MX2001 Bluetooth Water Level Logger Introduction Video
This video introduces the MX2001 water level datalogger by Onset Computers. This logger measures the depth of water in a variety of applications and allows you to collect that data using a Bluetooth link to the datalogger. The app is free to download for iOS, Android or Windows.
Please contact us for a price quote or to learn more about how the MX2001 can help you gather the water level or flow data that you need. We are at www.inmtn.com

Estimating Flow Rate using the Float Method
Просмотров 59 тыс.7 лет назад
A common but simple method for measuring flow rate through an open channel is the Float method. Although not as accurate as a measuring device such as a flume or a velocity probe, the float method can provide an educated estimate. Briefly put, this method involves measuring the surface velocity of the water with a floating object, and then multiplying this velocity by the width and average dept...
EZ Flow Ramp Flume Assembly

    Sir thank you for the video. I want ask about how to using the average of velocity in this equipment?

  • @724riff
    @724riff 9 месяцев назад

    So I'd like to ask. If a person put bolders let's say roughly 10 feet on each side of that exact spot how would it affect this whole equation.

    • @724riff
      @724riff 9 месяцев назад

      For example if that was 1000 gallons over the roughly 42 feet he stated and now it's a 1000 gallons over roughly 20 feet because of the boulders would it increase the water speed with tye same amount of water and make it more worthy of hydro electricity or not

    Why 0.85 for velocity adjustment

    • @AayushKumar-ci5pm
      @AayushKumar-ci5pm 19 дней назад

      As there some retardation on the bottom of channel for flowing of water . There is a difference in surface flow and bottom flow so , the hydrologist recommended to take the 85% for that thing

    Battery life is good(this one ran roughly a decade) but when it fails sending the thing in for service to replace the battery is over 1/3 of the cost of a new one. Currently they have a supply shortage and service is impossible. So we replaced the battery instead. The split location is the seam line around head. This one has a short interior flange that sticks down from display side inside the lower half with a bead of sealant around the bottom edge. Because I went looking for tabs to unlatch and there were none I cut part of the flange off while getting this one apart. There are no tabs and no alignment notches in this one so 2 potential strategies to try getting it apart. A really strong twisting motion might separate the cases by breaking the sealant. Alternately I would try gently flexing the plastic of the display side in with a pair of slip pliers to break the sealant in localized locations. Repeat till worked far enough around to get the sealant loose. The halves separate and 4 screws hold the display to the case house. Be sure the meter is face down while you do this as there are 4 tiny metal pins that extend exterior buttons to the interior buttons that are incredibly easy to lose. If face down they will stay in their plastic holders. The battery in this one was a solder in that any good electronics person should be able to change with a battery cost of a few bucks(vs over $450 to service it)(freight will cost you far more than the battery) The battery in this one was CR-2354/HFN. Since we needed it fast we subbed with a CR2450 because they are commonly available here and only 10 mA lower max draw. 560 mA max draw orginal vs 550 mA max draw for the 2450. We fudged a holder together with epoxy and edges of a windshield wiper blade that will work for now.

    We have to of the EZ-Flume (Nu-way) flumes in our ditches of the 7 CFS size for ditches with 3 CFS and 2 CFS water rights that are working well. We have another location that is a 1/2 CFS water right - do you have any suggestions? We have switched from the ditch approach to pumping with a collection of ram pumps at the above location. Pump meters are expensive and probably won't work with our low pressure low volume pumps anyway. The only thing I've been able to dream up is to first measure the output from the stream with a flume and then drop the water into the drive pipes for the pumps. There are a lot of ditch water rights in Colorado less than 1 CFS and measuring devices are being required on all ditches - any suggestions?

    How about for open channel sir, Is there any method or approach to measure flow? The open channel is trapezoidal with possible sedimentation. Thank you and God Bless.

    • @intermountainenvironmental3304
      @intermountainenvironmental3304 3 года назад

      This is slightly more difficult. You must calculate the area of the channel that has water in it, there are formulas to do this published on many websites. Search for area of a trapezoid. The flow probe use is basically the same, however, remember that this technique is an estimate of flow, not an exact measurement. Sometimes you must make your best estimate with the tools and situation that you are dealt.

    the lecture is interesting and colorful.after doing this and the like we can find stream discharge.but what the problem is how to find the daily flow having event based flow like the following measurement. 4/12/2017 at 6:00 we have 0.2m3/s ,4/12/2017 at 18:00 we have 0.15m3/s, 4/13/2017 at 5:30 we have 0.3m3/s,4/13/2017 at 15:00 we have 0.25m3/s ,4/13/2017 at 19:00 we have 0.5m3/s etc .use spread sheet. "peterwater2123@gmail.com" thank you for doing this.
