Chapter 5 of 6, Patrick and Richard have to paddle down vast swathes of uninhabited river. Crocodiles become an issue, as the snapping river dwellers get a little close for comfort. Richard meets a baby cassowary, a bird that in a few years could kill a human. And we learn about Papua New Guinea's contemporary cannibalism, without the sensationalist descriptions that the western media portray.

I'm a Kiwi (NZ) tramper, and NANA and I have such huge respect for you guys doing this! 😍🌿🙆🏻♀️ I have known plenty about PNG all my life because many of my friends have lived up there as missionaries over the last 60+ years. My Nana's old treadle sewing machine went up there in the 1960s for locals to sew without power. ❤️ I have only just come across your channel and I'm hooked! Well done - great adventure, great videography and fantastic narration. ❤️

To be honest, no Papua New Guinean would have done a two men trip across the country crossing mountains, thick forests and rivers. You should be proud of yourselves embarking on a trip that wasn't done ever before. Just so you know that the mouth of mighty Fly River has claimed many lives traveling on small dinghies. Congrats and may God continue to guide yous in your adventures.

Sailed up the Fly to Kiunga and hitched to the Ok Tedi mine, then hitched a lift on a Milne Bay Air plane to Wewak in 1997. Have photos and a bit of video of Kiunga if you're interested.
