another way to check spark without disconnecting things
this video is for the common joe to use in his arsenal or ideas for troubleshooting a car the coil was originally firing when i pulled the spark plug off and there was a rpm drop when they were disconnected the coil was PARTIALLY WORKING which made it hard for me at least being an average joe to track it down. I used this method after viewing a video from eric the car guy which relayed me to the wells channel and they had the genius idea or using a timing light to check for spark instead of pulling the boot and checking for spark that way. just thought it might help someone out there.

I live in las vegas where throughout summer the temperatures reach 110 daily. After doing a complete air conditioning rebuild condenser, evaporator, compressor, expansion valve, receiver dryer, and flushing everything out before I retrofitted the system, I am having a hard time keeping the pressures where they need to be (Low side about 35-40 high side about 200-250 on a hot day). I suspect I h...

$40 at home deglazing.
Просмотров 9 тыс.9 лет назад
I said $40 because I would assume most of you have a drill at your house. Time to make good use of it now. If you need a corded drill they sell them for $30 at harbor freight. I also point out how its not absolutely necessary to have honing oil, just use a couple of things you already have lying around the house.
Can I cylinder-deglaze at home effectively??? (part 1 - how to)
Просмотров 14 тыс.9 лет назад
Using just WD-40 & 10w-30 oil (non synthetic) I show that you can effectively deglaze and create good crosshatches on a budget at your house. (For my chrome OR molly rings)

can I use WD40 for cylinder deglazing?? Answer is YES, it produces great results and leaves you with a good cross hatch pattern. See video Can I cylinder-deglaze at home effectively???

    The bottom is not where there is the least amount of oil, the reason it wears on the bottom is because the valve springs load it through the rockers, push rods and lifters pushing it down.

    How much oil was added after the system rebuild?

  • @rickjames6948
    @rickjames6948 2 года назад

    Oh you must pull a ONE HOUR VACUUM, minimum. Wouldn't hurt anything to leave it for a day.

  • @rickjames6948
    @rickjames6948 2 года назад

    Yours is doing the opposite of mine. Low side isn't really moving, even with more revs. High side gets higher with more 152 added. Not really ice cold and I'm way over charged. Like 300psi on the high side. More 152 I feed it, colder it gets out of the vent. Only getting 46F vent temps. Going to swap the TXV and drier this weekend.

  • @rickjames6948
    @rickjames6948 2 года назад

    Low side should be around 25-30 at idle. High around 150'ish at idle. When charging open all car doors to keep compressor ON. Put on outside air during a hot day with fan on 3 out of 4 for example. You MUST weigh in the charge of 64% of an R-152A charge. Don't know for an R-12 car. Easy look up.

    The rings are going to wear out in short order in that coarse of a finish. If you ever saw a new factory block or a block from NASCAR they are nearly shiny they are so smooth. My machine shop finishes most bores with 320 stones and then plateau hones a few strokes with a CV616 Sunnen hone to finish. The rings will last 200k.

    92 buick started quitting while driving and then would easily restart.Was charging at 14.3 and battery was at 12.3 when tested.Now car won,t start just cranks over like it wants to start and you smell gas.Have oil leak that is spraying on engine belt and alternator was raining hard outside and ice cold today.Not able to work long on car because out in the wind.Could it be the alternator?Or something else?

    Adding gas won't cause evaporator temp to drop, it'll increase. Might be slight overcharge, depending on several things. You didn't give ambient temperature or temperature of evaporator and condenser outlet tubing. Was the evaporator restrictive orifice (refrigerant expansion device) confirmed clean and/or replaced? Remember, the compressor oil must be carried through the system with the refrigerant so if refrigerant is too low the oil will be washed out of the compressor by vapor and get trapped in the evaporator, never returning to the compressor.

    You are using too high RPM and not enough vertical movement. It is supposed to look like cross hatching not circular scratches. And stop using motor oil. Use cutting oil.
