Sailing Adventures and Failures Pt. 2

In this Part 2 video, I continue where I left off and I talk about how we fix the latest broken part of our Lido 14 sailboat. The way that the centerboard deploys and retracts is broken. The centerboard itself is also worn from many years of use. In this video we attempt to design and create a new mechanism by which to use the centerboard so we can get our boat up and running again. I haven't found a floor flange (in my region) that has sufficient thread depth to attach both the 8" piece and the close nipple. Do you have any issues or concerns with that joint and either of them backing out? Or that each male thread only have minimal insertion into the flange?

      The wood is raised off the floor, but I have leveling feet underneath. So I give each side a little lift and spin the leveling foot to retract it before closing it up.

    J hooks are designed incorrectly. Put a 2x4 behind them then a hole thru top of 2x4. Now its shaped like a j and gravity is your friend, not your enemy.

    May I ask you how this works?

    • @hiddenhillsskillz
      @hiddenhillsskillz Год назад

      The dynamic stretching is a great warmup to get the muscles loose for your workout. I'm targeting as many lower body muscles as possible: shins, calves, quads, hamstrings, adductors, glutes. The isometrics are a great way to build tendon strength which goes a long way to reducing knee pain

    What did you use for the foam for where your toes go at the end ??

    • @hiddenhillsskillz
      @hiddenhillsskillz Год назад

      I used irrigation foam that you use to wrap PVC. At my local hardware store there were two options and I chose the one that was nicer to the touch. I'm planning on trying out a pool noodle cut down to size as my foam cushioning as well

    • @hiddenhillsskillz
      @hiddenhillsskillz Год назад

      Good points. You can cut the plywood longer than mine so it comes down farther to accommodate your height and reach. We haven't dropped it yet, but you could also place it off to the side in the walking path by the car if you're worried about that.
