I carry weapons with variable weapon timers, each of them doing more damage as time goes by. I carry both ranged and close-quarters melee weapons and I switch to them depending on the situation and the length of my weapon timers.

I remember someone on OSI with that name, I can't remember which server I saw that name on, maybe Baja. Just wondering if you played on OSI.

Yes, you make a lot of excellent points, and observations. The DP poison I use works as a nice distraction against mages, especially in conjunction with the hamstring but the main reason I use it is when I encounter heavy armor dexers, or dexers with parry. Many of these fights end up in stalemates, if I do not have sufficient poison. This is why I am moving away many of my old templates from swords to fencing, with fencing I can have 3 weapons with poison on them, and one of my new builds has 120 poisoning so I can use lethal, and archery. example: 120 poison, 100 fencing, tact, anat, resist, healing, archery. (a great template to try out) Spear, short spear, kryss, bow, xbow, heavy xbow. These plate or parry dexers are virtually impossible for me to kill, but one thing I've known from my experience from fighting other dexers is knowing when to use a well timed poison to interupt the bandage heal. This is something a lot of mages can benefit from in field pvp as well is to try and time that poison spell just right to block that bandage heal. Get them low quickly, and then start slapping them around with the poisoned kryss or katana. I do notice that others tend to drop their guard when they are grouping up against a single player, this is why I try to kite them around and hope not to run into any choke points to slow me down. Sometimes they fail the hamstring, which then sometimes creates disorder. Eventually they will run down all of their mana, and then at that point I have to rely on good RNG to finish them off. Sometimes I will put them in a position where they try to heal one or the other, and then I try to use up their hamstring. The trick is to either avoid their hamstring as long as possible or force them to waste it during a heal. A lot of mage pairs like to do the double explode, so when I see explode being casted, I have to assume it's a follow-up spell from another explode, so I try to kite it. I hate to do this kiting all the time, but I am left without a choice if I want to survive these mage dumps. Even a single mage doing an double explode, purple pot, rope teleport ebolt macro alone can easily kill you if you are not careful. Since the addition of rope teleports being allowed in precasting, I've had to adjust my strategy by kiting more. I generally try to avoid 1v2, because all it really takes is a proper double debuff and and hamstring sync dump and you're toast. Mage, or dexer this can happen quite easily. I know people like watching me fight these but I don't, lol. It's very hard to fight 2 mages, compared to fighting a mage and a dexer or two dexers. I have found a way to survive some hammy, ex,eb sync dumps, it is very hard to time it properly. Most of these dumps take anywhere from 4-6 seconds to pull off and if you time the bandage properly, and remain fully buffed you can heal through it. I hate doing it though. I demonstrated it twice in a row in my #18 video, at around 14:30 on my pure archer. There are other sync dump methods that are way more effective then these. I once ran into an archer mage pair, they both had FS preloaded and they both hit me for 35-40 dmg each with their heavy xbows, and released the flame strikes at the same time. Insta-death. (no debuff or hamstring required) This is why it is important for players to fight as one, otherwise their numbers become my advantage. I don't recommend that any dexer try to take on two mages, it's not as easy as it looks and most of the red pks on this server are experienced veterans, and you must expect that in every fight no matter who you are fighting. I prefer 1v1 encounters with mages, because I like to see the way other people will fight me, and everyone seems to have their own technique and I like to see them demonstrate that technique so I can apply it to my own mage pvp abilities, when I am playing my mage.

I generally use my own crafted bows, or other mastercrafted bows I stash in my shelf. Bronzewood, Goldenwood and occasionally Rosewood. It's very rare to go above 46-50 damage with a heavy xbow, but it's possible if the player is missing leather armor peices. The 60+ damage shot you saw was on a player with no armor on them. Anything over 50 damage means the other person is not wearing a full armor set, or their leather armor is heavily damaged.

I think it's fair to say that playing a dexer or a mage both requires skill in their own way. Both are capable of making mistakes or being victims of bad RNG, or situations that are sometimes out of our control; such as running into mobs or choke points that will slow you down, or objects that get in your way to block you. A dexer here has a lot of inherent disadvantages, but with good or decent RNG they are capable of being effective. For me, it has taken years of trial and error to better learn them in field PvP. A lot is going on in these fights. These are templates that require patience, I've learned to deal with these disadvantages and try to find a way to get around those in every fight by constantly trying to improve; even by watching my own videos to find flaws in my own performance. Monitoring my buffs and debuffs, situational awareness, movement/fielding, kiting, properly timing my bandages, timing and switching weapons to get the best damage rotation. -I fail to see these things as something that requires no skill.

@@panemon187 At least you react well to my comment. And you bring arguments to defend your style of play, good point. I initially played a dexxer, I wasn't comfortable with the mage. I killed a lot of guys, mostly mages (certainly not good ones). I didn't find it difficult to play a dexxer. Before each fight I'd activate a trap pouch and a bandage, then attack with a sword (halberd or other) then bow to finish if necessary. Then I turned definitively to the different versions of mage, more my play style. To be totally fair I think it's a matter of taste. I was a bit harsh in my 1st message. Continue, you seem like a good player!

​@@JacksonWe1127 There is a lot of frustration that comes with playing a dexer, which makes them not-so-easy in many circumstances, based on my own personal experience with them. My frustrations are also shared by many other players who like to PvP as a dexer. I get a lot of discord messages from dexers, expressing their frustration with dexers on this server; asking for my advice. I do not create the rules here. On Outlands, I am merely doing my best to work with what I have as a dexer. In my videos I do try to highlight some of these frustrations so people can see why it's not always so easy to play a dexer. I am always genuinely interested in the ideas and opinions of others; in the persuit of learning to better myself. Unlike the original poster of this thread, your response tells me that you're here just to argue for the sake of arguing. I don't consider it constructive criticism. If you're not going to take the time to make a refutation on why you think this is zero skill - then why should I, or anyone else care about; or respect your opinion? I could break this down even further, but is it worth my time?

I have a variety of templates I use. Sword, tact, anat, heal, resist, archery, 120 tracking is a nice glass cannon dexer build, but you can substitute tracking for magery, or poisoning, skinning - there are a lot of choices.

I carry 6 weapons. Bow, xbow, Heavy xbow, Hally, Katana, Executioners axe. Skills are usually: Healing, anat, melee skill, (not wrestle) archery, tactics, resist, magery or120 tracking. That would pretty much cover the majority of my templates, aside from some of my crafters and harvasters that use Forensic eval, carpentry, blacksmithing etc.

I mostly use them for aesthetics, I should level up my aspects, though. I don't do very much pvm.

@@panemon187 I think it will only help you on dungeon PVP incase you get aggroed by mobs but if you are in wilderness there is no point huh?

@@zolte-og6he Unfortunately all of the PVM benefits appear to wear off as soon as there is PvP. (Unless they changed it recently.)

@@panemon187 There are some affects still enabled versus the damage you get from the mobs. For example a lvl 10 void aspect will have around 12% damage reduction FROM mobs only even if you are in PVP. So when you are chasing/running away and get hit by a mob, that will help a bit there but not much. Again, in wilderness or town struggles you probably dont need any aspect

Telekinesis is used to make it possible to throw an exploding potion at someone on this server. You can also cast it on yourself to prevent Alchy mages from casting telekinesis on you for a short time, which is a good defensive measure to do when you fight them as a dexer. It keeps people from being able to spam throwing potions like they used to do on hybrid. Reflect can be striped with a simple harm or magic arrow here, unless you encounter a scribe.

As of late I have been using Bronzehide or above bone armor, this armor helps reduce mindblast damage. I have also been using ringmail armor as well. A recent patch lowered MB damage to ringmail armors, making them a more viable option for pvp. There is a trade off, when you run around in full plate, you will have decent damage reduction, but that comes at a cost of pvp when encountering a pker that tries to drop mindblast dumps that can do a lot of damage at low mana cost.

CTRL + Q = Greater Strength CTRL + E = Magic resist potion A,S,D = Arm Archery weapons = (whichever order is easier) - for me it's: Heavyxbow, Bow, Xbow - might change this so xbow is closer to my cure macro Q Z,X,C = Arm Swordsmanship weapons = Halberd, Executioners Axe, Katana. T = rope Teleport. (Handy sometimes when you get hamstrung, or when you need to teleport away from X fields or to jump to another spot.) Ctrl+Shift+Alt+ Backspace = bombag heal self, drop gexplode potion on self. (To root out hider mages with hiding or Invis spell) Note: For these weapon arming macros I am not using the standard arm weapon macros, I am using double click macros, recorded to Razor and assigned to a hotkey. (Ive been told to do the same with potions as well) They seem faster to me, but I may be wrong. I don't think you can precast with these double-click arm macros, so keep that in mind if you want to pre-cast.) It's important to have ergonomic macros so you don't have to look down at the keyboard and you can just feel the keys as you watch the screen, this way you can improve your reaction time. It's also critically important that you have quick access to your macros and try to avoid using combat or magery macros that have Alt, Ctrl, Shift, because it takes longer to push them and in PvP you can win best with speed. I save those kinds of macros for buffs, debuffs and other macros I dont use a lot in combat. You just have to practice the keys, I like to find random mobs or animals and test my macros on them. Once you feel comfortable then you can test them in pvp. In order to chat, you will need a hotkey in razor to turn off your hot keys. So I don't make any accidents I use Alt+Ctrl+Shift+ Question mark. Otherwise, if I try to type with those keys on, my client will likely crash. (It might crash on yours) (Dont forget to turn them back on after you've chatted, Ive done this before.) Old Macros: I am still using ;(Semicolon) (N and M key) , (Comma). (period) and / (Fw.slash) for my bow and weapon combos (, this is my old setup as I try to adjust myself to the new macros which are above.
