My 16-year-old played "Through the Fire and Flames" with his drum teacher Richie Jones (www.richiejonesdrummer.com). Great show with some awesome kids.

Reviewing the 2007 first-generation Kindle 16 years later!
Просмотров 10 тыс.Год назад
The Kindle changed the world of e-books forever when it launched in 2007. At $399, it was priced like a category-defining product because it was, with an array of features that has never been matched since. Sure, modern Kindles are lighter, look better and have glowy lights, but this monster had a full keyboard, SD card slot, a scroll wheel, and free 3G. At least until they turned it off. So le...

Dude this is so cool!
Really wish this video got more attention. Yes, I'm from almost 2 decades later, but this video is just a good video
Nice Jeff Tweedy book behind you!
I started reading e-books long before this kindle came along. I bought a device that was one of Oprah's favorite things. You had to plug your landline into a phone port on it so this was like a dream come true when it came along. It had some aspects I wish kindles still had. It was easier to hold with the grip edge on the back and the buttons were really nice. I'm a forever oasis girl now. I way prefer the buttons. Thanks for sharing it. I still have mine and it still works.
Boah is that cool 😳😲
I hope that supportive wife is still in your life. 🙏🥺
How do you found at that price, now is ridiculously expensive
It’s $12 on eBay
Fintie cases are great. I like them for my iPads and my kindle scribe also has a fintie case;)
Can anyone tell me where I can get a replacement battery for this Kindle ? I have the same one and can’t get it to turn on anymore.
I don’t know if they make them anymore
Thankyou, is a great video
I love physical buttons, but I honestly don't see where you could put them on the Scribe that makes sense. In the middle of the grip, where you'll be gripping it? In a corner, which could be in any direction from you, or being used as a grip? I'm on team clean screen. They make touch screen gloves 🤷
My Pros randomly turn off on their own...even after multiple re-sets, and using my Iphone, my Samsung phone, and my wife's phone, the issue was the same...I then made a return for a brand new pair, but the issue was the same...I'm hoping their design engineers read this post and come out with a software update before my warranty expires.
I have one of these. This has LIFETIME FREE cellular access.
At least in the U.S., 3G networks are all shut down now.
Not anymore it doesn't. It only supports 3G which is gone in the U.S. Newer devices with 4G still has free cellular access.
I bought the pro mini, the only problem that im having is when im listening music, the music come and go. But if i disable the wifi, the problem gone. I don't know if this is a known problem?
Wow u have such an old device working.. Amazing maintenance
I used to own a Kindle like that. It seemed so cool back then. LOL
Can you link the battery
Where did you buy the battery replacement? Can you post a link?
I bought it from this person: www.ebay.com/itm/302388904644
Super low reflectivity screen and replaceble battery is what i want to see on modern e-readers.Also phisical buttons is a nice touch.
I am in need of a replacement battery. Seems my Kindle has died and I think it’s the battery. Where do I find one ? I have first generation.
A Kobo Libra 2 is the closest you'll get to something like that now.
Kindles are around for so long that I really thought they existed in the late 90´s. I am curious about the keyboard... what would you use it for? Take notes? Thanks for the video. Oh, and it´s amazing that you could load a new book and read it! How were ebooks sold back then? You had to download them and send through USB?
There's been a Kindle Store on the Kindle pretty much since the beginning, but USB worked fine on this unit since the wireless format isn't supported any longer.
We used the keyboard to search the Kindle store, or to find a book in our downloaded Kindle library (there were no “Collections” back then). Or to type in URLs in the browser. This gen didn’t have WiFi, only 3G service, and that’s how you shopped the Kindle store or downloaded books wirelessly. Or you could download to computer and transfer via USB.
did you ever figure out what the question mark on the battery icon was? Thinking about doing this to my keyboard so I can have it as a back up or whenever I feel like using it again.
I think the battery just needed to be conditioned. Once I charged it fully (which took a while the first time) the question mark went away, and it worked normally.
I really liked mine. The physical buttons were great. Sadly something went wrong with my display and it has black blobs in the screen that won't go away. The battery was still working. Ohh well.
Insane!!! #inTheZone......Brody Rocks
Good luck
Do you ever just use the Kindle app on your iPhone?
Almost never. I’m kind of an eink snob.
I still have mine. I loved it. I tried to charge it today and no dice. I didn’t even consider replacing the batter before watching this video and just bought a new kindle today😂
Some really weird design decisions, but it’s so technologically audacious that it’s a fun device to revisit.
Does it still have the dogdy eraser that removes too much?
Thank you Sir! 😀
Most welcome!
That thing looks like it came out in 1987 not 2007.
True lol
An e-ink display would seem like something out of Harry Potter in the '80s. A piece of paper that can magically shift ink around to create words?
Love him
Heyy i have this one kindle, just bought it from a secondhand store online, but the big issue is this kindle unfortunately is a managed device, and the wifi is off, i know that this kindle have no support from amazon anymore for it 3g, but i thought the wifi must be can be use, but as i said it is already managed to not to connect to wifi from the previous owner. And i also cant factory reset it, after i ask the issue with Amazon CS it said bcs this kindle already old so the wifi can't be use. But i think, its not bcs of it, its just already managed by the previous owner maybe for their child. And it just dead so they sold it. I really want to make it become can connect to wifi. Sadly i cant do the factory reset
So interesting how first gen of both kindle and nook were so different then how they turned out in later generations.
Nice video. My only nit to pick is that the program you'd mentioned several times is pronounced caliber. The creator just spells it like a Commonwealth nation would. Libre may be an ideal, but it is not part of the naming.
Thanks! You are correct.
si cool😮
MS-DOS 5 book in the shelf!
all the fu*ing video about case !!!! man its 20 fu*ing dollar
Amazing how far we’ve come and crazy to think how far we will go in another 15 years.
it's so wonderful looking
I would say that this shared narrative already exists, and was launched by Immanuel Velikovsky in 1950, and modified and adapted by Dave Talbott, Dwardu Cardona, Ev Cochrane, Wal Thornhill, and others. It's the recovery and retrieval of the collective memory of catastrophe and trauma. www.youtube.com/@BreakingtheScienceBarrier
Sounds like a great opportunity to learn the "How's and Why's" about this book that I've always questioned.
Man if they could add keyboard support... disrupt the freewrite.
TLDR (for me personally): the device is overpriced and too restrictive. An excellent video though.
How I get the battery to Nigeria ?
Funny how every generation they take away features from devices and make them more throwaway. Replaceable battery, headphone jack, memory card, speakers, who needs that stuff?
Man, I love mine. I've owned ereaders, ipads and kindles. I really love the Scribe. It writes and reads really well.
I just bought a pair of OpenRun (non-pro) to use while cycling for the same reasons that you stated. Actually, I haven't used them for that purpose yet, as my recent rides have all been with groups. However, I have used them to listen to NPR and podcasts in the morning while emptying the dishwasher, watering the flowers, etc. They are really great for that. I have also tried using them for watching TV at night, however there is a noticable lag vs. the picture, which is annoying. I was hoping that I could use them instead of my over-the-ear headhphones at night (after my daughter goes to bed), but I guess the large headphones don't have to worry about being replaced for that duty. All in all I'm impressed with them and happy with my purchase. I'm looking forward to using them on a bike ride (I ride on rural roads and I do use both a mirror and radar to let me know of approaching vehicles). I have been using some Sony wireless earbuds (connected by a wire that loops around the back of my neck) and like you and a lot of the commenters I find that they don't really want to stay in. Well, the one in my right ear seems to be the one getting ejected. The OpenRun unit fits really nicely and I'm not at all worried about it rattling off of my head.
Great review, thanks
Would like to see line and angle tools for quick technical sketches.
I love the cable
