Alcantara Parcel Shelf Refurbishment - BMW E34 M5 3.8 6-Speed [No.39]
Spanner Action Episode 3.
The vast majority of 90s BMW owners will be familiar with a fading parcel shelf. What was once deep black gradually fades over the years to an unsightly purple presumably due to UV exposure from the sun. After five years of ownership I finally plucked up the courage to carry out the daunting task of refurbishment. Time to get the spanners out.

Heater Motor & Fan Replacement - Mercedes-Benz W219 CLS [The Banana]
Просмотров 2,9 тыс.3 года назад
Spanner Action Episode 2. For a few months a very annoying squeaking sound has been present from the heater motor/fan. It seems to be more prominent when the outside temperature is colder, I assume where cold incoming air cools and shrinks something ever so slightly therefore causing it to rub. It used to be only intermittent but has gotten more regular to every journey. It would also get worse...
Clutch Slave Cylinder Refurbishment - BMW E34 M5 3.8 6-Speed [No.39]
Просмотров 3,5 тыс.3 года назад
Spanner Action Episode 1. Gradually the clutch was getting worse and the hydraulics clearly losing pressure, most noticeable when having to hold the pedal for longer moments such as when manoeuvring and therefore often requiring a 'double pump'. Before there was time to investigate, one day...pop. Zero pressure and a pedal stuck on the floor. Time to get the spanners out. Refurbishment kit - ww...

Very good video. All the detail thats needed. I have the roof lining to do on my E34 as well. Before you start the job it can seem a bit daunting but once you get going following your video makes it all fall into place. You had a couple of minor areas that hadn't held and I wonder if that would have been because you used straight material whereas the usual material is foam backed. This seems to be the main problem with foam backed and I wonder if you have completed a better job as to lasting ability by just using straight material. With broken plastic, and you cant get OEM new or 2nd hand sometimes I've found these pieces can be 3d printed. I needed two speaker covers for my E28 in the front footwells and you cannot tell the difference and the price was ridiculously cheap. If they dont last which I believe they will, you can just get some more printed off. Anyway thank you for a great job

I can see you done a new fuel line and adc do still have the self levelling rear suspension, how was the line done with copper or steel pipe? By the way Great video

Thanks! The fuel pipes are genuine BMW parts, the brake and SLS pipes I also ordered from BMW but on arrival they were not pre-formed like the fuel lines hence I made them myself from cupronickel instead.

@@spanneraction6601 parcel shelf upper seat belt trim... the 2 that you hammered down. Ive sold a few here in the US... the sun makes them brittle and b4 you know it its cracked.

I thought you meant the little plastic rivets I hammered. Those belt trims I've removed and refitted numerous times, we don't get as much sun so I assume that's why they're still solid.

I am interested to see how the spray adhesive holds up as the place I bought mine from recommended the expensive high temperature spray adhesive!

    • @spanneraction6601
      @spanneraction6601 2 года назад

I doubt you'd need a high temp adhesive, gravity isn't working against it so a really heavy duty adhesive isn't required.

I don't think this is the original brake fluid expansion tank. Never ever seen one on that side with that shape.

I've looked into it and believe it is correct. Does seem strange though...!

Definitely the genuine clutch fluid expansion tank and the brake fluid expansion tank arrangement. Maybe its is different on LHD cars where it is all on the same side.
