah dude of course! Send me an email! SuperSketchyGames@gmail.com
My workflow, model, UV map, rig, substance painter, animate, into the engine
I’ve seen some people do the animating in the game engine, any thoughts on that?
@@SuperSketchyGames wouldnt recommend it, maya is incredibly powerful. I probably wouldnt get into 3D game development until you have around a year of solid practise working in 3D (modeling, animating, rigging, UV, texturing)
I weep at the missed opportunity in this game. You have the title, you have the title screen, but the gameplay is not there. If I'd look at the gameplay alone it might as well be "moto person". Why are there no enemies to crush? why is your knight not having a weapon? Why isn't there a tower to climb? and princess to rescue? This was this '-' close to greatness.
underrated channel
Haha thanks
start with 2d games.
Good advice 😤
That's why I don't do 3d, too many sweats
🤣
Oh, and keep up the good work.
Don't worry Casablanca is an "ok" movie and if you've never seen it or haven't seen it in ages, you're not missing much. But what do I know, I'm not a film major, just a guy who thinks the movies he watches be entertaining in some way.
Haha, thanks for the insight
i thought you were dani 😭
Fr lol thumbnail had me tripping
Lol
That probably accounts for 90% of my success
I'm glad he isn't dani. I like this guy
Welcome to creative endeavor. I've been writing for nearly a decade now. I've written hundreds of thousands of words. I've read books, I've practiced, I've written the same scene over and over, tweaking small things, writing it using different points of view or different styles; I've written shorts based solely on the figures of rhetoric, I've completed two full novels and one novella, I've outlined, I've written extemporaneously and more. What have I learned? Well, on year 7 I discovered that contrivance is reality and plot is important. Yeah, that's right. Half a decade and I _just figured out_ that my scenes should, y'know, have a point. I've discovered that you shouldn't practice one style for a year, then for your novel use a totally different style you've never practiced. I've learned that you probably should start a full novel, but you probably shouldn't get attached to it if it's your first or second, because you don't know jack about writing yet and the result is not going to be the masterpiece you imagine it to be. (Unless you're one of the several thousand writers throughout history who somehow slam-dunked on their first novel, not sure how they did that.) I've discovered that every time you get good at something, there's a small tweak you could make to it that would totally destroy all ability you thought you had. No matter how much you learn there's always ten other things you could name right now that you suck at still. I've learned, or at least theorized, that there are "tiers" to quality, and each time you think you're good, you hit a new tier and realize that you really aren't all that good yet. Mission: Impossible III is a fantastic action movie in my opinion, but then you watch, say, Tenet, and realize how much more visual storytelling you can do than you realize. I think the Whole Nine Yards is an excellent crime comedy (?) but then I watch the Death of Stalin and realize that you can be even more clever, and you can weave even more emotional depth and quality acting into your story. Then I realize that all my examples for writing are movies. Do I do this because I don't read enough, or because I know other people almost certainly haven't read what I've read? Anyway, quality creative work is difficult, that's the fact of the matter.

The motorcycle game was really cool, excited for your new projects
Thank you!!!
But oh my Kami, Sketchy, this video is the most hilarious one yet and also very inspiring. 3 months on Blender.... I could never 😅
Looks epic! Kudos to learning a new set of skills, I've been dabbling with game development myself to create a music-learning app for kids. Takes a lot of time to learn the basics but super satisfying when it all clicks. Can't wait to see your next vid diving more into your new game! 🤟
Oh that’s sick! I didn’t know you were working on that kind of stuff! You gotta send me stuff as you make it, I want to see
3:46 MAN. Video game story script time for me when?
1:43 *laughs nervously, looking at how I had randomly looked up physics concepts just some time ago and gotten inspired by them* But man, don't sweat it, I don't remember stuff for the most part.
If you put out the 3D game next year at this rate of y = x/2 + 1, you'll put out a 4D game in 2027 #SG2027
Me just an hour ago; It feels like Sketchy only pops up once every 3 months or something Sketchy; *posts* Me; 😮
2d rocket league is an actual phone game which is called sideswipe
❤💪
👍👍👍
5:25 Niche? Isn't Angry Birds as mainstream as it gets?
What game engine do you use ?
Godot! I picked it because it’s free and the sctilting language it uses is basically Python, lol
@@SuperSketchyGames thanks. I'm using Gamemaker cause I like javascript and it's also free 🙂 I wish you good luck
The next game should be a remake of one of your old games
1:09 Wow! Your third game ever and your art already looks so good! After 2 years in game dev my art still looks like a 2 year old drawing lol, do you have a background in art?
Lol yeah, drawing used to be a hobby of mine, and I also spent some time as a graphic designer. It’s crazy how many skills are required to make a video game!
the tennis one looks so clean
Rabble rousers one looks sooooo cool please please please do something with it!
A toast playing tennis against the devil is probable peak lore in gaming
Pick up the can, literally a gold nugget. Most devs would kill for that. Would pay 20 bucks on steam for it
SO MANY cool ideas!!!!
This was really cool and imaginative, man. I can't believe it doesn't have more views.
Game number 8 looks really good! ... I understand your reason for quitting, but you really should have pushed it further.
duuuude, do the sherlock game! it's a pure gold idea!
So, "Angry Birds" is too much of a risk to invest in, because you don't really know if anyone would want to play it. Ok
Rocket League mobile is actually fun and that's 2D rocket League
8:34 please release the toast pleeeaaaaseee
4:24 your version of the game... what? i don't hear it clearly and can someone tell me what is the name of the game?
Luftrausers! Sorry I didn’t put it on screen!
