The current project is building a custom cross kart, mini buggy, that will feature a 1000cc V-twin Superbike engine with 135hp, a tandem two seat layout, and a lot of custom parts fabricated right here in Provin's Garage.

Modified Intercooler and a Holley Ultra Low Ram! - LET THE TURBO V8 BREATH!
I modified my intercooler for more flow and upgraded my intake manifold to the Holley Ultra Low Ram. Why use a straw when you can use a fire hose?! On the quest for a 9 second 1/4 mile.

Big cam motors tend to not produce sufficient enough vacuum at idle for power brakes and adding a turbo on top of that has a reverse effect once making boost. Today I am trying something a little different and installing an electric vacuum pump to keep my power brakes.

In this episode we lap the valves, remove some broken exhaust manifold bolts, and install dual valve springs to support the stage 3 turbo cam. LS cylinder heads flow really well from the factory but after a bunch of miles they definitely need some love to prepare them to make a lot more power. Excited for the results! Sold the rear mount silverado, new owner jus picked up one of these 7875s as well!
you have that wired for full time power on? personally if it has a vacuum shutoff, pushing the brake peddle grounds the brake light switch "grounds the vacuum booster pump relay" turning it on, holding the brake down it shuts off to prevent excessive run time as the vacuum shutoff trips... wire/plumb two of them in series? -12psi to -24psi? got something that's about 8000 pounds, cant go anywhere till one of those shows up or else the first to line up gets a surprise yoga class. tho it looks like their is an output barb on the side of some of those under the black cover. Volvo XC90 part, 50'000 hours of 60 second cycles is 830 hours continuous, if a work commute is 2 hours a day that would be a two year warrantied part depending on use. so their should be some cheaper refurbished hvacp's going around as they needlessly swap them out during dealership services. daisy chain them to get -30 pounds.
How much are you into this build?
Nice video. I'm like you, I wind up machining. It's also good to try to work with off the shelf parts because everyone isn't a machinist. Your location for the pump is the same place I was thinking about putting mine. It just seems practical to put it there and like you say you can always move it. It's good to space things out. Down in the same location I'm considering having a vacuum canister. It would cause the pump to have to pump more initially but would perhaps cut down on how much it turns on and off ( reduce cycling). Also if you have to repeatedly brake it cuts down on the fear or possibility of losing vacuum. Also if the pump ever fails you would have a vacuum that would fade in a more gradual manner. This would allow more time before all vacuum is lost and more time to become aware the vacuum pump has failed. Even if it's only a few seconds longer it could be enough to avoid an accident. It could also ensure the vacuum volume of other accessories if all of a sudden there's a demand for it. At least that's what I would think. I haven't even installed anything yet. Anyway, great video, it helped me feel more confident about how to go about it. I've worked on my own vehicles for about 40 years but it's always good to see how others approach things.
What mounts did you use? I’m doing similar set up and compressor is still sitting to close to frame even after notch

I'm running a dual catch can system with one working as a vent to atmosphere and the other is attached to the intake manifold with a check valve so it doesn't pressurize under boost.

Good luck maintaining a good deal on the fuel pump to tank . These things are notorious for leaking.
mines fine after 14k miles. The problem is people over torque the bolts and don't use the correct pattern and warp the tank seal lip. Warped lip = poor seal. The bolts only need 3 ft lbs.

if its building to 25mm of vacuum that's way over what the brake booster needs. most boosters only need 15-18mm. so even thought it is cycling on when you hit the pedal it is building more than needed which isn't a bad thing.

Could you run this setup without a booster
if you weren't using a vacuum booster for the brakes you really wouldn't need a vacuum pump. that is unless you had other vacuum accessories like the a\c blend doors or 4 wheel drive actuators, in that case yes you could run this set up to power anything needing vacuum.

One complaint I had was the original welds on some of the tubing wasn’t great I would grind that done/touch it up but looks good
