Icons of Porsche Overview
What an event! The Icons of Porsche event was the most epic event of all things Porsche across two days. I got to see some of my favourite cars and share the light with a whole new crowd. We made some stunning images in challenging conditions, but most importantly I, and those who came into my orbit, had a blast!
I am looking forward to working with Porsche some more, we have some exciting irons in the fire.
A huge thanks to Porsche Middle East for putting the event on and having me along. And of course Ludo for making everything happen. Legend!
Do not hesitate to make contact to discuss bring AutoART to your event, club or personal collection.

SMITH CREATES STUFF - Liquid Light with Lotte
Просмотров 32221 день назад
My good mate Lotte and I went down to the beach on a 40degree night here in Adelaide. It was perfect, no wind, calm sea and some colour in the sky. This was Lotte's first night in the water light painting and she smashed it. SHARK STORY - a great white was filmed under the jetty about 800m down the beach just before we went in the water. Saw it the next day on the news. Does that make us extrem...
ICONS OF PORSCHE - Enrico Fulgenzi Racing
Просмотров 13921 день назад
This incredible year of travel, activations and all around light painting madness took me through Dubai and the Icons of Porsche event in November. There are some cool stories and images coming, but this was a highlight. I ended up doing a pop-up activation around this beast of a car. The team from Enrico Fulgenzi Racing were so cool and we absolutely blew some minds. A massive shout out to Por...

SMITH TRIES STUFF - HOBOLITE AVANT MAX
Просмотров 4194 месяца назад
This is a first look at the Hobolite Avant Max and Mini Max (I think I mucked up the naming in the video). I am off to Scotland tomorrow, so this was a pretty quick rough edit. When I return we will be taking these into the wild, I have some amazing ideas to really push these lights hard. As with all SMITH TRIES STUFF we actually make images, no fancy unboxing here. You can see the products her...

More to come, but I hope you enjoy this little play. Derek Pascoe - derekpascoe.com/ Luke Altmann - www.alt...
SMITH CREATES STUFF - Water Walls

I play around Port Adelaide a lot, and the epic Wonderwalls often play a part. This shot has been in my mind for years. Mik and I made it happen. Live composite on the Olympus (OM System) cameras allows us to make single shot light painting images on epic scales in very bright environments. Walkie talkies, long lenses and good mate, perfect night. You can see Mik’s amazing work here - instagram...
SMITH CREATES STUFF - Auto Art

I have been a bit quiet around the tube these past weeks. We have been working on a project around Automotive activations, and it has been awesome. This video is a small part of it, showing a bit of past work. There is a new gallery over at www.denissmith.com.au/autoart I have about 8 videos sitting on timelines waiting to finish, this is the week. I hope you are all well. Peace, Denis

This is Peter, absolute legend, came out on a cold wet week night to work on this project. Way more to come on this project, but here is a teaser. Peace, Denis www.denissmith.com.au/gallery/auto-art

Просмотров 8326 месяцев назад
This amazing tool has been sitting on my shelf for 10 years waiting for some love. In this video I refurbish my first Ball of Light Tool alongside my first ever light painting tool, and take them for a play on the beach. So much fun! I refer to the Light Junkies page on Flickr, you will get lost, but come away inspired by the complete insanity that happened back there in 2008/9 I promise - here...

I took the Hobolite Iris out for some actual intentional light painting. This idea of trying things out is not for some in-depth technical analysis. I reckon just taking them out and ,making work is better that that thing. Wow......! I am happy for you, you are really unbelievable! What an Art! Puffff!
what a beauty of work! My goodness!
Hi there. I found your channel for the first time. Great what I have seen here. Thanks a lot for your time and work you do for all of us. Please, bear with me, I am very new into photography. First of all, what a piece of Art what you have done with this camera. However, something that made me a little crazy was.......if you are in front of the camera doing those figures with the rope and lights, why aren't you as well inside the frame? It is like you became a ghost for the camera or invisible! haha! Remember to bear with me if my question sounds stupid. I am getting ready to buy this camera....is the M.Zuiko 17mm F1.2 perfect for that type of composite or it will need a lense with less aperture like the 12-40 F2.8 Pro otherwise, please, tell me the best one for that? Please, let me know. I send you many greetings from Muenster, Germany. Alfredo. MERRY CHRISTMAS and PROSPER NEW YEAR 2025 to you and family. Alfredo.
Thanks for letting me try, I had such a fun night. It was just perfect.
Great stuff, Denis! Great images & clips, beautifully organised and accompanied by super music! Well done, you!
Thank you Norman, it was a great trip away.
Nice work Denis!
Thank you.
Minimalist but so powerful
Thank you. Less is often more. have a lovely day.
So cool but I won't be repeating it off the coast at Blackpool. Too cold, too turdy.
Bloody hell mate! Thats phenomenal!!
Thanks mate. I’m glad you enjoyed it.
That looks a load of fun, how did you water proof the tools?
Hi Paul. Ive been developing these tools for about 6 years now. I promise you there is a large container of dead torches and failed prototypes. I used to build and sell them. But, they are built from ABS plastic and use stainless steel fittings. The key is to use dive torches. However, they are still not perfect for this. I took 6 tools with me that night, and had one torch fail. A disappointing, but normal thing. It is a balance. The really good torches are hundreds of dollars each, way outside my reach, and the cheaper ones are problematic. So, the answer to your question is that these are tools designed very specifically for this application. thanks for coming by mate. Peace, Denis
Thank you so much :) Very inspiring person and doing it the DIY way behind the great shots and the aproach . I find that the connectivity is also greater to gear that is made in an idea and self made. A passionate Artist <3
My absolute pleasure. Thanks coming by the channel.
An exceptional artist
Hi Graeme, you are very kind, I appreciate that. Peace.
Stunning
Thank you. I had so much fun there.
whaou
🙏
Great examples ,Thank you. Will try it with my OM1. Regards to Down Under from Germany, obove it.
Thank you. I’m sure you will have a blast. The om1 is a great piece of kit.
Nice one
Nice job, need to buy me a 3d printer. Seen some very cool stuff being made. The images created are amazing.
Thanks mate. 3d printers are so affordable, and awesome now.
Very Cool piece of kit...friends....Friends are important.
Thanks mate, it was such an amazing trip, with some good friends!
Awesome SMITH. Beautiful colours and what special memories. It would have been such a fantastic trip.
Thanks mate! I might bring it this weekend.
Another great vid nice one
Thank you Paul. Im pleased you enjoyed it.
whaou......
wow awesome results, very cool blade, thanks Denis
Thanks mate, neat tool aye. So many amazing memories!
Such a cool tool, I wonder how was the process for all the people in the video to make a glass tool. I love glass ❤
Hey! I remember everyone having a great time. A huge part of it was sitting realising who I was sitting around the table with. That was mind bending!
@SCHOOLOFLIGHT For sure! So many photographers lightpainters, artists! ❤️
Light going trough glass is just so much better than everything else. All those plastic tools despite the effects and shapes are no where near the beauty of the light passing the glass!
I agree mate. Glass is so good. I love playing with bootlegs as well the amount of variety in texture shape and colour is endless. Thanks for coming by 🙏
Thank you very much for this great tutorial Dennis! It inspires me so I “must” go out soon to try this 😀👍
My pleasure. I hope you have a mountain of fun.
Greetings from the States. I have been considering Hobolite for several months. Your review helped me to make my decision to get the Creator Kit for the the Iris. Great presentation for the product review! Just subscribed to your channel and I will check out more videos.
Thanks. They are a really good product.
Totally agree regards apps and this app - super simple and doesn't miss a beat! Cheers for the review!
Shit apps piss me right off. And this is a goodie for sure.
Just stumbled across this video. I’m actually in the process of building a “wand” using addressable LED’s, a microcontroller and a 3D printer. I have an image in mind that can be programmed in that is very specific. Subbed to the channel in hopes that I can get some ideas from you for the physical parts of the build. Already have a couple ideas from this video. 😉 Keep up the good work!!
Thanks mate. I’m glad you enjoyed it. I am completely shit when it comes to addressable anything. I’ve tried so hard. Let’s see if we can’t get something happening for you. Peace. Denis.
Brilliant images created here sir! Thank you for sharing how you made them without too much technical jargon. Very inspiring!
Thanks mate. I’m a simple guy, that likes to keep it simple. 🙏
Interesting spaces. I would love to have a look at the lights if you bring them to bfop. Have fun in Europe.
Thanks mate. I will have them with me for sure.
What a great video and such a great night at Phil's. Loved learning the process of taking those amazing images with all that beautiful movement. Can't wait to experiment some more.
Thank you mate, for everything you do, and all that you are.
Oh, awesome video, Denis, and what a fantastic piece of equipment, although to pricey for my work, but very cool, your work and creations are awesome as well, thank you.
This was such a great video Denis! Very well said, and I definitely agree!
Thanks Rob. I’m glad you liked it mate. I hope you are well🙏
Such a great explanation! My first tool too and always trying to explain why it is so great, so now can just send folks here! Never tried glass, but now I will have too ;)
Thank you. Bottles are amazing to play with.
Great stuff Denis, inspiring as always
Thank you mate. I’m glad you like being here.
its awesome how in an artists hands a camera can capture a moment in time in a way that the artists mind can perceive with intention but at that exact same moment our eye can not...share more please.
Thank you🙏 it is a beautiful practice that brings me so much joy.
i own 4 universal connectors...BIG THUMBS UP !! Denis what video software is that you use in the light painting demo that shows the light painting progression ...?
Hi mate. Thanks for coming by. It is a still and video, blended in post production. 2 seperate cameras. 🙏
I agree Denis this is a great tool.I have a few and have always relied on them. Thanks for another great video and reigniting my passion for light!
Thanks Rachel, I am so pleased you enjoyed the video. 3,2,1, ignition!
The simplest ideas are often the best.
Hi Kev, less is more! I hope you are well mate
thanks Denis, I totally agree. great video
Thank you, I really enjoyed making this one.
Got to agree with you Den, first tool I bought and used with bottles, plastic and glass, as well as anything I can find that fits in. Got 6 of them now in my kit and all used for DIY or LPB tools with numerous torches. 🙏
Hi mate, so much fun, and an essential part of any kit, so pleased you stopped by.
I don't have one of those - might need to invest. Nice to see a cricket bag!
Hi mate, you will not regret it. Yeah we had so much gear on that trip. I was shooting tutorials for Olympus. so we had lighting, video gear etc. Thank for coming by.
Very informative Dennis. You seem to know the art so well with so many fantastic pieces you've done. Awesome work simply outstanding 👏 👌. I'll never forget the workshop you ran down at pt Adelaide harts mill a few years back. Got some of the most amazing images done of my silver zj Ford fairlane. You definitely opened my eyes to something I never even knew existed 😎 cheers jezz
Hi mate, I remember you and the car. That was fun. Thanks for coming for a watch.
Love my LPB tools, now I need to add some Smith tools 😉
Hi mate. I hope you’re well. Thanks for coming by.

Well said Denis, I am just starting with light painting and a universal connector was my first purchase. Jason has made some great tools that enables lots of very creative people!
Thanks mate. It is a deep and beautiful rabbit hole this man has created. I head down in regularly to be reminded. 🙏
