    I was going to subscribe because I've always been a huge fan of Tim Howards, but I won't subscribe here after seeing Tim's public criticism of Pulisic. Pulisic is the undisputed best USMNT player and deserves more respect than a public rebuke from a USMNT alum. Maybe Tim thinks it serves as a message to USMNT players at large and served a purpose, I don't know. I don't know Tim's mind, and Tim doesn't know Pulisic's mind, but apparently, he does and felt it necessary to publicly rebuke Pulisic.

    Bro TF Landon smoking.... Doesnt matter what league you play, if you're injury prone and got glass legs you gonna be out no matter what. This is why US is laughing stock in world football

    Definitely do an episode on how Landon & Tim would fix the youth development in the USA And.... Is Soccer becoming a major sport in highscools & middle schools? .... Are kids starting to move away from baseball, basketball, American football etc...... Surely this is the key?

    I agree and disagree. The goal for a USMNT player is getting 2000+ meaningful minutes per season at the highest level they can consistently. If thats MLS or one of the lower europe leagues, great, if its EPL/La Liga/Bundesliga/Serie A/Ligue one, even better, if its for a top 5 side in those leagues, chefs kiss. If your not getting that, and your healthy, you need to move to where you can, so if thats a lower level in the same league, ok, MLS, fine, wherever. But I agree with Landons big point, big players/starters respond in big moments, and backup players are backups for a reason. Expecting backups to handle the world cup is asinine.

    Don't be ashamed Landon for the MVP award being named after you. I think you're a humble standout guy. It proved it when you won those championships with the Galaxy. You were the last guy left after the celebration ceremonies to stay and signed autographs for the kids and fans cheering for you. So for the I commend you brother. "G's-Up"! Awesome podcast, fellas 👏.

    The weather in Buffalo (and Sweden if you need. European example) is tropical compared to Minnesota. Every time I hear about the schedule change I hear you want to dump the Loons. I don’t worry about the players. You sit still in that weather you lose toes.

    If MLS Changed there schedule to a line with the rest of the world. I think it would hurt attendance very badly. Speaking for just myself I'm a Crew season ticket holder and the most dreaded games in Columbus are those early march games. I think you would see season ticket holders in cold weather city's plummet and with that attendance.

      Agreed. I don’t like it either. I feel like it also completely shuts the door on pro/rel cause no one’s going to see a 2nd or 3rd division side play when it’s 20 below freezing

    Juan Soto is not worth the contract he received, Ohtani is worth that kind of money, because 1st it's deferred and 2nd because of the money he brings to the Dodgers for the new associations they have with Japanese companies, all the sales they will get with ohtani gear, etc... Mets are not going to get that with Soto, not to mention Ohtani is just way better than Soto, too bad Ohtani was hurt during the WS, it would have been worse for the Yankees, Ohtani hurt was still a difference maker, Soto is just not worth it

    The Attendance stat shows great progress for mls but it means nothing to the rest of the world because we measure attendance of % of occupancy because the majority of top leagues has 18 - 20 team plus promotion and relegation of teams that has different stadium variables Football has made it in america top football players are known and its way more respected Its just not the NFL as americans love americaness The main issue with MLS is the standard of play which can be improved by changing the salary cap and more investment in youth academies from a younger age group And less reliance on high school and college

    **Question** Why do you guys have an EPL segment? I’m aware of your history at Everton, especially TH, but given your USMNT history, both of your involvement with US based youth soccer, and desire to grow the game here, why not have a segment on US based players in the USL league or even up and coming college players??? Love the pod! Former GK’er here, Timmy love ya brother. Would love an episode one day on everything GK position. -Will Poz

    Great new football show on RUclips... Enjoying the content and the vibe of the show. I have a question for y'all. What is your thought on how players qualify for countries they can represent in international play? I feel it should be a little more limited that it currently is. I would say players could play for the country they are born in and the nationality of their parents on their birth certificate. This would be more accurate to gauge a nations footballing ability. Due to the reality of migration, I would also not mind a rule that allows, for example, a player that legally lives in a country for say, 12 years before turning 18 could also represent that country. Your thoughts?

    @Tim the goat, Soto is absolutely over paid. Really good hitter but that is all. Offers nothing else. As for the years thing, unfortunately to land a free agent you gotta go long on the years. Mets would have preferred 10 years no doubt but then they would not have landed him and he would have signed elsewhere to a team that would. It’s the nature of the beast.

    I still think MLS took a step back going to an Apple TV contract. That paired with Messi coming to the league feels like the older thinking of just drawing tons of people to the platform in order to see one player play. I'd love to watch MLS games, but I'm not and many people I talk to are not willing to buy another streaming service in order to watch it. I think that slowed it's growth in viewership significantly. Been loving the podcast guys, keep it up, and it was great to see Stu on here this week!

      I agree to a certain point but it wasn't easy to watch an LA Galaxy game in LA, there was black outs some games were shown in different channels or ESPN +, it was very annoying.

    • @Leftycpe
      @Leftycpe 4 часа назад

      @@maximusilive4theking986 I've really disliked the whole concept of blackouts forever. Growing up they made it hard to watch Columbus Crew and later Cincy FC matches. How long until streaming picks up the same idea based on where you live and we're running vpns to spoof our location and so on? The way things are split up across streaming services I've really had to just look for the best value for myself and go with that one. That all said clearly viewership wasn't that affected given the numbers for this MLS Cup so maybe more people were willing to pick up a subscription than I thought.

    about the Soto contract; The new selling point for contracts is the AAV (Average Annual Value) that the player will receive. The Yankees offered one more year than the Mets, but the Mets contract will get Soto paid more per year, for one less year of commitment. That, along with a $75MM signing bonus, a private suite for his family, and an Opt out. It came out that Soto's family has a negative interaction at a game last season at Yankee stadium, and were removed from where they were at the time. That left a sour taste in Soto's mouth, and the Mets capitalized on that by offering the private suite for the same duration as his contract. There is also a stipulation in the contract that states that if the Mets void his opt out, and make him a lifelong Met, his annual salary jumps up from $51MM per year to $55MM per year, beginning in 2030. That would make his contract worth $805MM total, all guaranteed. On Tim's point; Yes, Soto's defense is already far below league average, he's slower than the league average, and his arm is not strong. But, in the sport of baseball, your bat can make up for any weakness you may have. His eye/ bat are fist ballot Hall of Fame level. He knows the strike zone better than anyone. He is, without a doubt, one of the hardest outs in baseball. He will be able to swing a bat for the majority of that contract, and I'm guessing in the next 5 years he will fall into their designated hitter spot, and play no defense. When you have two of the richest teams bidding for you, there is no surprise the number got up to $800MM. In our lifetime, someone will be paid $1B to play baseball.
