2024 Blockheads Paint El Paseo Pink BMX Ride Out - Palm Desert, CA
Просмотров 19121 день назад
We take a ride through Palm Desert, CA with the Indio Blockheads to support "Paint El Paseo Pink." It was a beautiful day, and a ton of people came out - which didn't leave much room to ride. Probably twice as many as any previous year. Very cool. I didn’t edit this much, it was such a beautiful day I thought you guys might just want to see what it’s like - it was 65° and no clouds. Enjoy.

Were Can I buy the bike?
Citygrounds.com
You know what, they didn’t have blue when I looked.
What did u do with the old front gear? I need one. How much?
We've got one or two saved. Where you at?
@ San Antonio Tx. I’m trying to go back to stock for my son. Then gradually put upgrades back on so my son can evolve with this bike. I’m handing it down. Looking for other parts too shocks. Brake levers, calibers … everything basically. lol
Yeah email me, I should have a lot of stuff as we took it off both of our aggressor’s and saved most of it. You should be able to find my email on our page. I’m really pretty new with this.
@ all good me too earned a sub. I just started posting too.
have the same bike these are my upgrades SR Suntour GVX SQ Lab saddle Ergon seatpost (leaf springy one) Microshift Sword (1x) Paul Klampers (gift from my sister) Crankbrothers Synthesis Alloy rim (gift from my sister) Budget sealed bearing hub (6 pawls)
What would you say is/are the best upgrades you’ve done?
Nice job on the video! GT tried out that "new" style logo, and the feedback was overwhelmingly negative so a running change has been made back to the classic logo design ( I prefer the classic as well). Hopefully you are enjoying your bike!
Thanks Forrest! So far it’s great. I definitely like this logo better, it was a nice surprise. Thanks for the help!
What travel is your fork? The aggressor comes with a 100mm, can I upgrade it to 120mm?
I believe that Judy is a 120
And yes you can
Love that bike your on.❤
Thanks! It was pretty basic, but after all of the upgrades, I can’t tell you how much I like it too
Look at a Venzo saddle (seat) maybe a sram rival axs flat top chain. just a thought. fun bikes for sure..
Is those stems just as strong like let’s say an s&m shredneck? I’m having a hard time justifying $80 for a stem… seems like that GT should be plenty strong.
I wouldn’t be able to compare the two, but it seems plenty strong. I wouldn’t ride it otherwise!
Just happened upon your channel and quite glad I did. Great content, high quality! Keep up the great work and hopefully others will find you as I did.
Much appreciated!
Are yhe tires tge 65 PSI or 110 psi version?
Says 60psi on the sidewall.
@@thebikefam thanks, I'm really considering ordering it. Just want a few extras. High PSI tires and 28 tooth sprocket, maybe pegs, hubgaurds decide whether to swap my free coaster back and forth
Just got back into bikes recently with my 8 and 4 year old - both just learned to ride with no training wheels! I had a gt bump and Mach one as a kid. Seeing you and your son work on stuff together is great! Keep the longer vids coming - great channel! Thanks
Thank you! That’s awesome about the training wheels. I’m about to try a balance bike with my youngest. We’ll see how that goes.
@@thebikefam we also used a balance bike - they are great he had that till we came across a bike with training wheels and that seemed to be a good transition to really riding!!
Awesome!!!
Thanks!
Great video!!! Awesome to see the Family all into the Big BMX! Subscribed!!!
Hey thanks a lot, hope you enjoy!
good vid as always i might upgrade pedals next
Yeah, that’s a good idea. I’m sure if I mention it he’ll have a couple picked out before bed.
has he thought about getting a half link chain?
Actually, we meant to get one by now. Somehow I screwed that up, but we should get that done in the next couple weeks...
I don’t know what sizes of bikes for me to get I’m probably around 5’3 or 5’4 and I’m thirteen I want this bike but what size should I get?????
26” will work and fit if you get bigger. 29” should be ok too many of my sons friends are same size and have no issues.
Yoo tengo una Bicicleta GT California Aniquelada Antigua Y negra bien bonita
Nice!
I just got this bike and im 5’5 and im scared its gonna be too big
Our 5’7” friend days you’ll be fine. 😎
Just ordered my Grade last night. I’m curious if those sensors you installed work with Strava…I see the app Symbol on there info but I don’t see where I would pair it in Strava
We’re going to find out this weekend and I’ll post a video. I ordered another set for my mtb.
@@thebikefam nice thanks! As I said it would be interesting to see!
can you put pegs on this bike?
Yes he had them on for a while, but they got in the way he said so he removed them. I think they must be in some of our videos when the bike was first assembled
@@thebikefam alr thanks
Any regret not getting the Grade Comp?
i’m going to try to make a follow-up video this week, now that I’ve been riding it for a month. I thought the weather was going to be nice, but it’s been crummy… So I’ve not made much video, it sucks when it’s so hot. So far, I like the 1X. More range than I’ve needed so far. I thought I might end up putting the 2X GRX set up on there but at this point, I am pretty happy. I have made a few upgrades though that I’ll get into. At least until Shimano releases the drop bar cues early next year. I think that’s going to be the way for me. I’ll know by then.
Size large I see.. how tall are you? Your son’s lucky to have a cool dad!
6’1”…. Fits well after a stem swap and repositioning the grips/retapping the bars.
And thanks 😎
Did you have to change the rear gear?
I did end up having an issue with the free wheel that came with the bike and I did replace it - although I’m not sure that is in this video, I think it’s in the haro wheel set video
Good video. I’m trying to decide which 26 to buy, can I ask how tall you are to get a perspective on the bike?
Yes, I am 6'1"
Sick bike! I just got the GT Fueler 22" and I love it.
Yes! We don't have a Fueler, but you can bet I've thought about it. Nice bike!
This is a great video for kids that grew up without a Dad like i did, helps them learn from a nice patient person that they may not have in their life...ur son wont take these moments for granted many of us would of killed for this time 💯👍🏾👌🏾
Did your dad ever send money or gifts ?
I’m in the same situation my baby mama doesent let me see my boy but I ask every week and she says she’s busy . Maybe your mom kept him away . Just know he prolly thinks about you every minute of every day but maybe feels unwanted .
What size are they
24" x 2.5"
What psi do you put on your tires ?
40 atm. Still experimenting.
@@thebikefam thanks I just got the bike and I took it to the gas station to fill up air and noticed tires said 65 psi lol I was like there’s no way I can put 65
I put around 35-40
Yeah, I think I put 50 or so right off the bat, but it feels way better to me around 40. Some research online seem to indicate the ideal pressure for that tire was at 35 psi… I could be wrong, this is off the top of my head
@@thebikefam thanks
Is this tubeless?
No it is not.
Hoping bars come assembled and wrapped. Install video indicated they didn’t come wrapped. Fingers crossed
I also expected to be wrapping the bars myself. They came fully assembled. I just had to attach them to the stem. I sort of wish they were not assembled, I would’ve liked to experimented with placement, but it did get me riding sooner
Man, for a $600 bike, you're changing a lot
Just the stuff that needs it. 😀
@the bikefam I have a new GT pro series Heritage And everything on it is pretty good. I upgraded the brake pads that's it. All other parts a solid.
@@shanecarravello2922 it is a solid bike. I would still suggest the tires and the brake caliper. Most of the other stuff is preference or fit.
Nice video! I just ordered a Grade Comp. Can’t wait to get it. Sold my full suspension bike since I never get to ride it as intended. Looks like a great bike and was an amazing deal. How do you like the Sport Comp?
I wish I had more time on it before now, but until this week the weather‘s been 120° in the day. The brakes are mediocre, everything else is great. I’ll make a proper video about it and what my plans are. Originally, I was going to put the GRX group set you’ve got on, but I think I’ll make some small upgrades and wait to see what happens with CUES. I haven’t had enough time on it to decide anything on the gear range in all honesty.
@@thebikefam I won’t have mine for another week. Gamble not being able to ride it or test fit. Looked at quite a few other bikes, mechanical disc were bad on all of them. Excited for GRX groupset and hydro brakes. Sale price blew everything away. Probably should have spent more and gotten the Carbon model lol
All my thoughts as well. I have a large GT aggressor, so I went with a large grade. Seems to fit well. Hydraulic brakes, I don’t know how much better they are… But in my hand, they feel amazing, so ultimately that’s what I’d like to have. I picked up some brake calipers I’ll try out this week I hope they are as good as they look
@@thebikefam one for day until it shows up!
@@marclayman8799 how did it go? I’m going to try to get a video up this weekend with updates on my bike.
How do you like the Hookworms vs the Smoothies? I'm building a stretched-out cruiser bicycle and can't tell what tire to get between these two. I'm looking for a smooth ride and decent puncture protection.
The hookworms are incredible. Highly recommended over the smoothies. Check out the grifters too I did those in another video.
How has the bike held up since you bought it? I have heard people were having issues with the quality of the bike after a little abuse
So far so good…. Rode it every day until summer and no issues
@@thebikefam good deal, thanks for the info
I just bought this bike for my 15 y/o nefew. He's a big kid around 6'1 about 220. The bik came in and it's a pretty big bmx style bike. Exactly what I wanted for him. I assembled it and rode it, it was very smooth. He's excited to see it, I can't wait to give it to him
That’s awesome. He’s going to love it.
@thebikefam How tall are you, your bike is the 29" right?
In this video, we’re both 6 foot one. My son keeps growing.
@thebikefam 🤣😂 your son made that bike look like a regular size BMX 😂. I'm 5'10, the bike is pretty big to me 😂. Perfect for my nephew. Thank you for the great review!
Hey guys new sub can you list the tire sizes please.
Ya buddy. 27.5 x 2.3
Looks very nice. Do you know if chainstays will allow 50mm tires? Any chance to try neadure the soacing? Thank you
Did you also post on Facebook earlier? I used a digital caliper set to 50 mm in the rear, and I believe it will fit. That’s probably about as big as you could go.
Thank you! @@thebikefam
I've been going back and forth with deciding on which color to go for. I'd pretty much settled on the red bike (day-glo orange in reality) until viewing this video whereby the yellow logo on the after-market Maxxis tires looks awesome with the yellow bike!
I actually purchased the orange/red but for whatever reason I never received it. Honestly, I’m glad, the yellow is awesome.
@@thebikefam Absolutely. It's of course subjective but the yellow when coupled with those after-market tires is the winning combination for me. I'd be swapping out the yellow grips for black ones to match the seat, tires and stem though. Yes, I'd be removing all of the pads because to me BMX have always too kiddie with the pads on. Albeit in this specific instance I might leave on the top tube pad as its mostly black color neatly breaks up the large expanse of yellow by just enough to look good in tandem with the aforementioned other black parts.
Yeah, it’s my wife’s bike, there are a few things I would do, but this is how she likes it. I did insist on the handlebars, and since she likes the grips, I got some black and yellow grip donuts. I’m not sure if they were in that video, but they look sweet
How tall are you? Just in reference for sizing with the bike
Were both 6'1", though one of us is shrinking and one is still growing....
Hello do you know if this fits the 2021 GT Grade as well? How'd you find the part # btw? I contacted GT and they haven't responded in months
They are super busy. It was hard for me to get someone. Check page 16 of this manual. gtbicycles.com/cdn/shop/files/GT_Collection_2021_Tech_Book.pdf?v=9096195888648130446
Fantastic video. Thank you. You seem very well equipped. Any chance you can measure the spacing between the chainstays .. curious if 50mm tyre would fit. (Web site says 45 mm but I am seeing lots of space there I think). If yes, gt did their home work. Killer frame. Thank you!!
Just got the blue one waiting on it to come now I can’t wait, all my other bikes are fixed so this will be dope for me
Nice!! Go over everything!
Would this rim fit on a 29er se bike?
It sure looks like it to me. I’m pretty sure it’s a standard size and I’ve got a big ripper right next to this GT and they look the same.
@@thebikefam do you think a fixed gear cog could go on the rim
@@cost1339 I am not sure!
DO YOU WANNA SEND ME YOUR OLD SMOOTHIE TIRES? I COULD SURE USE'EM
I put them on marketplace :)
What size did you pick for your headset?
34-34 I believe it was
He looks big for that bike, looks like fun trails though :D
He’s 6 foot one and it’s a large. But yeah, he’s probably grown an inch since he got it.
Put BMX bars on it and call it good. Never doing the lean over ever again after putting BMX bars on my Trek Procaliber.
hey i just got a gt aggressor pro 27.5 xl, and i got the bike with a messed up rim and spokes are messed up to and i wanna swap the disk and cassette to a new rim, is there anyway you could help me find a rim thats cheap ish with hub and spokes on amazon, great video btw!
I would check marketplace as well. I have seen rims on my local marketplace for about $100 for a pair. That would be the easiest thing to do. But sure, drop your questions here and I’ll help however I can

Hey! great video ❤❤ i was wondering if you guys think the 29 inch is a good size for someone who is 5’6? and if you don’t mind me asking how tall are you so i can picture the size, thanks🙏🙏
So yes, you will be fine. We have a friend who is about that size and loves it, but we are both 6'1". Thanks for watching!
@@thebikefam do you think i would look goofy on a 29 inch tho like u think i would fit better on a 26 inch
Nah. You might like the feeling of the 26 but if you’re going to ride with friends 29‘s probably the way to go if that’s what they are riding.
in the description, the amazon link is showing 170mm instead of 175 mm for the crankset so which did you use?
also can you link the brakes
Hey, I’ll check it out and try and fix that this evening. We did use 175 though.
