Hi Munson, I've been catching up on your videos. Good job. How much would this build cost in parts using a XCR850 as the base?
Perfect snow for some C&A's!
Great video. Did the owner of the Comp turbo ever get to line up with a stock piped Comp? I’m looking at the Jaws pipe and wondering if it’s worth it or not. I seen in your other video of your initial impressions of the Comp, you said it didn’t pull very hard at full throttle
The Jaws pipe hated the Diamond S can, the two really didn't work well together. Stock muffler the Jaws setup ran better, but ultimately it needed their tune and some clutching to wake up and be more what we were expecting. After that video I had a lot of conversations with people haha, we came to the conclusion that if you're coming from riding modified sleds and big power 4s stuff, the Comp isn't going to blow your socks off in stock form. If you're a rider who often leaves their stuff stock and decided to try the Comp from another 2s, you're gonna love the power difference.
@ awesome, thanks for the response. The plan was to run the Jaws pipe into stock muffler and run a Hot Rod Sled Shop tune with their clutching. Then I came across a few guys having issues with the Jaws pipe cutting power and it seemed to be that the Jaws likes 94-95 octane at least with the stock tune. Now I’m wondering if I should skip the pipe and just run a stage 1 or 2 tune in it.
I always appreciate your video’s and how you explain and show pretty much every detail of your work. My question deals with the length of a “safe stud” and the variability of how each company measures them? The stingers you chose are described as greater than 1.6. I was hoping to USA a woody goldigger that claims to be 1.450. Than to further confuse things I spoke to Fast-Trac and they say their 1.5 is the same size as Woddy’s 1.450. It’s been a year since you studded the track. Did you run into any issues with the longer studs you installed?
We ended up dropping down to a 1.4x" region to play it super safe. I covered the clearances quite a bit better in this video here: ruclips.net/video/QyyDraJzJns/видео.html It is a bit tricky with some of the companies measuring differently! The 1.4x" height is super safe and seems to be the go to for most Comp owners. There's some running in the 1.5/1.6" range but they're often lighter and paying close attention to track tension along the way.
Perfect project for garage/shop beers! These days are the best.
I want to have this done in 15mins with no expense.....hahaha. No truer words have been said and not followed when trying to beat your buddies!
A tale as old as time really...I'm still bummed he ditched the original prototype
Verona not far my my place actually drove right through Fonda Fultonville would be exit 28. Some great riding in Verona when we have the snow. Great riding out my door sometimes we ride to the casino been many years now though. Dam thieves people idk all kinds out there. Probably crack heads just looking for stuff to sell or trade who knows lol!! Great video very interesting 20 hp is a good gain.
I still think they were hoping for a car or motorcycles they could wheel/roll out of there easily, we'll never know for sure. What I do know is I wont be staying there with the trailer again haha
I put a rev xp seat on my old skidoo. Best mod I’ve done to it
Lol, the hot dog bag!
Imagine how many dogs he could have fit in that thing!? We would have been all set for a trailside grilling!
Working on your buddy’s seat. I was shaking my head and laughing at the same time. Make sure you ride behind him when that comes off. Lol
Oh we'll have the 360 camera rolling alright! It was certainly a fun day down at Pat's shop haha
Hey sent u guy's email for that assault torque arm never heard back it's packed and ready to go👍👍👍
Hey bud, I don't have anything on any of my accounts! Can you double check it sent to MunsonMotorsports@gmail.com?
I'll try again 👍👍@@MunsonMotorsports
@@youareright5431 I've still got nothing, what's your email? I'll try sending to you first haha
The xc went beater clap wagon to a million bucks in 2 episodes. Thing is freakin mint now!
It's definitely getting there! Got a few small things left to wrap up but all in all we're just about ready!
That pro action skid sucks in deeper snow and off trail heavy and no free wheeling because of angle of attack.
Have a Yamaha triple and dont like that rear suspension. Do you have the measurements for the mounting points for the assault skid?
I could certainly get you some measurements! I don't have them off hand but can get them soon. I've been debating having the mounting plates/templates made, but not sure if there's enough demand to warrant the time/expense.
Do you have a good email I could send you some measurements to? I still have my original templates so it's not too hard to get ya figures off of those.
U guys work on Yamaha sleds
I certainly can! Shoot me an email to MunsonMotorsports@gmail.com
Most will never understand, but I had a smile the entire video. The thrill of riding on the pipe nothing else matters but setting up for the next corner. Coming down from a high speed jump to look over your shoulder at your buddies belly pan and track I almost laughed at minute 19: and you momentarily got off it and your buddy snuck in the turn before you. It's the 8th if November when watching convinced this year will be epic. We're a resilient group aren't we. Really enjoyed it CK
I agree, I feel like we're in for a good winter too! Even if the snow isn't outrageous, the excitement to go ride again is certainly here!
In true cheater fashion you should have had your wrap built with 600 on the sides! Content suggestion, we need to know what's going on in the other garages. Get out there spying!
Everyone's been swamped with wrapping up summer work that there honestly hasn't been much other tinkering...or they're using that as an excuse and actually doing some sneaky mods!
That polaris sled your building is sweet!
Thanks bud! It's turning out way better than I anticipated haha
you could of bought an air box and the brake line for much less than the money and time you went with.
Couple nice looking Yamaha in the background.
Woaaaahhhh buddy's in the comments now!?
8 miles to the gallon?
How did the Orange RTV hold up over the Season?
No issues on our end with it! The Diamond S muffler and the pipe didn't agree, stock muffler worked great.
@ appreciate the timely reply’. I have a High Elevation and Y for my 2019 850 and haven’t installed it yet and was wondering best most Trusted Rtv before tackling it’

She sure is coming into it eh!?
@MunsonMotorsports I would say!!!!
Good looking graphics.
That’s good beautiful I have old is 1996 polaris indy 550
Nice work! That suspension usually likes more wheels on the rails for less drag. Rotate your tach so the rpm you want is at 12 o clock position. Much easier to see if your rpm is where you want it. On that engine, 8000 rpm hot pipe.
Looking good Tanner, kick some ass🤙🏻
Daaannggg
Nice work! That sled is looking good! 🤘🏼😎 like watching the vids
Thank you for the good words! More Budget Bombers stuff on the way and some more in depth technical stuff coming in December!
We knew least I did u didn't make the hot air intake ur like me and too nit picky lol. Just runs best not sucking hot air which I know u know lol
I'm real curious to see how this one does. Whether or not the runners are the same length or similar to what's in the OEM airbox, i have no idea...but at least it'll be drawing fresh air now!
@ I imagine anything is better than the hot air intake. I know ideally the intake should be same lengths and bends for mated flow however idk if it would effect it much enough to matter. Idk if it’s in ur cheap sled budget but clutching which u know is so incredibly huge. And if u could track a aftermarket y pipe (don’t remember if it was stock) that would certainly not hurt hp. When I worked counter at D&D everyone wanted to make there stuff faster and louder and bigger and badder but the thing I stressed the most was harnessing the power and getting it transmitted to the ground efficiently and effectively. I like to use +1’mm rollers in primary just to help rotational mass and when my sled ingages which was around 32-3500 I could feel the difference immediately. Since having used them for first time last season I will never run a sled on stock rollers and ramps and weights. My little XRS gets the power to the ground quicker and hits harder then several other sleds I have lined up against on trails. So much that I could sell rollers out of my book bag if I had em with me . Unfortunately my custom clutching was done by someone who is no longer with us so the secrets died with him. But I really woulda liked to see someone on a rev NGL
Air saw for the win lol!!
It works pretty well once you get the technique sorted hahah...a fresh blade certainly goes a long way too 😆
Use a long bladed razor knife piece of inch and a half flat stock
Do you heat/keep the blade really hot when doing it that way?
@MunsonMotorsport no, it cuts like butter a little WD40
Awesome project! Kudos for all the hard work, looks great!!
Thank you, I'm super happy with how it's turning out! now just gotta make sure it runs as good as it looks...
Great looking sled. Sadly those 800 Non-VES were slugs. A good working 600 will run it down.
We'll see, this thing is pretty spiced up so hopefully it runs better than a stock one. Compression is through the roof on this one...
Those cold cutters work great on stock track , I never used them on my ripsaw tracks
Nice work! Lookin' good!
“Dude” is my new drinking game 🤣
It's gotta be that or "So let's get into it" haha
Not sure if it's the same with sled tracks but super glue works well to keep the studs from tearing out on my ice set, if that becomes an issue of yours
That's a great idea, I 100% would have done that on install. If there's a next time I'll definitely be doing that
Man be careful I put those style studs in my 09 800 R crossfire and ended up with three holes in my heat exchanger because they flew out of the lugs.
Did you go with a 129 or 137 r xc?
Nvm I see they are only 137. Too bad I know you like your short tracks haha can’t wait to see content on it!
@@Sdm07120 You're on it! I do still tend to prefer the short tracks for sure, but I figure I might as well try out the 137 skid with the revisions and see how it goes. According to my dealer, the sled is built and awaiting transport so I should see it soon!
Good episode Tanner! I recently found your channel and have enjoyed 👍🏻 many videos thus far. As a fellow master mechanic and professional racing driver I can relate to the technical portions and enjoy them immensely! Keep up the good work and maybe someday we can meet and talk sleds. It’s a long drive from NE Ohio to VT, but I may do it to buy a sled near you. Best Wishes- CS
Thank you for the good words! The technical stuff is definitely the hardest for me to edit together because I feel like it may get boring quickly, even if that's not the case, it feels that way when I edit it. A lot of people keep mentioning it though so I'm gonna have to do my best to incorporate more of it throughout the season. I've got a few ideas for this season, if I can pull them off I may be taking some trips out mid/midwest to ride so maybe a channel ride could happen out that way!
@@MunsonMotorsports A channel ride could be fun! I don’t own a sled currently but will be looking in March and hopefully we get some snow this season! Keep up the great work!

Stayed at that same hotel on September 13, we had 2 trailers with 6 bikes inside. No issues. Sorry for the bad luck dude. Be hard to blame it on people from the Rez, they usually have more money than most.
Glad you didn't have any issues! Unfortunately sometimes bad luck gets us all. All we can do is upgrade the locks and hope that's enough to keep 'em out.
I had an 03 for 18 years and today I still feel it was an excellent sled for its time. There once was an outfit in Nampa Idaho called Hartman Performance. He's since sold and long gone but I bought a 136 kit from him. It included different springs, weights and gears along with the Ripsaw trak. Those old Vipers were great sleds for their time
This thing is definitely growing on me...I may not love working on certain aspects of it haha, but it's definitely quite the cool rig for it's time. We're excited to get it on snow and really ride it for the first time!
