Intex Mariner 4 Custom Bass Boat Solo Fishing - mistakes were made!
On 7/26/2020, I finally take my Intex Mariner 4 out for a morning of fishing, after having not used it for 20 months. In order to make the boat transportable in my sedan, I cut the one-piece wood floor in two, and this was the boat's first use since. I was able to move the boat by myself thanks to my new wheeled solution.
My unfamiliarity with my old boat was evident as I made a few mistakes during the preparation for the trip, which caused me to not be able to use my fishfinder, and to use my trolling motor in an unusual way.
What started out as a calm, windless morning quickly changed as the wind picked up and made fishing along the banks challenging.

Ned Rig Bass Fishing from Inflatable Pontoon - 19 fish caught on same lure! Plus 1 bonus 20th fish!
Просмотров 7034 года назад
On an early Friday morning in June 2020, I hit the east end of our neighborhood lake, next to the golf course. A great spot for bigger bass is next to and under the golf cart bridge used by the golfers, but this spot is directly in play for one of the golf holes; tee shots go right over this spot. But if you get there early enough, before the golfers make their way through the course to get to ...

Our neighborhood pond was drained, but does it still have fish in it?
Просмотров 1604 года назад
In April 2020, the pond near our neighborhood clubhouse, tennis courts, and pool was drained and dredged to remove silt and sediment from the bottom. Two months later, on a windy day, I tried to see if any fish remained. I had been told that the pond was completely drained, and I would be wasting my time fishing there. Using the wind as an aid, I cast across the pond into the shadows near the t...
Inflatable Pontoon Bass Fishing: 19 Fish on 1 Lure
Просмотров 6054 года назад
Went out for a few hours on a beautiful Saturday morning in June, and caught 19 fish, all on the same lure - a Z-Man Turbo Crawz in Green Pumpkin, Texas-rigged with a 1/16 ounce bullet weight. I also lost a few fish that were able to throw the lure while I messed with the camera. Also, I finally got to test a DIY pontoon dolly that I made, so I can assemble and configure my boat in the parking ...
Inflatable pontoon fishing - one dozen largemouth on a Tuesday after work
Просмотров 18 тыс.5 лет назад
Had perfect weather for after-work fishing, and was on the water by 5:15pm or so. Caught four largemouth bass right away, fishing a Ned Rig using a Z-Man TRD Crawz on a 1/16oz mushroom head jig. Continued catching bass on that setup until one swallowed the hook and I had to cut the line in order to make the hook removal easier. Not wanting to spend time re-tying a new fluorocarbon leader to my ...

Windy morning, post-storm, will the bass bite today?

Hi. Thanks for posting this as I'm finding it very helpful and useful. I just bought the latest Mariner 4 along with a Newport 62lb thrust trolling motor/battery/mount and browsing RUclips and elsewhere for info on how to best rig it up for fishing on the lake here. It's still in the box, so yet to get started on it and this really helps to do it right the first time. BTW, the chairs look really nice. What brand are they and what company?

Thinking about getting a trolley motor for my Fish cat 10 foot pontoon boat what do you recommend how fast does your boat go ? Will a 55 Thrust Go Way faster than a 30 ? Thank you

    • @ndettwiler
      @ndettwiler 7 месяцев назад

My first was a 30lb thrust, and it was plenty for an 8' pontoon. I "upgraded" to a 34lb thrust so I could get the 36" shaft length. Speed is of no importance to me. I like the lower power motors because they are less draining on the battery, and they weigh less. And they are less expensive. 55lb thrust on an inflatable pontoon is overkill. Think smaller and lighter. Maybe see if you can borrow a trolling motor and see how well it pushes your 10 footer.
