    Absolutely plug welds are better than spot welds. That's why I would buy a brand new home built Mustang before an original factory car. Plus with the advanced steering and suspension technology I can put together a Better than Shelby Mustang. I used high tension cleco clamps that work better than tech screws imo

    • @ScottHarness1
      @ScottHarness1 Месяц назад

      The 67 rear end is wider, I’d sell it and go with a 8.8 out of a ranger, or explorer. You can get 410 factory gears and 31 spline axels as well as disc brakes. Much better axel than the 8”.

    • @ScottHarness1
      @ScottHarness1 Месяц назад

      I’m going to be using it to bond the front end (going to use studs as well) I think depending on the application it is a good option. I probably wouldn’t do it on larger panels. Just don’t think it can hold where a weld needs to be.

    What did you have to do to inner body to widen wheel tubs

    • @ScottHarness1
      @ScottHarness1 2 месяца назад

      Nothing to the quarters themselves but I did run frame rails that are narrower than the factory. However you can do tubs without narrowing the frame. Both the 1967 & 68 have lots of room for tires if you use mini tubs and the factory frame. There is really no reason to narrow the rear frame rails.

      You can and it would be stronger because the convertible has a better inner frame however a convertible is valued close to a fastback, so you might convert it and in the end the convertible would have been worth more restored than converted.

    Here’s my question. Two identical years one coupe one fast back, both need quarters roof skin and trunk? You decide to convert the coupe to fastback. When you’re done, which one is worth more? OG fastback is not original fastback because all parts are replaced. Title??

    • @ScottHarness1
      @ScottHarness1 2 месяца назад

      The original fastback will be worth more depending on the parts used. The value in the conversion is the starting point, the fastback is normally much more expensive from the start than the coupe. For instance a good coupe can be had for $3-4k, a rusted fastback is $19-30k. The conversion will cost the same as replacing the sheetmetal on the fastback, in this example let's say $5k. In the end you will have $8-9k in the converted coupe and it will be worth $25k, you will have $24-35k in the fastback. It will be worth about that. So the coupe will net you a profit if sold of about $15k, the fastback will be sold for about what you have in it.
