    Even if I don't necessarily agree with either Tim or Landon on certain issues I do appreciate that they're willing to express strong comments without fear. Most other commentators don't want to risk their access to coaches, players, etc.

    French USMNT fan since 2002 here. It’s always a pleasure to hear Landon Donovan, my favorite soccer player ever (yeah, can you believe that ? I had Papin, Zidane, Henry and Mbappé in my country but I only care about LD 😂)

    Just wanted to say thank you for using this platform to deliver entertaining soccer media, with your unique insights and perspectives. There was definitely a huge gap for the USMNT fans.
    Question: MLS has come a long way from its inauguration however; there is still a long way to go before it can truly compete on the world stage. What are two changes that the MLS needs to make in order to be on the short list of elite organizations?

    Caps (per Wikipedia): The term dates from the practice in the United Kingdom of awarding a cap to every player in an international match of rugby football and association football. In the early days of football, the concept of each team wearing a set of matching shirts had not been universally adopted, so each side would distinguish itself from the other by wearing a specific sort of cap.

    Gentlemen, you were asking about the history of the term “caps” for appearances. It dates to the earliest days of the game, back in the Victorian era when players usually just showed up in their work clothes: teams were often distinguished by wearing different coloured caps. I believe the first reference to caps is from Sheffield FC, in rules published in 1857 that required each player to bring a red and a blue cap to the game. As things developed, clubs and national teams started providing caps, and eventually it became custom & practice among some national teams to hand out actual hats even though that was no longer part of the uniform.

    Question:
    This is for Landon.
    Hi Landon. You were my hero for most of my childhood as a diehard Galaxy fan and you still are. (Love you too Tim) My question to you is why did you retire so early? I was only twelve at the time and I would have loved to see you stay at the Galaxy for a couple of more years. The age of 32 seems pretty early as there are players who play till their late 30s in MLS. Example: Tim Ream.

      Jose he isnt wrong. He just coached my team, South Korea and he was EVERY bit the same disaster as he was coaching the US and ONCE AGAIN, like Timmy said, it was really the players managing themselves and winning in spite of Juergen rather than him carrying them. I really dont understand this either because for Juergen to reach the level that he did as a player requires a level of work ethic, focus, discipline and intelligence that is top-class (for sure he was a better player and in a different class than either Howard or Donovan) and yet he hardly displayed these traits as a manager

    • @Chudsic
      @Chudsic 6 дней назад

      @@estherlee5527 For context, Philipp Lahm, one of the greatest fullbacks in history, said this about Jurgen: "We practically only practiced fitness under Klinsmann. Tactical things were neglected. There was very little technical instruction and the players had to get together independently before the game to discuss how we wanted to play, All the players knew after about eight weeks that it was not going to work out with Klinsmann. The remainder of that campaign was nothing but limiting the damage."
