East Angling
Великобритания
Добавлен 20 сен 2006
This channel will be a series of "Guides" full of information and tips for both local and visiting anglers.
Been fishing since the age of 6 and still learning. I enjoy all types of fishing including Pike and Perch in the colder months but nothing beats being on a beach, day or night not knowing what or even if you will catch.
I've been a member of the
Norfolk Angling Club for just about a year now, enjoying the company of a really great bunch of like minded anglers. We fish our club matches on Monday nights all around our Norfolk coastline.
The matches are competitive but very friendly, with everyone willing to help each other and pass on tips and advice, especially for new members. Come along and say hello 👍
If you have enjoyed these videos, I also have some Pike and Perch fishing videos on my other channel.
Thanks

Its the Third week of July and the hot weather from 3 weeks ago is back. Several days of settled warm weather gives me the opportunity to head down to Southwold and target some Sole. I have a late evening high tide (10.15pm) calm sea and a light south westerly wind, ideal conditions. Temp on the way down was high 20s but as soon as the sun dipped down and with the light sea breeze, it felt comf...
Holiday Sessions IOW 24

A few short clips highlighting just how difficult holiday fishing can be. Even with local tackle shop info and advice its a struggle to work out marks and tactics in such a short period of time. Hopefully over several visits , it will all come good one day.. These sessions were taking in early June 2024 on the West side of the Isle of Wight..
Sea Fishing Scratby (Norfolk)

It's the end of June and finally the good weather has arrived. Fishing has been very hit and miss the last few weeks, with high winds and the end of the May rot, hopefully. With the decent weather, the beaches also get very crowded during the day, so I have to alter my filming strategy. Arriving late evening/early morning and fishing into the daylight, disappearing as the holiday makers arrive....

Hello Dave 👋 Just watched buddy that's a good way to have a presention night well-done to everyone enjoyed watching buddy tight lines 🎣👍
Nice one dave. All the best from G.Y
Thank you David for a very informative vid and well presented. Being new to sea fishing I'm hoping to fish in Sheringham in early October. I am enjoining working through all your RUclipss and any more you produce. Colin.
Thanks for your kind feedback. Good chance of a decent Bass on October 👍
Nice one for another vid.
Thanks Carl 👍
@@david892006 I was out at daft o'clock yesterday for a 5.15 high . Managed 2 cracking thornback Ray of 43cm on the wings. Near cleethorpes. Love the show, All the best.
Hello Dave👋 I am a bit of a catch up with videos life as being a bit hectic just of late needed some chill time. Thank you for bringing us another quality video buddy i enjoyed this one well done on the fish especially the Sole one of my favourite fish its surprising we catch them with the mouths there have but there are beautiful fish. I will be working through the videos soon and get caught up buddy in the meantime take care and tight lines 🎣 👍
Nice one John. I just watched your Sole video. They were a couple of lovely fish . I didn't realise you got them in the Humber 👍
@@david892006 Hessle Foreshore dose seems to hold a fair few Dave that was my biggest so far at 31cm but there must be a few bigger ones it good at this time of year tight lines buddy 🎣 👍
So surprised that you didn’t get a ray or two. You fished the right tide for Shingle Street & used all the right baits. Obviously the fish weren’t there. Just one of those nights I suppose. The sea state looked ideal too. All the best for your next trip 🙏🐟
That's fishing for you .. probably go next time, everything wrong and catch one 😁
@@david892006 True
As its been difficult sleeping I think I'd have just dozed off anyway in those cooler conditions David, Just set the drag and trust your four legged 'perimeter alarm' to let you know if anyone comes around .........which I know she does very effectively 😂
Spot on. If I did have a doze, nobody is getting within 30yds of me with that one 👍
Well I love your video and the information you give next is shingle street we were in felixstowe last weekend just had small shall bass at manor parked nice big carpark and very clean toilets we went to bawsley nice there so that on the hit list but that were we see the were shingle street was and then you had fished at shingle street so I now no were to go but it will be the last week in September so for now keep the video coming it Devon for me for 2 weeks tight lines
Thanks for watching and your feedback. September will be a good time for Shingle street if you get the correct tides. Bawdsey is also on my list to do 👍 Thanks
It’s tough fishing at the moment, but a least you caught something. I personally, would try one of the estuaries at the moment, perhaps Breydon or Wells or the many others in North Norfolk.
Yes always like it this time of the year. I normally give the lures a go when it's like this. But even that has been very patchy 👍
👍🏼
Thanks for watching 👍
Looks just like the beach at Aldeburgh where my uncle lived
Yes. It's very similar to the beach past the 'dirty wall ' at Aldeburgh but not such a long walk. I plan on re visiting The Street soon 👍
I’ve walked down that bit of Southwold but never thought of fishing it.👍
I only fished that far end as the beach was so busy. Just either side of the pier is good. Another area that's been suggested is the Gun Hill area 👍
Hi Dave, i was always told go to the right by thecliffs, is the place for sole, between the towers is 3 mounds, near them is where i have caught bass in the past. Steve.
Thanks . Someone has mentioned that and I'm going to give it a try next time I'm that way . 👍
Thanks for taking us along with you again David, I love your style of presentation informative yet laid back, Shame about the lack of fish but hey what a great sunrise and weather, we'll all be wishing for these conditions in a few months when the waves are crashing in making it unfishable 😂 Cheers mate 👍
That's so true ... Once the wind and rain return we can moan about that 😂
Another good video Dave . Love watching these mate 👍
Thanks Pete. Your last one looked mega hard work. I knew it would be Rick hard . Definitely the wrong state of tide in those conditions 👍
Oh nice video had some great sole fishing along that beach
Can't beat a nice big Sole for tea 😉
Thanks for the video. Not much in the way of action but I have had some nice thornbacks from that beach in the colder months. Oh to be able to catch a few codling again like back in the sixties and seventies. I often sit and wonder how many codling we would have caught if we had the tackle and rigs and the know how that we have today. Just wishful thinking I’m afraid. Until the next one, tight lines 🐟
I can remember mid 80s catching cod in 2s and 3s from Bacton in Norfolk most weekends. I'm definitely going to give Sizewell more goes when the conditions are better 👍
It seems pretty rubbish right along the Suffolk/Norfolk coast at the moment, but I guess that is the norm, but what more do you want sitting there fishing with your best friend on a fine morning , yes a fish would be a bonus, but you can’t have everything…
That's so true. A lovely cool night away from daytime temperatures with the hound .. It does seem very slow all over at the moment but as you say, expected in these conditions 👍
Well that's fishing for you but good video buddy my brother got a fruit shop in leiston keep them coming cheers
Thanks for watching 👍
My local beach and regular visitor. Had 8 bass a few weeks ago at least 4 sizeable, on rag. Saxmundham angling down the road always happy to help with rag worm
Your very lucky to live so close to that beach, stunning place. I did try Sax Angling but they had sold out . I'll come better prepared next time 👍
Two things the two platforms were for sizewell a not b and are no longer in use if u want to fish Sizewell u need To go to your right past the White House towards thorpeness point right in front of you is a sand bank advise only may help u or some one else enjoy your vids
Many thanks for your info. That's very useful to know and people can pick that up from the comments. Thank you
Great video and content mate. Just curios as to what rods you were using, they look very nice and tippy but also powerful ?
Thanks for watching. Those rods are Daiwa Crosscast surf 14ft (3 piece) and can handle up to 225g Still available now, Ive had mine around 5 years. I bought them for holiday fishing as they pack down easier for the car 👍
Nice one on the bass n sole. I had a 34 , n a 36cm sole last week . And a few friends. Cleethorpes on the humber. Love the show. All the best from G.Y
Wow they are decent sized Sole, did you take them for eating. My favourite tasting fish these days 👍
@@david892006 no put em bk chief. Iwill take one home to try one day. But in all the excitement I end up putting bk then I fink about cooking one when it to late lol. All the best matey.
@carldawson832 Most of mine go back tbf
I live just down the road in Leiston, i use to sea fish a lot but got fed up with feeding the crabs, so i do fresh water fishing now, all the best and tight lines in your fishing,
Thanks for watching. I have gone the other way. I fished matches on rivers and lakes for 30+ years and Pike fished in the winter. The coarse venues got very busy so I switched to sea fishing more. I love the fact you can still find quiet beaches and some space 👍
Great outing to a promising venue - maybe it needs a longer spell of settled weather to draw the fish in… look forward to giving it another go.
Definitely Chris. Might be worth a really late one into morning. I'll keep tabs on it
great video matey i would of kept the bass 🤪🤪🤪👍👍👍
I would have if it had been later in the session. I had no way of keeping it cool . I'll take a cool box and ice packs next time 👍
@@david892006 im just happy to catch anything David 👍👍👍
@homemadecookingonabudget9048 This time of the year and these conditions, should be plenty of Bass early morning or late evening 👍
Enjoyable video. Dunwich during the day was hard going, bright sun and really hot conditions really knocked the fishing on its head apart from 1 lone bass. I'll have to give it a go into darkess next week after seeing your session. Rods look good, what are they?
Those rods are the Daiwa Crosscast 14ft 3 piece. My travel/holiday rods as they fit inside the car easier. Very sensitive but can cast 60oz. Always better after dark this time of the year 👍
@@david892006 thanks for that, yeah daytime fishing during summer is hard going. I'll definitely take a look at the crosscasts, just wanting something with a really sensitive tip. Thanks, and keep up the great videos 👍
Hey bud.New to your Channel and as a 45yr 'Norfolk dumpling ' myself I watched a few videos but have yet to see any fishing at Cromer and Dunwich.. Enjoy the rest of this evening and if you have any further suggestions I would appreciate them .Many thanks mate 💯👍
Hi. Thanks for watching. Cromer is a hard venue to fish/film because it's so popular with tourists. I intend to cover the pier when it's quieter. There also major sea defense work at West Cromer going on this summer. Dunwich I have covered in another video 👍
@@david892006 Thank you for the reply and I appreciate Cromer can/is difficult.Have a great evening and again thanks for the video 💯👍
Another good video buddy and loads of fish and a lovely bass i would have had that one for my tea
It was tempting, but it meant keeping it in very warm weather, even the sea water was warm 👍
Nice m8
Great session, very enjoyable viewing.
Thanks for your kind comment 👍
Excellent! Thanks for Sharing your fishing experiences!!!
Thanks for feedback 👍
What size fishing line is on your rig that is in the plastic bag that you showed that you had already had tied what pound test line is that thank you
The main rig line is 60lb and the hook snoods are 25lb. The hooks are size 1/0. I always use 60lb for the main rig body, as there are knots tied in it. This slightly reduces the breaking strain to about 50lb (Still strong enough) to cast 3 or 4oz leads 👍
Cheers for the vid again. All the best from G.Y
Hi I find it incredible that you didn’t even get a mackerel. Just one of those days I suppose. Thanks for going to the effort of uploading the video, it must be hard to make an interesting video when there’s just nothing doing. Better luck next time 🐟
Yes always hit and miss on holiday. They had scattered during the rough weather and were further out. There was some bass caught there 2 days later 🤷🏻♂️
Why do you want to catch a Ray? All that time and effort and planning, and cost! To catch a Ray? You’ll get the Doggies, I’ll bet.
It's never really a specific target. Usually it's based on where I'm fishing and what I'm likely to catch. It rarely works out like that though and ive often had brilliant days catching other species instead 👍
Nice work. We going to have a try tomorrow on that beach tomorrow hopefully . We travelling down from Sheffield. any recommendations for bates ? New to sea fishing. We have been enjoying your channel for a while now. Before leaving the madness of the north 😂 all best 👍 tight lines 4th of July any help appreciated 👍
If your visiting a tackle shop, try to get hold of a few crabs, even if it's frozen ones. Failing that definitely some 3 to 4inch unwashed squid, fished whole . Or the latest bait for the smoothounds if you can't get crab is Raw king or tiger prawns. About £3.75 for a bag of 12 in Asda. If you can get lug or ragworm, that will pick up the flatfish or Bass, good luck 🍀🤞🏻
@@david892006 thank you so much. Really appreciate your advice 👍
@darrentaff8374 you are most welcome 👍
@darrentaff8374 I forgot to add, if you want to target Rays, take some Herring or blueys and fish small baits 👍
Nice one dave , a not to bad of a session. That's my favourite time to go fishing aswell. All the best from G.Y
Hello great watching you can you please show us your bivvy and explain how to put up please thanks
Hi. Yes I can do that. I'll put it up and film it as soon as possible 👍

Nice session Dave and finished off with a last cast fish.
What a fish now that's gotta make your Day
Considering it was a last minute trip, it worked out very well. Beach to myself and the dog all night. Lovely congratulations and plenty of Hounds 👍
my favorite location. well done
Cheers Dave, a really useful video as usual.
I love your videos David not only for the fish but they are also very informative thank you & keep up the good work cheers Andy from Halesworth👍👍👍👍👍

Apologies, Sound was all good before it uploaded, 👍

Hello Chris. You can see me use the lures in part 2 if that's what you mean ?
Great video Dave as always informative . Look forward to a catch up soon. Helping other Anglers learn is invaluable.
