Memorial Day thoughts & bring-back books.
The recoil I find rather mild for k31, I Don’t know what ppl complain about. Am 125 lb 5foot 5 and shot 30-06 all day long. And 20-30 round of single buck 12 g before needing a break😊
I want one
I'm trying to keep myself from getting another. Love it so much.
Awesome video awesome rifle don't worry about the chip in the stock call it a battle wound now it has even more charisma and character
Vendo una
The F 8 rifle is a nice design are those type a rifles available in working order
Thats the gun i learned to shoot with in 1970, my dad past last year and now its in my safe.
I had mine for few years but havent really shot mine for past few years. I may have ran about the same amount as you did. I cleaned mine almost after every use (about 50-200 rounds) and I would see the piston getting caked. Back then, I couldnt find much information on 1301 so I thought I messed up by cleaning the self cleaning action. I do remember losing the rubber O ring that fell from somewhere😅. After while, it did keep running but I doubted its reliability so I started shooting more of my pump shotgun. Just came across your video randomly and wanted to leave a comment.
...I'm so old that I remember the BM-59s that Springfield Armory (and the full color catalogs) sold in the 80s...
I have a lot factory parts for these 👍👍
No kidding?! Thats great. If you'd ever like to sell or trade, message me. I'm always looking for parts! Thanks info@midwesternfc.org
GG&G is another option for the Magpul stock adaptor kit. A tad cheaper and I haven't heard anything negative about the kit they provide.
Have had 3 built they all are wonderful and will be in my collection until I take a dirt nap...
Thank you for sharing guys! A pleasure to see the gun and your insight it is appreciated. That gets positive attention from other fans.
I remember as a kid when "Hunters Lodge" had a load of neat stuff -
Been over a year for me and nothing
Our friend mentions near the end of the video to be careful about the ammo that you fire through these. The fact is, they were only really meant to fire 115 grain ball ammo. Any higher grain and you're asking for trouble...
Add some nice Wood grips!!!
Video starts at 4:15. The rest before then is a waste of time. Dude, just unbox your rifle already. Jeeze.
Thanks for the tip Gary. PS: This is why I have chapters and a pinned timed stamp.
I usually don't like music with my gun videos. But his was spot on.
Thank you for the kind words and I appreciate you watching. Take care.
I believe I'll avoid Hunter's Lodge offerings. It's absolutely ridiculous they would send out corroded scrap metal like those "rifles". Outright fraud to suggest there's anything of value there.
By as many old 22s as u can afford.. I doubt if u will be disappointed. They where my first gun and in my old age my last
Its funny how things come full circle. I really do enjoy these older, quality .22s. Thanks for the comment and for watching. All the best and take care.
The one I know of is in way better shape
I know of one other. My uncle gave it to me
Great gift!
I bought a Yugo M59/66A1 with no import markings, just the Zastava factory mark for $350 4yrs ago shes a beauty❤
Great deal. They sure are a lot of fun.
13 dolares? 💳💳💳
The original Hunters Lodge was a great outfit to do business with. Headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia they had real quality surplus weapons. That was of course in the1950's and early 60's. Evidently, they current one adopted the original name and are using it or their sales now. Sad
🎵Those were the days🎵 Actually, I've very happy except for the wrong revolver parts which is very frustrating.
I have a 1983 P1 beautiful shape recently shooting top dust cover came off at outdoor range and a pin , spring ,sight flew all over the thick grass. We found everthing somehow. I'll have to test it again . I don't want loose parts. Any suggestions keeping cover on ?
Wow, one lucky guy. Cant believe you found everything! I've never had any issues with the cover coming off, in fact my two were difficult to get off so many just check and make sure everything is cleaned up and locking in well. Good luck to you!
I had one that did the very same thing so I bought a new top cover from Sarco and it hasn't given me anymore problem...
Never EVER EVER let any gun get that nasty. NEVER
Grips super glue and baking soda, build it up slowly, and then take a Dremel to the grips it will fix them up real good
They are anodized frames, dyed and sealed. Chances are they're black dye wasn't quite hot enough when they dipped it. So when it sealed, it faded slightly. With how many of these things they were pumping out, not surprised!
I thought it might be an imperfection in the anodizing process or something along those lines. They sure were cranking them out!
Sorry to see & hear the bad news on the FS-8, thats a poor look rifle, and the S&W parts kits, but I do say, The Enfield Mk2 looks nice. And those 2 S&W K frames should clean up beautiful, drop those to into a sonic cleaner. The one will break free. I have always stayed clear from hunters lodge, but Yes!, I have been burned many times from R.T.I. and people say they are changing and getting better. But No.!, I called and talked, and asked nicely about my issues and i got no where. Just a very poorly Run company. Well enough of that. I hope to see you 2 S&W K frames looking beautiful in the future. Great video as always, no crazy music, and always good to see you my friend
Hello my friend! Thanks for the comment. Have you had good luck with the sonic cleaner? I haven't tried one yet but was interested. The FR8's actually have great bores so I'm excited for those and the S&Ws. Too bad about the revolver parts...I needed those. I have one FR8 done and the other soon so I'll be sure and post them.
@MidwesternFC yes I have a vevor 30L one, it's huge and I fill mine with hot water and put my small parts or what ever I want clean in zipplock bags with degrease or what ever cleaner I'm using at the time , and the water in the Ultrasonic cleaner is stet to the highest set of heat. So I don't have to buy 30L/ 7.29 gallons of cleaner. And brother IT WORKS WONDERFUL. but if I have to clean big parts. I used distilled water and Dawn platinum dish soap also with the heat on the highest setting This work very good too. I hope this helps you my friend. Also wait till black fri. That's how I saved almost $100 off mine 2yrs ago. By the way my Name is Daren', always good to see your videos and talk / text with you too my friend. I'm always here if you need anything
Spanish FR8....thats an old rifle ive always wanted
Its a very cool Mauser variant and glad to have them.
When I saw you open that last revolver up, I thought you scored a Webley. I’ve always loved getting my hands on functional cheap old guns. Then taking them polishing them like jewelry and blueing or blacking them. I would have that revolver engraved and maybe do some gold inlaying on it with a combination of blueing and blacking. Basically taking something that is worthless and making it something to lust after.
Agreed. Great projects and the possibilities are endless. Thanks for watching and for the suggestions!
You may want to fumigate your house after opening those. You definitely don't want to see how those were stored.
I can only imagine.
Take the worst to gun buyback program, may get your money back, or more. Lol
Good idea!
My favorite SKS stories were the ones that everybody bought when Georgia Russia fell and they were selling out all their armament. The gun shop near my house had them for like $129 mint condition never used. Everyone at my work was buying them up. Then a whole bunch of people noticed that they had big 40 or 30 round clip. They figured out why when they went to the gun range if you have a brain in your head you'll understand. To this day they have them registered and no one has ever asked for them back🎉
A nice bonus for sure!
That first rifle isn't even gunsmith special quality. It's beyond pitted and even if you cleaned it up and restored it. Likely you wouldn't be able to fire it... my god man. You would be better off going to an ATM and withdrawing the money you spent and lighting it on fire.
I'm someone who likes projects so I'll see what I can do with it. Surprisingly enough it had a GREAT bore. I think I can get her working again :-)
I would make replacement screws instead of buying them. Good thing to learn how to do, and you should be able to modify an existing screw, turn down a larger one's head and threads and re-thread it with a cheap Tap and Die kit (which you should already have if you do gunsmithing).
Great idea and suggestion. Something I need to work on anyway. Thanks!
I don't have a youtube channel but I will give my advice on yours. Don't buy from them. You will most likely get a box of turds. They violate postal regulations with their slow shipping. Send out junk.
I just ordered my k31 can't wait to go to the range!! Also Fritz must be a common name in Switzerland. The tag on my K11 had Fritz written on it.
I won't one . I would make me a holster to fit my suspenders when fishing to take care of some of the poisonous snake population. yall got copper head snakes ? if not you can have ours , but you catch them.lol, 😊 papa
No thanks, we have enough copperheads and cottonmouths. Keep em! Its a fun little pistol. Thanks for watching.
unless you personally know who you buy sight unseen it's buying a pig in a poke, bag. a good practice is if going for military surplus take a cleaning kit check bore, bolt , matching serial numbers. if person or gunshop won't let you do this , red flag and just walk away no matter how bad you think you want it. save yourself from heart break. papa wishing you well. 😊
Thank you Papa! For 88 dollars it was worth the gamble and will be a good project. They both have great bores it turns out! Thanks for the support.
It can still fire and function with the pitting. For what you paid for it, i think you're overreacting a bit
Agreed and they both have great bores. One cleaned up well already and I'm working on the other.
What's the name of the site you ordered from? The revolvers are interesting.
You have to call or email. No website ordering.
@MidwesternFC ah okay. I looked online, but it was really strange trying to use it.
Hi from Czechia (little country in eastern europe). one GOOD thing that our goverment did, is that weapons in such condition (like the first FR-8 or worse) are illegal to sell as a regular firearm by a company to you, and would have to be sold ONLY to someone with for example a gunsmith licence or a museum.
what is the deal im broke poor as a begger on aa disability pension that does not even cover my rent and so many youtubers just want to buy literal junk and scams just to make videos about being ripped off you want to do some thing good with that cash help a brother out lmfao in my dreams
I can’t watch your videos. You know this was Hunters Lodge and you sound so distraught over what you received. You can state the problems with the rifles without the anguish.
Thank you for the honest commentary. I do put time stamps in there so you can jump to the re-caps if you are interested.
The one and only time I ordered from Hunter's Lodge it took months to ship and they arbitrarily sent the guns to a random FFL dealer 30 miles away from me instead of to my Curio & Relic license that I used as the shipping address. Complete idiots.
🇨🇭🇨🇭🇨🇭🫵👍✌️🇨🇭🇨🇭🇨🇭
It’s like watching a disappointing Christmas video
The bores on the FR8's turned out really good at least. The 'good one' has already cleaned up nice.
