  • What looks like our last ride in Island Pond for the season wasn't a wild one, but it was a good one. Got some quality time in riding with my father while testing some new upgrades on both sleds! This Hygear IGX linkage is the real deal!
    Unfortunately since recording this video the Brighton club has closed their trails and it looks like the season is done for in VT.
    New things coming and some trips way up into Canada on the horizon!

      It really is an impressive piece that I feel is a must have for any Assault owners looking to improve the overall trail compliance of their machine

    Got my name on one of the Hygear kits that Andy has coming in! Too bad my season is done here. Great video once again, I couldn't wait to hear you feedback on this linkage kit.

      Love to hear you got one of the few that Andy has incoming! Seems like the kits may be a little hard to get for a little while

    We have no snow in Wisconsin, Your video is the only fix I get. Thank you!
    I love all the technical information. I have noticed you talk about overheating on the trail.
    As much as I did not want to, I have installed ice scratchers on my sled. Anytime sled starts to get warm, I drop those babies and problem solved!

      I do have more content coming, am just struggling to find/make the time for editing at the moment! I already added a little mirror this year, I don't know if my ego could handle adding scratchers too 🥴

      @@MunsonMotorsportslol what do you have against scratchers? Much better than running the sled hot all day or having to stop and pack the tunnel with snow. Personally I would rather ride without constantly staring at the temp gauge.

    Nothing like a cup of corn chowder and maple ham sandwich and cup of maple ice cream with maple crunch from Averill maple.
    Last weekend that area was the best conditions around. Cool video and nice to know we’re you ride

    Just watching this now.. I have a 2019 Switchback Assault 850. Love the machine but it was running a little too hot on harder surfaces. Was also getting stuck a little too easy in deeper snow so, after experimenting with cutting some of the original, I ended up putting a short snowflap on it 4 years ago which suddenly seemed to help with cooling. Thought it was just coincidence at first but the shorter snowflap has consistently helped with cooling since then..

    RE Cooling on the assault, I was always told the kicked up rails hurt cooling by shooting a lot of snow out the back that would otherwise be picked up around the idlers.
    No idea if that's right or not but I do find my assault doesn't run as consistently cool as my 155 SKS did in similar conditions

    • @MunsonMotorsports
      @MunsonMotorsports  11 месяцев назад

      I do believe the rail tip has something to do with it as well. I think the combination of the lack of approach angle and the rail tip simply makes them less efficient in the cooling department.

  • @weeks350
    @weeks350 11 месяцев назад

    It’s because the assaults have tipped rails which pulls the track off the snow before it gets a chance to fling it into the coolers, following my vr1 you’d swear it was an rmk compared to my assault.

      @MunsonMotorsports  11 месяцев назад +1

      I had figured the rail tip had something to do with it as well, the whole combination just isn't as efficient unfortunately...a small price to pay for as fun as they are though!

      I really like the new shield! It works exactly as it should and the only negative I can even mention is that on bright days, if you stop and chat for a while with the shield up, it will start to change shades where part of the shield is covered by the visor and nose cone. So then when you take off you have a goofy line where the shades are different that takes a couple minutes to even out. Other than that, it's been absolutely flawless!

      Nothing too crazy since the intake/tune unfortunately. Snow/trail conditions hasn't allowed for it too much. Went to Canada this past weekend hoping to get more footage but between camera batteries absolutely tanking in the cold and the drive chain breaking in the Boost I wasn't able to capture much 😥
