Saturday Railfanning along the CSX Fitzgerald Subdivision feat. Citirail and foreign power.
This Saturdays trip to Cordele proved to be a good one with quite a few trains rolling through in an 8 hour period with a couple of nice catches in the mix. The first was loaded phosphate B231 headed to Chicago behind a mix of GE and EMD power. Later we caught empty potash train B240-03 roaring through the south end of Rebecca siding with an ex CREX Gevo leading a CN T4. We would later catch up to this train again at the north end of Ross before ending our day with M647-01 sporting a pair of BNSF Gevos on the head end. Overall it was a nice day, and with it being fall, I hope to get out more often.

It was “Founders Day” weekend at the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum, so I made the trip up to get the steam engines hard at work pulling the “Missionary Ridge Locals” from the museum grounds to the TVRM Soule Shops in East Chattanooga. Another successful annual Smoke Rise HO Scale exhibit in the books. Now with the two B trains out of the way, the late running Amtrak Silver Meteor makes its way through Folkston with a newer ALC-44 leading an older P42.

Not long after B490-31 cleared up, combined B210-B621 (using the B210 symbol) came off the Jesup sub into Folkston with a two week old NS AC44C6M leading the way. As the empty phosphate portion of the train came by however, we were surprised to see loaded rock train B491-31 come charging down the Nahunta sub passing the B210, nice little catch there.

Next train on the docket was a recently established rock train headed onto the Nahunta sub towards Augusta, B490. Power was a single DC Gevo.

Next train off the Jesup sub was the Waycross-Bush turn L796. This was a boxcar heavy train, and will return NB later in the day to Waycross.

Sometime after P053 rolled past, NB rock local L729 approaches the south end of Folkston headed up to Brownsand, GA for another load of Georgia rock.

Little after M453 came through was the southbound Amtrak Auto Train being led by a classic consist of a GE P40DC and a GE P32-8BWH. Generally, the Auto Train draws the some of the oldest power on the Amtrak roster, but soon even these will be replaced with the newer ALC-42 chargers, already taking over on the Silver Meteor and Silver Star.

Following right on the heels of P091 was CSX M453-01 coming off the Jesup Subdivision bound for Miami, FL. Power was a rebuilt AC44 leading YN2.

she's been doing work in my hometown the last few weeks.
It went on the crack trip…. Got picked up from there, taken to Cartersville, GA and got picked up by M280 to Nashville
